firefly lamps are cool. no annoying noise, cool looking, can be put on dining table, crafting stations, inside of the top of the loo, corners of mysterious stone tablet, bath tub etc... It just too cool not to use it.

I do really like my firefly hip lantern, but they sure do diminish rapidly and I've got to keep up with the firefly supply. I wouldn't mind so much if I had a more reliable source. Any tips on how you are keeping up with the demand?

RedditModsAreMyIdols

They are talking about the firefly lantern the furniture piece, not the portable one. You can make it on the building table i believe

grainzzz

Do you need to keep feeding fireflies to this kind of lamp?

I_Am_The_Owl__

No, they last forever. Pretty handy light source.

grainzzz

Oh excellent! Thanks.

Ackilles

You need one like every 3 feet though, such a small radius

I_Am_The_Owl__

Fair, they're not strong light sources. I use them as beacons outdoors for the most part. Put one near the door of each building and you can run around in the dark.

RegnorVex

Ahhhh, now that makes perfect sense. Thanks!

There are oil lamps later on, but I haven't used them so can't confirm they won't have the same problem.

Boomerang_comeback

The oil lamps work well. No sound. More even light over a wider area. I only need one per room. And a couple of my rooms are quite large. I'm still in bronze and got them going. You will need to find some peanuts or cashews so you can start a crop growing to make oil for fuel. I never found a peanut or cashew crop in a barbarian camp yet. However I have found them several times in chests of scout camps.

The firefly wall lamps are really the best light source in the game. They use no fuel and are completely silent. The only real downside is that they're rather dim. Wall torches provide Comfort, so having one is probably a good idea, but the majority of my base lighting comes from fireflies.

Ackilles

Use the standing brazier things. They eat any type of wood and put off light in a huge area

RegnorVex

How noisy are they? Noise why I'm avoiding the wall torches.
