Political NIMBYism is this, when bullshit gets brought up masquerading as a "legitimate" reason against the project, when actually it's just some organization or lobby whose primary interest is just to kill the project, and they don't give a shit about sacred grounds or endangered animals.
When private individuals are involved it's usually astroturfing.
