Watch some explained runs from Jorbs, he gives some great strategical insights. It's important to remember you don't always have to take a card, it's better not to sometimes so you don't add bulk/junk to your deck.
Tier lists will help to a point but synergies are the core strategy. Also check this site out if you haven't already.

Edit: I platinumed this on PlayStation, took about a year of playing between other games. It was my "downtime" game when I didn't have a new game to play.
Then you definitely shouldn't play Dead Cells and Hades before bed.
I have been playing Slay the Spire, Dead Cells and Hades for the last 6 months.
My back catalogue is just growing now but I'm having the best fun in years.
I've been playing Slay the Spire on steam deck everyday before sleep for the past few months.
Highly recommend not looking up any further information on it and just figuring it out yourself, it makes the journey much more interesting. You can trust that nearly every single option is well balanced, it's almost definitely the most balanced rogue like deck builder.
You can win every single run, it's not luck based at all. Important thing is to look at the map at the beginning of the stage and see what the boss will be, along with deciding how much you want to fight elites etc based on what you get
It is if you just play without so much care. Save the care for a better time.
My logic is, its good coz it doesn't matter if you go bad and lose. You don't lose anything and the point is to play again anyway. So its a good game to play before bed.
I’m usually a trophy grinder, so I was in search of something a little more lax before bed. It’s an amazing game, but my personality type has me grinding a playthrough out for 2.5 hrs since I’m just learning at this point
Great game I just played it soooooo much on my iPhone that I just got bored but legitimately took me a good month or 2 of playing it non stop day and night to get tired of it
I think it’s more fun when you don’t know all the cards and are trying to figure out synergies. I’ve beaten the Silent and Ironclad on ascension 20, and I think I’m getting too bored of it to finish the rest. I’ve definitely put in a ton of hours so I won’t say it’s not great, but eventually you realize that each class has a limited number of viable strategies. I suppose the daily climb and custom games can be a bit more fun with the varying types
Slay the Spire‘s the first game where I realized “aw man it’s 5 am??” in many years. I don’t play it the night before something important any more.
Lesson learned. Super addictive. So far I made it as far as the second to last battle in act 3 with ironclad. It feels so random

Amazing games, terrible sleep aids
Try platting Slay the Spire, Rogue Lords and Inscryption if you liked them :) I managed to do that and it was quite fun. Psn: ZalimYar
Welcome

I love the game. Can’t make it past the final act though and I rarely get past the act 2 bosses lmao
Slay the spire was so fun. I’ve played it for years on all different systems. Hades is the current grind right now.
