Agree with your points except for western beauty standard. Lighter skin is an Asian beauty standard, as can be seen in other East Asian/Southeast Asian/South Asian countries, even those that weren’t conquered by the west. If anything the standard is classist, more than western.
I know that the lighter skin trend in Asian beauty has also influenced the Philippines, but our country's beauty standards are, and always have been, deeply rooted in our colonial past.
Especially during our colonial and post-colonial era, and I'll place extra emphasis sa neocolonial era (late 40’s to 70ish), our beauty standards were always the mestiza/Spanish type. Considering M.P.'s age, it's likely that this continues to be her beauty standard up until now.

I’m much more inclined to believe that the obsession with white skin is Asian as we can observe the same phenomena across the regions surrounding us, even though they don’t share the same history with the West.
