Iāll respect othersā opinions, but I personally donāt get the appeal of having your crust like that. I know alot of people here like it that way, but I just donāt get it š¤·āāļø
You donāt usually get a strong burnt taste though, itās usually just the outer edge of a bubble that burns from the wood fire. The bottom of the pizza is usually not burnt at all.
There's dark spots, very dark and ash...
This is closer to ash and will definitely taste like crap.
That's when you see people just pick out the crust.
Bit too much for me.
With all due respect to others I believe it's something you gotta be born into. I couldn't eat burnt anything but I guess if that's what I knew growing up I would lap it up lol.
Lol thatās your opinion that thatās the proper amount a pizza should be cooked. I respect your opinion, I just donāt get the appeal of eating crust like that.
I have the exact same feelings but towards the pizza styles in the northeast.
Pizza styles/toppings can be oddly polarizing and I think itās because the dish so universally adored.
It's really not tough. It's crackly and very airy. Either way, the menu mentions they cook the pizzas like that as SOP, but if you want it cooked less, they'll do it your way.
Regina Pizzeria (North End)
BROCCOLI AGLIO E OLIO (White Pizza) - Fresh chopped garlic, broccoli florets, Pecorino Romano, Mozzarella, fresh basil and, Reginaās garlic sauce.
Top with their chili oil.
It's my (theoretical) death-row meal.
https://preview.redd.it/jarotoaa1t3d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cab876e55dafeb9cda01a1db754426b6b294f982
Regina's is one of my favorites. I love their meatball pomodoro. It's fantastic. I also love their pepperoni. My friend and I would split a pizza. Gosh I miss Regina's!
Nah. I just had both and been sevral times to santarpios. Regina's crust had less flavor then santarpios. And santarpios is super consistent, every pie has been fantastic. Plus they have an oven that cooks hotter, so I can't do there pizza at home. I can make a pizza better then Regina's in my oven, from scratch.
Have you had it lately? The last pie I got was literally under cooked with raw dough in parts. And the sauce had old sauce mixed in from days prior. And I was there at a fairly prime time, 12:30ish. Frankly it was so poor a pie I wouldn't go back to Regina's. Nor would I recomend it.
This was at their original location not a mall or somthing.
I got Mike's and modern connoli, Mike's is 10000% better then modern, modern was actually shit.
I get it all the time, it always hits, but sounds like you had a bad one. I could go either way on the cannoli front. In general I feel like you canāt go too wrong in north end
I have had Bencotto and Quattro on the same street. Quattro's meat balls are to die for. I think i have had Picco's before.. Do they have slices in the window? Square slices for takeaway? I know i haven't had the pizza pictured though.
Not to be nitpicky but the cook should work on his dough stretching technique as it is not a circle at all for the third picture and also I agree with not cutting the basil as well.
Someone who owns a pizza shop posted on here the other week showing 2 burnt pizzas that got returned to them. Their crust looked a similar level of doneness as these but the toppings were also fully burnt in parts. This is a perfect t example of having charred crust but very critically none of the toppings are burnt!
I remember a post of a genuine neopolitan pizza from Italy getting roasted by americans because it didn't look like the typical round mass-manufactured pizza literally even the southern African country of Mozambique has.
And now there's this burnt thing covered in oil, getting drooled over.
I'm sure it's tasty, tho, eat as much of that as you want.
Enjoy! However you like your pizza, enjoy.
I think the BEST pizza, is one where you're eating with family and friends, laughing and having a good time, having your favorite beverage like a soda, or maybe an ice-cold beer... I'm starting to think it's not so much the pizza, but it's the memories you create that makes your pizza special.
Sincerely, however you enjoy your pizza, I hope you're having the time of your life!
We donāt have an abundance of good pizza here. We do have good pizza, but itās spread out, and stylistically all over the place.
Please donāt call it beantown, we donāt even call it that.
Man itās not even [top 10](https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2024/02/28/americas-15-safest-cities-most-dangerous-cities-moneygeek-report/?sh=33c2fb833b05).
i live in Seaport. either way, none of the cities mentioned in the article are major cities. therefor, confirming Boston is the safest major city in the country.. thus, making it the best.
Itās honestly truly the best. I love all pizzas and I love my city. This is the best Iāve ever had. You have to get there early. Once they sell out they sell out. The old man makes one batch a day and it is so more than worth whatever line you have to wait in. So good. Iām hesitant to tell people about it even.
i hear that! i live like 20 mins walking distance so i will definitely get there when they open! does he sell boxes or just slices? i hear the slices are super cheap too which is awesome! i love supporting mom and pops since thereās basically 0 left these days. nice to see his shop is still standing even after the covid bs
I agree with the others who said it. This is burnt. You want "leoparding" or some burnt spots but this is just burnt. And it looks like someone threw up all the ingredients on the pie. It looks like whoever made this pie wanted to see if they could break a world record for fastest pizza made. š
Besides the burnt parts, probably still tasted fire.
Wow! Looks absolutely incredible. I wonder if they cook with a wood or gas fire? Wood fired is the best IMO, but if this was on gas I would still want to try it. Thanks for sharing!
[u/Spirited-Pomelo1764](https://new.reddit.com/user/Spirited-Pomelo1764/) is right. Piccos is the best pizza in Boston. And their ice cream is awesome, too.
Are you drunk bro? Youāre either drunk and/or youāre baiting with this post because your title is claiming this is the best pizza in Boston but then your description specifies best Neapolitan Pizza. Regardless, all real locals know Reginaās is the best pizza in Beantown and has been for over 3 generations. FOH with this nonsense š¤¦āāļø
chill the fuck out. best = best in my opinion. best because Neapolitan pizza is my favorite style pizza, bro. and iāve lived in Boston my whole life so i am a real local. and yeah i am drunk itās friday night so go fucking enjoy yours buddy
Your title literally says thereās no better pizza in Boston than Picco. Thatās disrespectful bro. I fw Piccoās but to disrespect Reginaās like that doesnāt fly with me bro. Itās all good tho I remember my first beer
Strong agree. Lived in Boston for 2 years and Picco and Reginaās in the north end were my favorites by far. They each scratched a very different itch as well.
For those complaining about the char, I personally donāt mind it, but Iāve also never had a pie with that much char from Picco. So I wouldnāt judge it based on that alone.
Edit: Shoutout to Brewerās Fork in Charlestown as well. Fun toppings and good vibes.
FACTS! I've had Chicago deep dish in Chicago, NY style in New York, various pizzas over seas and I can honestly say it's the best pizza I've ever had in the world. Nothing even comes close! I could flood this sub with pics from Picco.
I gotta be honest. That's pretty freakin' beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous š¤
Did you use it as a sled?
If you like Picco you have to check out Ciao Pizza in Chelsea!
Ciao hands down my favorite pizza spot in Boston.
I totally agree! I lived in Chelsea briefly last summer and I got Ciao almost every week.
iāve been dying to go there! it looks so good!!
It is definitely worth the trip!
Iāll respect othersā opinions, but I personally donāt get the appeal of having your crust like that. I know alot of people here like it that way, but I just donāt get it š¤·āāļø

Crust like what? Cooked?
Overcooked lol. Enjoy it how you like, but a burned/charred crust is overcooked IMO
Thatās actually the proper amount a pizza should be cooked. You must be new to cooked food
Lol thatās your opinion that thatās the proper amount a pizza should be cooked. I respect your opinion, I just donāt get the appeal of eating crust like that.
lol, itās not just my opinion. Itās the opinion of professional pizza makers
This is correct. The top of the pizza should have black spots.
I have the exact same feelings but towards the pizza styles in the northeast. Pizza styles/toppings can be oddly polarizing and I think itās because the dish so universally adored.
i personally think it tastes god awful on top of looking bad. but to each their own i guess?
Yeah, not a fan of the taste, texture, or look of burnt crust. Iāll just never understand the appeal I guess
Itās an elitism thing, but itās bland burned trash.
Agreed. I can tell that crust is tough as fuck from the picture alone. People with crowns, dentures, or braces don't get to enjoy that crust AT ALL.
It's really not tough. It's crackly and very airy. Either way, the menu mentions they cook the pizzas like that as SOP, but if you want it cooked less, they'll do it your way.

Regina's is one of my favorites. I love their meatball pomodoro. It's fantastic. I also love their pepperoni. My friend and I would split a pizza. Gosh I miss Regina's!
sounds good! iāll have to give that a try
This ! I am european and I visited Boston 12 years ago. Regina's pizzas are one of the best pizzas I have ever tasted; Italy included.
All due respect to your choice but the Napoletana well done is the way to go imo
Santarpios is way better. Regina is overhyped mids
Regina's crust >>> Santarpios
Nah. I just had both and been sevral times to santarpios. Regina's crust had less flavor then santarpios. And santarpios is super consistent, every pie has been fantastic. Plus they have an oven that cooks hotter, so I can't do there pizza at home. I can make a pizza better then Regina's in my oven, from scratch.
āI can make a pizza better then* Reginaās in my ovenā¦ā No. You cannot
Yeah, I definitely can. Actually my crust is better.
Santarpios is great but Regina mid? Cmon man
Have you had it lately? The last pie I got was literally under cooked with raw dough in parts. And the sauce had old sauce mixed in from days prior. And I was there at a fairly prime time, 12:30ish. Frankly it was so poor a pie I wouldn't go back to Regina's. Nor would I recomend it. This was at their original location not a mall or somthing. Looks fucking lit bro. I am an hour away from Boston and now have plans for tomorrow. Thanks!!
of course! enjoy!
I have had Bencotto and Quattro on the same street. Quattro's meat balls are to die for. I think i have had Picco's before.. Do they have slices in the window? Square slices for takeaway? I know i haven't had the pizza pictured though.
i donāt believe they do slices unfortunately.. but iāve also never asked so maybe give them a call and see? let me know if they do!
Will do!
Quattro takes the cake for neo style imo. Everything is so fresh. Albeit, neo is not my favorite and I havenāt tried a lot of Bostonās neo pizza
Looks good, but I don't see what this has to do with Neapolitan pizza. This would not pass AVPN standards. Still looks delicious.
Not to be nitpicky but the cook should work on his dough stretching technique as it is not a circle at all for the third picture and also I agree with not cutting the basil as well.
r/pizzacrimes has entered the chat
That first one looks burnt.
There's a very fine line between the right amount of char and being burnt. That one crossed it. Third pie is a thing of beauty though!!Ā
Looks like shit honestly.
Looks burnt.
Iām turned on.
Big time
Someone who owns a pizza shop posted on here the other week showing 2 burnt pizzas that got returned to them. Their crust looked a similar level of doneness as these but the toppings were also fully burnt in parts. This is a perfect t example of having charred crust but very critically none of the toppings are burnt!
They make good ice cream there too.
absolutely love their ice cream! i canāt decide whether i like the ice cream or pizza more hahah
However that basil knife work is tweaking my brain š§
Is this in response to the other post?
Looks like they burned a good amount of calories in a short amount of time there
Town Spa in Stoughton or Lynnwood in Randolph
town spa is my all time favorite pizza! grew up on it
I remember a post of a genuine neopolitan pizza from Italy getting roasted by americans because it didn't look like the typical round mass-manufactured pizza literally even the southern African country of Mozambique has. And now there's this burnt thing covered in oil, getting drooled over. I'm sure it's tasty, tho, eat as much of that as you want.
i will admit it doesnāt look the greatest but it tastes awesome. deff worth a try
wow
That looks amazing and I want to put it in my face.
Picco is solid
This is exactly how pizza should look. āBurntā on top. If there is zero black on the top of your pie, youāre not cooking it correctly.
Sincerely, however you enjoy your pizza, I hope you're having the time of your life!
amen to that!! completely agree with you. the memories you make are most important!
It looks absolutely gorgeous.
This is satire, yes?
Nice looking pies
Damn that looks so good
Put the charred bits in my mouf
Bro, I bet itās good but it looks horrible
Sloppy, burnt mess
Just too burnt but pretty ok
I can somehow hear the cook yelling from back "you doan \*\*\*\*\*\*\* like the burn then you doan get no \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* za you gibroni."

But someone else just posted another Boston pizza join us 11/10 best pizza on earth. Which is true?
Who all ate Joeās pizza in nyc?
Why is Boston thinking they have any say in pizza today? Stick to your lobster rolls
we canāt mention the best place to find pizza in our city so others can enjoy..? lmfao and newsflash Boston is the best city in the country
Bro I lived in Boston for years and itās definitely not š
itās definitely the safest major city which is whatās important
Man itās not even [top 10](https://www.forbes.com/sites/laurabegleybloom/2024/02/28/americas-15-safest-cities-most-dangerous-cities-moneygeek-report/?sh=33c2fb833b05).
none of those cities are major citiesā¦.
You didnāt read the full article. You must be from Billerica.
i live in Seaport. either way, none of the cities mentioned in the article are major cities. therefor, confirming Boston is the safest major city in the country.. thus, making it the best.
You realize it says Boston is #13th ?
you realize large city doesnāt = major cities? time to go back to school bud.
Damn, itās actually galleria umberto hands down. But thatās okay. I respect picco.
iāve been meaning to try that place! looks incredible. but thatās probably the best sicilian pizza in town
Itās honestly truly the best. I love all pizzas and I love my city. This is the best Iāve ever had. You have to get there early. Once they sell out they sell out. Love Galleria Umberto. Need to get the arancini also
Cries in west coast
you guys have in and out burger tho!
If youāre willing to wait 45 minutes in line for it as we speak
I'm a thin crust new haven kind of guy myself.
Unfortunate
They look great aside from the uneven topping distribution

Call me crazy but mozz on top of pepperoni takes some getting used to.
Doesn't look Neapolitan, but I'd crush that!
I need to go there if I ever visit Boston
Looks good but I like the pepperoni to crisp up in the oven. Therefore, I would not cover them with cheese.
That looks awful.
Looks like a delicious mess of a good time.
Styles make bites. Every one has their preference you know, ChicharrĆ³n
Wow! Looks absolutely incredible. I wonder if they cook with a wood or gas fire? Wood fired is the best IMO, but if this was on gas I would still want to try it. Thanks for sharing!
Looks better than that santarpaios someone posted earlier. Neither look world class by any means.
The Alsatian is the only way to go!
I'd happily eat that, but I don't see how it can reasonably be called Neapolitan pizza.
Holyā¦
I believe you.
That looks like the pizza from my local favorite bazbeax's. So I can only assume that your pizza is also divine.
Damn, that looks perfect.
[u/Spirited-Pomelo1764](https://new.reddit.com/user/Spirited-Pomelo1764/) is right. Piccos is the best pizza in Boston. And their ice cream is awesome, too.
best ice cream ever!
When did burnt pizza become a delicacy?
Fuck you now I'm hungry lmao
I'm literally 400ft away and my wife just had pizza for lunch... Fudge.
go tomorrow!
picco gave me the best pizza iāve ever had 15 years ago
Burnt
It's burnt

First picture looks too messy, cheesy and oily. The other two look nice, though a bit burnt
This is torture as a Bostonian living in Dallas aka the pizza wasteland.
Thatās a good pizza. Iāll have to go this weekend!
Are you drunk bro? Youāre either drunk and/or youāre baiting with this post because your title is claiming this is the best pizza in Boston but then your description specifies best Neapolitan Pizza. Iāve been staring at this for a while now
That doesn't look good. Santarpios is still the best. Poor cheese and sauce covering. And the crust is charred. What's the price of it?
Im with you bro, this looks fucking terrible lmao. Just massive cheese wastelands, objectively burnt crust, avante garde topping placement.
The cheese will slide right off. Even Neapolitan holds together better than this.
God is that you? Are you a pizza this time around?
Perfection
