Old pole got cut and moved over so they could install the new one. Now we wait for the telcos to move their lines to the new pole, and old pole goes away.
This. Commonly they might take down everything but the foot or two that low voltage is attached to (just lash it to the new pole) but this pole has some very old vertical phone distribution box on it. So they very kindly left it so that folks could keep their phone service working until Centurylink comes to move it.
Except the robots says this: wooden utility line poles are also known as transmission poles, telegraph poles, telephone poles, power poles, hydro poles, and telecommunication poles
Just to get stupidly over technical, if there are wires, they are carrying some kind of electrical current or light waves. Soā¦ they are indeed āelectrical linesāā¦

The street light is on the new pole, not the temporary old pole everyone is worked up about. You know, the pole that is also holding up the actual electrical utility wires.
Cool, didnāt know that. Thanks for filling us in as to what is going on here. I used to see shit like this all the time in Louisiana, I thought it might be a southern thing.
we all ascribe familiar models onto new things, thats the burden of brains built on pattern recognition. Except me, i know things i dont even know yet.

Whatever, those poles are in love and you know it
I hope they live happily until they tear them apart š¢š¢

No, maybe they are just really good friends.
This is cannon now.
I would have liked them to lash the poles together with some rope in a couple places.
Yep, no powerlines on that old pole, just joint use telco lines that need to be moved.
Always the last (and slowest) part of the project.
Yep. The bane of my existence.
Just gotta engage NJUNS early and bird dog the shit out of them the whole project.
This is lineman 101
Itās been like this for four months. The telecoms sure are slow with this.
Thatās the nurse log for growing the new powerline.
Just a note; Those are telecom lines, not electrical.
Yep. They installed a new pole, but have to wait for the other utilities to move their stuff over to the new pole.
well akshully they're *utility* poles.
Technically those are wooden poles.Ā Ā

Robots, eh?
Just to get stupidly over technical, if there are wires, they are carrying some kind of electrical current or light waves. Soā¦ they are indeed āelectrical linesāā¦
Next you are going to claim it is actually a light pole because there is some fiber optics, which carries light. So indeed this is a light poleā¦ ^/s
Is there a street light attached to the pole? If the answer is āyesā, then itās a ālight poleā, duh.
i'm gonna guess it's actually pretty heavy.
Bad da-Boom-piss.

*slaps pole* That's not going anymore
Are those band-aid brand or generic straps?
If they could talk, theyād be screaming. Poor things.
Faaaade into yoooou...
I woodnāt worry about that
Never thought Iād relate to an electrical pole.
Awwww, theyāre slow dancing
š¤£
Best buddies
It kinda looks like a short middle-school kid standing on books to awkwardly dance with a taller kid
Oh! I hope it doesn't topple and squish someone that would be a headline for sure
You known a telephone pole is just a tree that cleaned up and got a job.
But did they slap it and say thatāll hold?
Street Jenga.

Awww theyāre holding each other
NEEDS A CONE
Whatās the problem?
Put a couple of zip ties around it too, it'll be alright.
Oh Portlandā¦..*smh
Awww. Theyāre holding hands.
Cheaper to go up than to come down I guess.

Iāve seen this in two other places in SE. Crows seem to like having another perch!
