Noticed this trend rising on social media. So many comments start with "bro."
Video of a chimp that walks on two legs. "Bro evolving"
Video of a cat sniffing another cat's bum "Bro lost in the sauce 💀"
Every video protagonist is "bro" now.
Or dude. I'm old enough to remember when they started saying "bro", and I thought to myself why is everyone saying "bro" and eventually I felt like hmm do I need to start saying "bro?"
In AAVE, it was brother. Which then became bro/bruh. Feel like this isn't just a language thing; it's also cultural. A lot of language right now is just borrowed from AAVE.
Now that I think about it.. I think I prefer people who say like more than bro but that's real close. I had to think for a moment. Haha. Good on you. I'm still not sure what's worse I just hear bro more often.
I find guys say bro and women say like.
Hearing “bro” is like listening to rain compared to hearing “like” for me. My blood pressure goes up when one sentence has “like” every other word. Makes you sound so incredibly unintelligent. I get sometimes it comes from anxiety or nervousness, but some people just abuse it.
I rather hear “what’s up bro?”
Than
“Did you like, hear about that like, new song that like just come out like yesterday? Like, it’s pretty good. Like you know?”
I agree though, hearing bro used too much makes you sound immature.
Lol this one time YEARS ago I was in high-school I remember on a trip I was on some bus for 2 hours and some girls were in front of me. I counted like 82 likes until I told them I've been counting everytime they said like. They went beat red it was great.
Some people definitely overuse like. But I've seen guys use bro in the same way you described and that gets my blood up. Idc if you say what's up bro. Or hey bro. It's when you use bro for everything. Like mid sentence.
"Bro you see this movie bro? Broo.. you don't know what your missing bro" (sadly I've had this conversation recently there was more but you get the jist of it)
I stopped watching the YouTuber berleezy because he says "bruh" after every sentence lmfao. Funny guy but he says it too damn much. My cousins watch him too and now they say bruh after every sentence too, drives me insane
I work in retail and a lot of the people that they hire are under the age of 25. They start every sentence with bruh. Some of them will say something like
Bruh not gonna lie no cap fr
Or any combination of that crap and I'm just not sure how to carry on a normal conversation with them. I think they are saying bruh as a buffer so they can give themselves enough time to formulate a thought.
The worst is when guys post texts from their crush or whatever on r/texts and she’s like “ BRO how tf you…”. It might seem weird but if a girl I’m interested in calls me bro I’m moving on.
My son's friends call me "bruh." LOL I'm a 63 year old woman and it cracks me up.
They are all in their mid 30's and I've known them since grade school.
Agreed, but 'brah' is worse. That's an undergarment.
Also worse is 'boss'. You're definitely a douchebag if you call a random guy 'boss' or 'boss man'.
I'm not your bro, guy...
I'm not your guy, pal.
I'm not your pal, buddy.
I’m not your buddy, guy!
I'm not your buddy hubby
I'm not your hubby, dawg.
🤣💀
Bro…

Before that is was “man”. Starting a comment addressing the reader isn’t new

Don’t even get me straight on the the white kids on TikTok calling everyone blud.
Bro is annoyed 💀
Sorry bro
I started doing it to annoy my kids. then I couldn't stop, bro
I did this also and it’s very satisfying
Chill bro
I’m a teacher and students calling me bro or bruh will send me over the edge
Bro bruh
Lol name checks out🤣
Bruh
Brah!
It’s not as bad as people who use “like” after every word

Haha maybe they became more self aware then from that point on! Now imagine if they used like and bro together like that…
God I hope so.. As for your second part, I'd just get off and walk. I don't care if it's 100km lol!
Chill bro.
I hate to tell this bro but you're not my bro. You're my Brosideon.
Are you a star in the night? Because I want to paint you like Vincent van bro
That’s my favorite bromantic painting. You win Reddit with that. I’m too drunk to come up with more brotastic broness
Brotato chip
Broseph
Idk what to tell you bro
Yeah. That's really annoying, dude...
Chill out, bro.
Dude, I so agree.
Thanks for letting me know, bro
I agree with you, it is very annoying.
Vince Russo apologizes.
I stopped watching the YouTuber berleezy because he says "bruh" after every sentence lmfao. Funny guy but he says it too damn much. My cousins watch him too and now they say bruh after every sentence too, drives me insane
I can see how it may come across as annoying but a lot of times it’s just a way of forming rapport
I prefer it to dude or mate or a derogative nick name
I'm guilty of using bro/bruh as a synonym for dude or douchebag.

Bro
I know, right bro? Like bruh, honestly?
“Bro” at the end of every sentence. Lol I’m growing to be annoyed by it.
What if it's at the start of every sentence? /S
Absolutely annoying. I won't even repeat it.
Damn bro who cares?
I use to know woman who used bro or dude and it was so unattractive.
Yes somehow there's a peculiar reaction when you're hear women saying it.
Also "boss"
My son's friends call me "bruh." LOL I'm a 63 year old woman and it cracks me up. They are all in their mid 30's and I've known them since grade school.
Sorry bro.
I say bro all the time
Hey, bro, you got a problem with "bro", bro? Bro, be a bro and understand that bros use bro, bro. It's just what bros do. I mean... bro...
Bro shut up. It’s not that big of a deal
Br0
It sucks, bro!
I hate it. And I’m a woman. Don’t call me bro. So stupid
Bruh 💀
Aye bro I hate it too. It would probably be better if the word wasn’t so overused and used too many times in the same phrase
Bruh
Bruh, I feel ya.
Ok "dude"😂
Agreed, but 'brah' is worse. That's an undergarment. Also worse is 'boss'. You're definitely a douchebag if you call a random guy 'boss' or 'boss man'.
Daddy chill
How do we feel about bruh and brah?
Bro spelled backwards is Orb.
I hate it when my son calls me 'bro' or 'dude'. I'm not some fuckboy from Sweet Valley High.
Bro
You and my husband would get along. I call everyone either Bro or Dude. It drives him crazy
Brah Chill Out 😂
Bro got a crazy Pet peeve 💀
Bruh
Yea bro, I get what you mean, I always hate it when Bros call me Bud. I'm just like Bro, not cool bro
Start calling everyone babe and see how you go.
I think it’s bruh.
And boi especially if you're over 18. Stop.
Bruh
Most of the people that say that probably don't have a very high intelligence level.
Like you have to curse to make a point?
I guess I can try a new opening, “what’s up bitch”
