Yes lots of people (not just kids) use the skatepark. The field is underutilized and development is appropriate. 16 pickleball courts may not be appropriate, however studies are being undertaken to determine what is appropriate. I live in the area and support the development based on the conclusions of studies (to which OP told me to die in a house fire a few months ago for lmao)
The thing is it’s millions of dollars spent on a games right now when we’re lacking essential services. The council just showed their ignorance by pushing this forward
Yes. Not installing pickleball courts will resolve the housing crisis 🙄. 4.4 million is chump change. Thats the value of 4 to up to 10 (if theyre trash homes) of the NIMBYs homes living to the west of the site. Give me a break

It’s funny how Peterborough is always a one issue town. Farmers market drama, new twin pad arena, radioactive pellets at GE. These same people just move onto the next issue they can find to drag this city back in to the dark ages.
This isn’t a one issue town. There are too many people without social supports, too many homeless, not enough doctors. The fact that the city is looking at spending millions of dollars on Pickleball Courts when there are real issues affecting all of us is a joke.

Maybe "these same people" happen to be the ones who take action when the City is doing something that stinks! They get off their rear ends and try use their voices to correct wrongs.
I read in the citys own document they recommend locating the courts in a maximum number of 8 and at least 150 meters of residences.
The same document recommends 16 courts within 15 meters of residences lol.

Just fill the park with a bigger, (more usable on all levels) skate park and pump track for EVERYONE to utilize. The park we have now was built many many years ago and seems to be for more advanced riders. With a more spread out park a lot more people will use it.

At one of the recent council meetings where Bonnerworth came up, staff said there would be user fees. Like for other sports fields, it’s free to just walk up and use, but there will be a fee to book for exclusive use.
