I think I see electrical tape on the stainless steel hose on the left. Over the crimped end. Which would lead me to believe it is a factory defective crimp. That could be remedied with a simple pipe clamp to tighten the crimp or if you feel like returning the hose you can. Other than that the only other thing I would check is did she putty the threaded chrome ring/piece that the trap screws into at the inner bottom of the bowl? It could potentially leak and that would be the number one culprit.
