This is another one of those later Paizo spells where the effect is designed almost entirely in mechanical skill-based thinking instead of thinking about how it's actually meant to work or be role-played. It's like [Suggestion](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Suggestion), but instead of just making the victim do the thing, you just get +5 on diplomacy checks to ask them to do the thing, or I guess a -2 on the save to cast Suggestion after casting this spell. You know, on a will saves spell that then gives a -2 on will saves for the *real* spells you cast later if they failed the first will save. (Although it's will save partial? What's the partial effect it's supposed to have if the target saves?) Basically, this spell does nothing on its own, it just is a 50% chance of success spell and a round to make the NEXT spell have a 60% chance of success, raising your odds of the whole chain working from 50% to... 30%... for the cost of an extra spell slot and round spent casting... Just cast something like Suggestion or [Charm Person](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Charm%20Person) (legacy spells) in the first place and skip the middle step of having to deal with this nonsense. There's also the same problem that a lot of Enchantment spells Paizo makes being really obvious spells that have no explicit way of avoiding the target noticing you just cast a spell on them (which their own FAQ makes sure they will) while being a spell that only works if you aren't obvious about it. RP-wise, this spell basically requires you stand in front of the target and go "ABRACADABRA - YOU ARE FEELING SLEEPY! VEEEERY SLEEPY!... Say, it's getting late, why don't you take a nap? I'll cover your watch for you." It's just *sliiightly* sus. Meanwhile, all the feats and spell levels metamagic might increase just makes the spell slot waste for a spell that requires you to follow up with *another spell* that *also needs to be subtle* makes the waste even worse. You know, spells like [Adoration](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Adoration) or [Honeyed Tongue](https://aonprd.com/SpellDisplay.aspx?ItemName=Honeyed%20Tongue) (early Paizo spells) just affect you to give you a bonus, so you can cast before talking to the person, and nobody knows you cast it or can discern magical effects on the person you use diplomacy on... All-around, this is another social spell whose concept I like in principle, but oh god, Paizo really doesn't understand how to implement or balance these things.

I'm confused about the saving throw of this spell. It says "Will partial", but doesn't explain further. Regardless, I'm not a fan. Just use Charm Person. Same level, same duration, and much more reliable.

Very weak, you could just order them to do the thing with charm person or suggestion instead
