As long as they share the same locations for plants and such. Yes

planzoo6

Even that's not necessary. If there's a plant that occurs in both tropical Asia and also temperate North America, for example, you could keep a tropical Asian species with a temperate North American species even though they don't share a continent or biome, using that plant.

ImanIdgit

To expand on this: In your particular situation, Gemsbok and Springbok are both African ungulates and the odds of them having plants/Enrichment Items/etc. in common are greatly in your favour.

LucasTheOtter

Ah well that makes so much sense now I have a gemsbok habitat with just them as of rn, but due to their social structure there are a lot of outsider males that constantly get into fights with the alpha so I will probably move them into my colossal savannah enclosure with half of Africa in their lmao

Magicalicotherium

Carnivores need to stay separate from other species (there are some exceptions though- tortoises can get along with absolutely everybody). Rhinos will fight other species of rhinos or hippos. Otherwise basically everybody will get along socially, though they may be incompatible in terms of preferred temperature or plants.

LucasTheOtter

ahaha Obvi I would never put the lions in with the zebras, funny about the rhinos tho thought they were chill

Yes, the game doesn’t really make this clear so it was ages before I started mixing non-bonus species but it works well if they share biome/foliage requirements. There are various spreadsheets and resources people have put together on the compatibility of the different species but my favourite is Villanelle’s Data Chest (off to find you the link…)

Villanelle’s amazing spreadsheet can be found here https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetZoo/s/DTNspa9NsV

There’s also a great one here https://www.reddit.com/r/PlanetZoo/s/KB8vVfvMEw by senginous which focuses on habitat planning.

Thank you so much!!
