No Karen, the field behind your house isn't sacred ground. Being a NIMBY is cringe.

zolikk

Private NIMBYism is when you personally don't want something around your house just because you don't feel like having it. Not necessarily cringe. Political NIMBYism is this, when bullshit gets brought up masquerading as a "legitimate" reason against the project, when actually it's just some organization or lobby whose primary interest is just to kill the project, and they don't give a shit about sacred grounds or endangered animals. When private individuals are involved it's usually astroturfing.

american-monarchist2

Fuck off corpo. Development is cringe

Pipiopo

A monarchist and a NIMBY? Boys i think we may have found the cringiest man alive.

People like you are the reason that Appalachia still has shit cell signal. Just let us build cell towers on the mountain tops so that I don't loose signal every time I go into a creek bottom.

Educational_Yak_8286

Or someone's house, RIP Killdozer.

Jay_Sit

When you can’t build a hospital because the land is home to an endangered gnat.

Albatrossosaurus

My state had some developments cancelled because an endangered moth was in the area, plot twist it wasn’t endangered I think they did the study wrong or something

ferrango

Sacred sites standing in the way of progress and development as always. Bring forward the steamroller!

Daft_kunt24

Are you saying we should completely bulldoze the Vatican to build a space elevator?

ferrango

The Vatican already has buildings on it. I was assuming this sacred land didn't. Vatican should become part of Italy, so we can milk pilgrims' donations and repay the national debt. Cemeteries on the other hand? Go ahead.

Just like how the keystone pipeline was shifted to go through indiginous land because the town it was originally going to be near petitioned out of environmental fears.
