Edith Finch was great to get. I'm still playing Battlefield V and Wreckfest to this day. Grid Legends is a good arcade racer too, played it for quite a bit when it came out on Plus.
Chivalry 2 I'm enjoying more on the PC, couldn't get used to the controller as the movement felt sluggish during fast attacks.
I am not a Battlefield player, at best I have been a casual gamer of Black Ops (loved zombies Kino!) and BO II perhaps, with that said, with the past of the years I have acquired several BF titles because of subscriptions and such, V and 2042 come to my head right now, would you or any BF player recommend me one of those as my "entry" title?
Battlefield V: refined gunplay, devastating armor, tighter maps, variety of game modes. Pacific Expansion (free) the best DLC every to come to battlefield. Killer soundtrack. Biggest issues have been patches out.
Battlefield 2042 (in it's current state): large player counts, more integrated combined arms (jets, tanks, etc), big maps, more "classic" player controller and anims.
2042 will have more of a COD feel with the shooting. I'd recommend Breakthrough as a gamemode, and you'll probably have a great time. If you want WW2 with more sliding movement and a less weighty character -- BFV is also very good.
We'll be getting a new one in 2-3 years (fingers crossed). My mantra is always, "There's never been a Bad Battlefield for longer than 6 months". Even at it's worst launch, Dice always rebounds and turns the game into something people will be playing a decade later (despite any hate you might see online).
Thank you for this comment I will take it into consideration, and yeah I agree with you, even when I see some hate out there, I got the feeling that everyone is playing the titles and enjoying them, hence why I was confused of which one to go with.
Edith Finch and Wreckfest were enjoyable. I didn't mind GRID but as a trophy hunter it was a pain.
FIFA 22 keeps my Football itch relieved because I no longer go out of my way to buy the games anymore so I wouldn't mind EA giving FC24 away.
Didn’t pick up BFV when it was free in 2021 but purchased it about a year ago and have had an absolute blast with it, it’s become one of my staples.
Picked up Cities Skylines, played it for a bit, couldn’t quite get the hang of it. It’s odd, because I love strategy and simulation games and play plenty of Paradox-developed games on my laptop (I know that Skylines is just published by Paradox, but still). Might try again someday.
Got Chivalry 2, haven’t played it yet. It wasn’t something I really had my eye on, but was at least intriguing enough to be worth adding to my library for free.
Yes, BFV is so much fun. When the games were announced, many people were criticizing BFV as the worst battlefield game and so I claimed it but didn't look forward to it.
But after playing Hell Let Loose on PC, I wanted a WW2 shooter that was more relaxing and decided to try it out and have been playing it occasionally.
It had a rocky development and its live service unfortunately ended before it was really finished, but the game just does so much right. Tons of cool features that just make the game fun to play. Throwing back grenades, squad reinforcements, squad revives, lying on your back, rolling after falling, building fortifications, revive syringes and repair tools as integrated gadgets within their respective classes, etc. The game just feels so fluid and smooth to play, and the weapon and map variety is solid. It’s probably the most enjoyable Battlefield title to me.
There was a petition to change the games for the Farming/Cities month that year.
But they gave away Horizon Zero Dawn, Ratchet & Clank, Journey and a [bunch of highly rated indies](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fexternal-preview.redd.it%2F9XtwBltkXzwZHFpjawT5lEURVdg2Pah9nIqRcOCChXQ.jpg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D78ea89920a0f471fa22485d30617493ab8f1a5e4) for free to all players during covid.
Yeah I claimed those PSVR games even though I didn’t have one at the time, then last year I bought a used one. It was nice having Astro Bot and Paper Beast to play for free. Sony also gave us a couple other PSVR games at some point too, maybe with Essential, because I had Moss, Farpoint, Wipeout Omega Collection, the Persistence, REZ Infinite, and Thumper in my collection too.
Out of curiosity I have to wonder if the majority is even playing these games they collect every month? I mean, people are trampling over themselves waiting for the exact second they are released and nobody talks about them after that.
Only really enjoyed Edith Finch and Curse of the Dead God's, but the latter just didn't hit the same after Hades (still had a lot of fun with it though)
I really enjoyed Wreckfest, one of my favorite free monthly games since I subscribed. We ll see if the monthly games this month will be enough to make my resubscribe to my recently expired PS+, otherwise I ll wait for the next sale, like many seem to do since the price raise.
Chivalry 2 is one of the best monthly games they've ever given out. I didn't know about it or expect to enjoy it so much, but it's fantastic. Playing in first person is a blast, and switching to third person if you lose your limbs is always good for a laugh.
Edith Finch was also great.
1 for 13 for me. Edith Finch was the only one I played through.
I tried Curse but rogue/roguelikes just don't hold my attention.
They rest went into the library for a one day, maybe, if nothing else if available.
I had a lot of fun with curse of the old gods - it’s not as polished as something like Hades but was great fun for 15-20 hrs
The developer has another game, Ravenswatch, in alpha on steam and it’s also great esp with coop options
Lol, only one of these I've actually wanted to play and played was Overcooked.
Not saying the others are bad necessarily, but May is just not the month for me it seems.
Hi I'd like to ask if it would be possible to add VR2 compatible games to the PsPlus bundle for the game of the month, maybe 3+1VR.
There are some demos and trials but little action and no game of the month for VR.
I really enjoyed Descenders. Got the 100%. Very challenging, but in digestible chunks. Even the "perfect" runs just required safety over crazyness. I'm good at turtling.
It’s 100% the funniest game I have ever played. Beating the shit out of someone with a candelabra and following it up with a chair/turkey combo is world class.
Pretty poor for me. Youve got the classic Edith Finch, and I had some fun with Farming Simulator but the rest are a bit meh. Hopefully this month will buck the trend
Historically a not so great month. But I remember I really hated 2020 but then I started playing Cities Skyline and got hooked. Must have put almost triple digits hours into that game.
only good game on there is overcooked (and maybe edith finch, haven’t tried)
cities skylines would be close but the console version runs like powerpoint
Battlefield V is a great offering, although EA games tend to plummet in cost pretty quickly. I also enjoyed Grid Legends, one of a handful of games I've completed in the last few years.
The other games are pretty weak though, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope
Huh, I forgot about wreckfest and just went to download it as I thought my kid might like it and it is no longer in my library. Weird. Still have the other two games from that month, so I claimed if for sure.
I can also ADD TO LIBRARY in PSPlus Extra, but don’t want to do that if it will overwrite my essential license.
Any ideas?
Sony has done nothing to justify the price increase. I've been paying since ps4. The good free games were far and few between.
But ever since the egregious price hike last November, it's been hot garbage after hot garbage
Its honestly just a joke how high the prices raised and they've given out damn near nothing but trash since then just mind boggling just get a pc and roam the high sea's 😂🤣✌the one piece is the games we repacked together
Looking back at this, May doesn't really have many games that interest me. Interesting stuff tend to be given out Q1 or Q4.
I do play Cities Skylines, but on PC. I also played Edith Finch here recently for the trophy, only to find out that the old PS4 version (this one) doesn't have Platinum in it.
Lol, just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's trash or no one else liked it. I liked getting Immortals, Skrul, and several others in the last few months,
The way you've ordered the years makes me think of "Don't Dead Open Inside"

I was trying to keep the image compact and ended up arranging them like that to avoid another row of images :D
2023 probably couldve been moved to the right hand side but its not that bad, would look worse with another row lmao so good decision
Next time pick an even number of years to represent lol
I actually wanted to include 2018 too but it has PS3 and Vita games, so kept it to just PS4 & PS5.
nvm that guy you did the right thing
Either we're gonna get a gem or absolute horse shit no inbetween
Usually three games per month, right? I'd guess we're getting a rough gem that didn't sell well, an EA sports title, and a horse shit game.
With how things have been going this year I wouldn't get my hopes up. You won't be disappointed if you have 0 expectations from Sony.
That's true 😭

BattlefieldV is probably my longest game I have played from ps subscription , love it

2042 is way better than V. V is probably the worst battlefield game
Edith Finch and Wreckfest were enjoyable. I didn't mind GRID but as a trophy hunter it was a pain. FIFA 22 keeps my Football itch relieved because I no longer go out of my way to buy the games anymore so I wouldn't mind EA giving FC24 away.
I hear there are creams for that sort of itch
Thropy hunter sounds too proud 🤣
Actually enjoyed Grid Legends just for the cheesy story mode with the live action actors in the cutscenes lol.
We are doomed for this month I guess
the last few months seem mid anyways i don’t have my hopes up
Chiv 2 and bfv are both great games
Wreckfest is also fun for what it is
bfv is the call of duty of the battlefield franchise
Thats 2042. Bfv was a great battlefield game by the end of is development
personally i could not at all get into bfv, and that was when i tried it around 2021. but maybe i was just unlucky with dull lobbies
I found the pacific front maps to be the funnest
Didn’t pick up BFV when it was free in 2021 but purchased it about a year ago and have had an absolute blast with it, it’s become one of my staples. Cities games are better with a mouse and keyboard for me.
You can play with Mouse and Keyboard in console edition
Yes, BFV is so much fun. When the games were announced, many people were criticizing BFV as the worst battlefield game and so I claimed it but didn't look forward to it. Chivalry 2 was super fun, I played that game so many hours last summer
2020 was a bad year my goodness. As if Covid and end times weren’t scary enough they give us farming similator 19 lol
SUBNAUTICA??? How did I miss it…
Yeah I claimed those PSVR games even though I didn’t have one at the time, then last year I bought a used one. It was nice having Astro Bot and Paper Beast to play for free. Best year imo , Don't care about Farming but I sunk 400hr+ into Cities.
A lot of people were into Farm Simulator. I've never tried it, myself.
FS is actually a good game/simulator, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea
Farming Simulator isn't my thing, but Cities Skylines is an incredible game
Wreckfest is fun af
Out of curiosity I have to wonder if the majority is even playing these games they collect every month? I mean, people are trampling over themselves waiting for the exact second they are released and nobody talks about them after that.
Only really enjoyed Edith Finch and Curse of the Dead God's, but the latter just didn't hit the same after Hades (still had a lot of fun with it though)
I’m hoping for at least one good game this May come on Sony don’t let me down
Chiv 2 was my favourite out of all of these
Where is the reveal of the games for may? I thought by this day we already would know what we are getting.
It's tomorrow.
I used to try at least one or two each month and got some gems. I don’t think I’ve even tried one in several months.
I'm still playing battlefield 5.
Is it good??
It's great. The campaign is mah but the online is still active with next to zero wait time for a match
No he’s still playing it because he thinks it’s bad.
I really enjoyed Wreckfest, one of my favorite free monthly games since I subscribed. We ll see if the monthly games this month will be enough to make my resubscribe to my recently expired PS+, otherwise I ll wait for the next sale, like many seem to do since the price raise.

I love overcooked and Chivalry 2
Rip to fifa22 shutting down…
1 for 13 for me. Edith Finch was the only one I played through. I tried Curse but rogue/roguelikes just don't hold my attention. They rest went into the library for a one day, maybe, if nothing else if available.

I have a feeling we will either get FC24 or Forspoken.
I had fun with Wreckfest!
So many games... so little time. I am looking for the next month of games I will probably never play... so sad.
Out of all of those games, I played 2 of them. Battlefield and wreckfest
2021 was amazing
Chivalry 2 was awesome but I already had it and descenders I played for an embarrassing amount of time
So may sucks yeah?
2021 was good ngl
I still play Wreckfest and Chivalry 2 almost every day.
They have given VR games on few occasions but right now it looks like 3 games only.
2019 is the best just because of what remains of edith finch
Racing games 👌
It looks like consistently that May has been one of the weakest months year after year. Here's hoping they change that.
Loved Edith Finch, and I'm literally still playing Chiv 2 at least once a week 😂
Oh man I can’t get over how awful the order is in lol
I really hope we get sonic frontiers
ADD ps Plus essential may Dead Space Remake PLEASE! SONY
I really enjoyed Descenders. Got the 100%. Very challenging, but in digestible chunks. Even the "perfect" runs just required safety over crazyness. I'm good at turtling.
May is like always the weakest month in the year, so I have no expectations at all for the upcoming games
Damn, rough month for PS Plus lol
Bad month.
2021 and 23 were great, the rest are ehhhh. Apart from Cities Skylines and maybe overcooked, they could do away with much, much better selections.
totally off-topic, but shooooot, I may have downloaded Edith Finch from extra, instead of essential... another license messed up.
I always check my library before adding any game from Extra because of this.
Chivalry is easily one of the funniest, and one my favorite games Ive ever played.
Yes. I once killed a guy by throwing a loaf of bread at him when we both were low on health and missing our swords.
It’s 100% the funniest game I have ever played. Beating the shit out of someone with a candelabra and following it up with a chair/turkey combo is world class.
Don't sleep on Curse of the Dead Gods
Is that a “☝️” on the Edith Finch game cover?
Loved Edith Finch. Haven’t played any of the others.
Judging how shit this year is I’m expecting nothing
Tribes of Midgard was great fun with a couple friends.
GID DAMIT I SHOULDA GOTTEN MY YEAR IN 2021 I WANTED STARNDED DEEP
Ever since they raised the price of ps+ we’ve gotten like 2 okay games
Wich are the may games for 2024? How i compare?
They will be announced tomorrow.
Pretty poor for me. Youve got the classic Edith Finch, and I had some fun with Farming Simulator but the rest are a bit meh. Hopefully this month will buck the trend
I still remember the collective outrage for the May games in 2020 and the fact that there was a large petition to change the ps plus games
All of these games besides BF 5 ended up on extra
Historically a not so great month. But I remember I really hated 2020 but then I started playing Cities Skyline and got hooked. Must have put almost triple digits hours into that game.
My usual guess is something Star Wars related due to May the 4th. …….this has never been corrct
only good game on there is overcooked (and maybe edith finch, haven’t tried) cities skylines would be close but the console version runs like powerpoint
So we're in for another poor month of "free" games
Battlefield V is a great offering, although EA games tend to plummet in cost pretty quickly. I also enjoyed Grid Legends, one of a handful of games I've completed in the last few years. The other games are pretty weak though, so I wouldn't hold out too much hope
2021 was OP
I wish I was back in 2020 just so I could get cities skylines
*sigh*
None of them are my type.
These past games are pretty bad. Hopefully this year they're good, I don't have high hopes though
I had lots of fun with tribes of midgard
Definitely May have been in the top of the baddest months every year. My birthday is in May, so that's sad
Any ideas?
I only played Overcooked lol
Oh my gosh what a horrible worst lineup games
I’m predicting NHL 24 as one of the games
Welp it’s gonna be a rough month 😂 2023 may was aight tho
Like a dragon ishin please🙏
Chivalry 🗣️🔥
May 2021 went hard.
Damn may 2019 was good.....kinda crap since
May got a track record for being horrible I see not looking forward to this may at all
Sony has done nothing to justify the price increase. I've been paying since ps4. The good free games were far and few between. But ever since the egregious price hike last November, it's been hot garbage after hot garbage
i hope it will be a good game im so excited lol
We got ghostrunner 2 LFG!!!!!!!!
r/Happymealtoyss
Its honestly just a joke how high the prices raised and they've given out damn near nothing but trash since then just mind boggling just get a pc and roam the high sea's 😂🤣✌the one piece is the games we repacked together
Could’ve sworn we already got ghost runner 2
Looking back at this, May doesn't really have many games that interest me. Interesting stuff tend to be given out Q1 or Q4. I do play Cities Skylines, but on PC. I also played Edith Finch here recently for the trophy, only to find out that the old PS4 version (this one) doesn't have Platinum in it.
FC 24 would be nice.
Is gonna be trash again this next month, Sony don't care about Essential anymore
Lol, just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's trash or no one else liked it. I liked getting Immortals, Skrul, and several others in the last few months,
Does the games get revealed tomorrow. (May 1st)?
