Star Wars and Marvel seem to be fizzling out. Oversaturated with mediocre content.
Also my own unpopular opinion, but Mando was just *fine*. Better production quality than Obi Wan but the script and pacing was just as awkward and slow
Yeah I think stretching IP to its limits and finding massive success was basically lightning in a bottle w/ MCU and it seems like it is going to take a bit longer for execs to realize that it won't be replicable
I watched the first two episodes and it was really meh. The "chase" scenes are comically bad, there's way too much telling and not enough showing, and the recycled dialogue is kind of annoying.
The first scene in the first episode could almost have been a Mitchell and Webb sketch if there had been a punchline.
> there's way too much telling and not enough showing,
Look at how many mouthbreathers saw Vader killing those villagers and said "he's killing just to kill" despite the context and the inquistors speech befor hand clearly point out that the best way to draw a jedi out is to harm innocents
Even when they do "show" people are dense
Until Netflix doesn't produce shows with a satisfying ending at the end of each season, I won't start any new shows until they're finished.
Their cancelling policy as well as their plans to introduce ad plans combined with ever increasing prices will make me quit for sure, the only question left is when.
Disney+ doesn't produce a hundred shows a day, but at least they have shows that are interesting. Book of Boba Fett was obviously a clear fail and Falcon and the Winter Soldier suffered a lot because of the pandemy. Apart from those Disney+ constantly produces at least good shows that are fine in itself even if they don't get continued, especially Mando, Loki, Moon Knight and Obi-Wan.
With the upcoming Andor and Ahsoka in the Star Wars department as well as Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and more in the Marvel department Disney+ has a lot more to offer and look forward to than Netflix.
Netflix just produces everything and doesn't comit to it. It would be better if they focused more on quality than quantity.
> With the upcoming Andor and Ahsoka in the Star Wars department as well as Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk and more in the Marvel department Disney+ has a lot more to offer and look forward to than Netflix.
Ah yes, because Boba, Kenobi, Loki, and Hawkeye REALLY gave us high hopes the clowns running the D+ production-side know what they're doing.
Mando is just a 70's-80's episodic adventure, like Renegade or Kung Fu. It's fun TV not war and peace. There's always that cool music/getting ready montage. People treat star wars so seriously.
When everything is pretty mediocre Mando stands out as above average.
Maybe its because I had zero expectations going in, but I love these seriesā. Theyāre filler obviously.
But the good kind of filler. They just add richness and look sooo good. They visually look better than the movies to me. Whoever did props and wardrobe was amazing.
And very little distracting CG.
My only complaint is that they KNOW we want action because the fist episode started with it. But then they totally remove all action after that.
Y'all can get mad if you want, but Kenobi should've witnessed Vader, not encountered him face to face, their conversation in the OT doesn't make sense now, Leia knew him because he served her father in the clone wars, not because he saved her from kidnappers as a child. Some of the inquisitors act soft despite who they are supposed to be, and others just act illogically considering their stated motivations.
Wow. I enjoyed BoBF well enough. Mando was quite a bit better, but that's a high bar. Obi is off to a...boring start. I had no idea these were poorly received.
The trailer for Halo looked pretty good, I've not watched it though. That's too bad it didn't turn out well.
I agree. Kenobi so far is just meh, not bad but okay. Maybe it's me and my own expectations (thanks to the trailer with it's prequel soundtrack) but it doesn't give me emotions (I guess I'm something of a Jedi myself) I expected to get
Much like Discovery, it split a lot of people. On its own as a sci fi show it's solid. Maybe a little generic but good for what it is. As a continuation of one of the most popular Star Trek shows, a lot of people hate it. I enjoyed it alright but I can totally see why some don't.
Exactly. While Iām not overjoyed with obi-wan, Iām excited to watch it every week. I had to force myself to get through Halo, in faint hopes it would get better. Instead, it got much worse.
Even as one of the more forgiving Star Wars fans, I have been having a rough time on Obi-Wan. It's hard to be hyped on tense moments that you know the overall end to no matter how tense it is. That and there is a LOT of questionable writing points like the escape tunnel of infinite passage in episode 2. (Seriously, 3 people enter, 2 people leave, one more enters, no one encounters each other, AND The Sister reaches the pilot first?? They only show one entrance, one exit, and no side passages. What the fuck.)
Lets not forget the multiple chase scenes after a 10 year old who runs like a lemming but no one can catch her.
Which is crazy, because for the longest time I've wanted to know just what Obi Wan was up to all those years between Episode 3 and 4. Someone should have been able to come up with a solid way to fill that gap. Again I haven't watched this yet, just going off of what I keep seeing people commenting.
Yeah, I've always loved the idea of Obi-Wan wandering the desert helping people with raiders or sitting in his cave unlocking the true power of the light side of the force.
Instead I got to watch Obi-Wan ride the bus home from his job at the meat packing plant.
I don't know if any of these stories contained enough material to draw people into ATLEAST 110 minutes of a movie. I feel like they would've hyped themselves into a good release weekend, but flopped as a whole.
The hard thing about telling the stories in the middle is that the outcome of all their struggle, also any sort of character development, is already known. It's one of the reasons I just want them to move on from the Skywalker Saga.We have heard about everyone, yes there are lots of cool characters that have years unexplored but sometimes those years are JUST LIVING IN QUIET HIDING CAUSE YOU'RE LIKE #1 FUCKING FUGITIVE IN THE GALAXY RUNNING FROM A SUPER SPACE WIZARD.
It's a decent Show.
Not particularly great but nowhere near as bad as some Subs would have you believe. For me it's a 6.5/10.
It has some ... weird moments and the editing is off at places, but overall it's still enjoyable. I think approaching it as a character study on Obi-Wan makes the experience overall better, and i think that's what was intended anyway.
Some people love it, so you might too. The production values are really high, I'm constantly getting excited over some new character / costume in the background. The effects have been really good as well. Imo the writing leaves a lot to be desired though. But it's making me remember that I'm pretty tired of everything Skywalker, so maybe I'm biased
Obi-Wan is great I honestly donāt understand where all these people are getting the idea that itās bad. I think people are just expecting way too much in terms of scale when all of the spin-off shows were always meant to be much smaller, more personal stories.
All things considered, the amount thatās happened in 4 episodes is a lot considering Obi-wan was meant to spend most of the 20 years after episode 3 as a hermit on Tatooine.
Don't listen to those entitled whiny bitch-ass "fans" with their miserable life. Obi-Wan is good. Not extremely great, but definitely good.
It does many things right and has a lot to offer. The things it does "wrong" are minor and only cosmetic. It's an enrichment for the franchise and the casting is nice, especially "the kid".
This is definitely an opinion and not fact.
I watched episodes 1, 2, and 3 and wish I could burn them out of my brain and will not be watching any more of it.
Just my opinion, though, others may enjoy it!
Absolutely! No one is allowed to say the show is boring, has some bizarre editing choices, kinda comical chase scenes with people bumping into clearly visible objects, the tunnel scene with three people running back and forth but never meeting each other...
I had huge hopes for the show, but I wanted much more than what they've given.
Prime example of a whiny bitch ass "fan". It's your own fault if you don't enjoy the show. The Book of Boba Fett was objectively awful from a writing, editing, pacing, action and especially from a plot standpoint. It felt extremely flat and like a bad stage play. It has no redeemable qualities.
Yes, Obi-Wan isn't perfect. Yes, the chasing scene felt weird and they should have shown how. If you are shallow and can't look beyond that you are the one who destroys your own experience, it's simply your own fault. Obi-Wan doesn't deserve to be thrown into the same pot as BoBF.
You are not in charge of what other people find interesting or acceptable.
It's not whiny to ask why it is, other than The Madalorian and Rogue One, virtually every live action Star Wars project has been lame.
I actually enjoy some of the DC films Reddit absolutely shits on, and it doesn't change my opinion of how I enjoyed it.
If you don't like people with opinions different than yours, stop going online.
I really think I need to just get off Reddit all together. So much negativity. Iām not directing this at you. Your comment did nothing wrong but by golly why do people have such hard ons to shit over content. I love the new Star Trek shows. I enjoy halo. Are they the greatest things ever? No! But they are enjoyable.
I feel like a kid again after phantom menace. Enjoyed it for what it was to only go on the internet and see how far removed I am from the hive mind.
And itās not just shows itās video games, people, movies l, books, everything is one big massive circlejerk of shitting on.
Reddit was the last holdout of social media for me but goodness is it wearing thin. I wish we could just have a good vibes only section.
Yeah sorry again it was nothing about you. It was just your comment was the cherry on top. Here we are talking about kenobi and hereās some paramount shit talking mixed in with the kenobi shit talking. Just tiring seeing shit talking in every single community on here now.
Sorry to vent in your comment chain. Yours was tame compared to others. Yours was just the first I saw. Just elicited a response from me.
Idk about worst one yet... but there was definitely another scene where I was like come on!
Happens at least once an episode, which is a way higher tolerance than I should have.
For anyone interested, the book/audiobook, *Kenobi*, written by John Jackson Miller, is far better.
I recommend the audiobook, as the narrator does a great job of imitating character voices.
It follows Obi-Wanās actions on Tatooine soon after arriving. Its what I wish Disney had done instead.
I don't think I've ever been as baffled by a show as BoBF though. That scooter chase literally made me pause the episode because I couldn't process what was happening.
The Mando-centric episodes became watchable, but then things went straight back to confusing schlock.
Cutting out the Mando only scenes, I'm not sure I actually enjoyed a single moment of BoBF. I don't watch a lot of shows, but it is the worst I've seen in memory. In my approximation a show literally couldn't be worse. It's not a high bar to clear.
I liked all of the sand people stuff, and the episode with the train was great. I hated the biker gang and that that the way he got the rancor was weird but I liked having the monster fight.
Idk I guess I didnāt mind the BoBF, I enjoyed it more than kenobi so far
You mean like he was in episode 6?
I was going to ask what Disney's obsession is with resuscitating old dead characters but then I remembered they're trying to use nostalgia to turn profits
Iām kinda disappointed with it. The writing is fine until you give any thought to context of the characters (the ones with previous history in the universe specifically) and the writing of the inquisitors went from well organized and brooding assassins to a bunch of overgrown children with anger issues.
Reva is just a terrible character, her motives and personality are inconsistentā¦ and as much as i hate blaming actorsā¦ her delivery is horrible, even the few good lines she has are executed terribly with zero continuity in her actions.
Every time she is onscreen it breaks my suspension of disbelief.
How are people enjoying this show it's so bad. They're giving Obi-wan the Luke treatment and they make him look like an idiot to elevate the female cast. They even made Darth Vader look stupid to make a female character look good. They can't keep getting away with it man.
Unfortunately there are very real acts of racism by some people. It's almost more unfortunate that it'll inevitably be used as a scapegoat (and already is)
It's not a matter of opinions. They are degrading our old heroes to promote "equality", which is truly disrespectful. I'm open to enjoyment, but this show is just so vile I can't even.
And this time, I loved the episode! No spoilers, don't worry, just saying I loved it. Not perfect, of course, but compared to the previous three, it was a huge improvement.
How DARE you enjoy something that others have not enjoyed!! Dont you realize your enjoyment of media is strictly forbidden unless some sweaty nerds approve of it first?
My most sincerest apologies sir, I will return home and rethink my views, making sure to talk absolute rubbish about the next episode to satisfy the opinions of others.
I never even noticed how much he waggles until this sped-up footage.

Disney content in general over the last few years have become half baked cash grabs.
Star Wars and Marvel seem to be fizzling out. Oversaturated with mediocre content. Also my own unpopular opinion, but Mando was just *fine*. Better production quality than Obi Wan but the script and pacing was just as awkward and slow
You gotta remember Mando was a sequel contemporary. It was nice just to have cohesive writing at the time.
And an original story that didnāt center around the fucking Skywalkers again.
Until, of course, they had to make them show up at some point. (Though I will admit, it was kinda hype.)
I'm fine with Luke popping in for a few scenes here and there as long as the focus stays on the original characters and story.
Like you popped your head in for a few scenes?
Exactly.
Yeah I think stretching IP to its limits and finding massive success was basically lightning in a bottle w/ MCU and it seems like it is going to take a bit longer for execs to realize that it won't be replicable

You mean like every marvel movie since ~2010 and every Star Wars property since disney acquired lucasfilm?
Hey S01 of Mando was good. But otherwise yes you're completely right
That's okay, I'm having fun watching it and that's all that matters :^ )
They already changed continuity enough to screw up iconic lines and meetings in the OT. It's unsalvagable for me.
Why is this downvoted. The kenobi show is utter rubbish.
Lots of apologists 'round these parts.
Kenobi series is fun, i like it.
Like you funned your way into a hole?
Hello, there!
Y'all can get mad if you want, but Kenobi should've witnessed Vader, not encountered him face to face, their conversation in the OT doesn't make sense now, Leia knew him because he served her father in the clone wars, not because he saved her from kidnappers as a child. you know who is over this obi wan series........ yup kathleen kennedy
Star Wars is getting the Paramount + treatment.
Obi-Wan is nowhere near as bad as Halo. Shoot even Boba Fett isn't on the level of Master Cheeks
Wow. I enjoyed BoBF well enough. Mando was quite a bit better, but that's a high bar. Obi is off to a...boring start. I had no idea these were poorly received. The trailer for Halo looked pretty good, I've not watched it though. That's too bad it didn't turn out well.
Itās just like Halo except replace Master Chief with horny AOTC Anakin.
Like you replaced your brain with a piece of shit?
Yoooo wtf man
I agree. Kenobi so far is just meh, not bad but okay. Maybe it's me and my own expectations (thanks to the trailer with it's prequel soundtrack) but it doesn't give me emotions (I guess I'm something of a Jedi myself) I expected to get
What's the Paramount+ treatment?
I assume they are referring to them ruining Picard and Halo. I haven't watched Obi Wan yet but I keep hearing not so great things.
Halo was so bad itās not even in the same realm as Obi-Wan. Itās not close to being that bad.
I stopped watching it pretty early on, but damn they massacred my boy Picard.
Wasn't season 1 really well received?
Fairly, but the season finale was the main issue. They really officially killed it in Season 2 though.
Much like Discovery, it split a lot of people. On its own as a sci fi show it's solid. Maybe a little generic but good for what it is. As a continuation of one of the most popular Star Trek shows, a lot of people hate it. I enjoyed it alright but I can totally see why some don't.
Mostly by people who weren't big fans of TNG I think, as the show demonstrates the writers knew very little about the original episodes in my mind.
Feels like something created because people wanted an Obi-Wan series, not because they had a story to tell about Obi-Wan.
This is exactly it. But actually they wanted to create a movie until Solo bombed and then this went into rewrite purgatory. Same with Boba Fett.
It's too bad. I think both BobF and Obi-Wan would have been much better as movies.
Which is crazy, because for the longest time I've wanted to know just what Obi Wan was up to all those years between Episode 3 and 4. Someone should have been able to come up with a solid way to fill that gap. Again I haven't watched this yet, just going off of what I keep seeing people commenting.

It's not a matter of opinions. They are degrading our old heroes to promote "equality", which is truly disrespectful. I'm open to enjoyment, but this show is just so vile I can't even.
Fuck off loser your worldview is fucking pathetic. Leave the fandom since you're pissing your pants and crying about it, you aren't wanted here.
OK, big man.
The series is only good when Darth Vader shows up, the series only thrives on Deus ex Machina moments.
Like how they completely butchered Vader's character in ep3?
Me powe is gone so no watching it for me for now
That is your silver lining.... you just don't know it yet
Hell nah, not wade
Not worth it
Where's the discussion thread for this episode BTW?
And this time, I loved the episode! No spoilers, don't worry, just saying I loved it. Not perfect, of course, but compared to the previous three, it was a huge improvement.
Loving the entire show so far
How DARE you enjoy something that others have not enjoyed!! Dont you realize your enjoyment of media is strictly forbidden unless some sweaty nerds approve of it first?
My most sincerest apologies sir, I will return home and rethink my views, making sure to talk absolute rubbish about the next episode to satisfy the opinions of others.
Screw you for having an opinion!!
Ope, itās terrible, comeback here
Just consume products and be excited for next product
episode 3 was a huge let down. hopefully 4 is a lot better
>hopefully 4 is a lot better I'm sorry...
Biggest letdown of the series so far

I can sympathize because I am currently taking an unauthorized extended lunch break because I can't wait until after work to view the new episode
