Haxminator

Excuse the indecency but, what kinda money do you have at 16? What the hell.

Acrobatic-Trade9488

Lmfao

ConsistentSite4422

Fair point. Still nice achievement at 16 while making a few bucks an hour

Haxminator

My brother, do you realize how much 8500 is by saving money from "few bucks an hour".

Philip-Ilford

my parents set me up “an investment account” for me in high school. We had a family friend who was a finantial advisor and my parents thought it would be insightful for me to track. It was about $10k. I preferred graffiti, skateboarding, cars and girls. Youtube is turning all these kids into grind set mindset wannabe fintech hustlers.

[deleted]

I saved 3-5k when I was 16 at $9 an hour in like 2014 most jobs pay $15+ an hour nowadays

Haxminator

America is crazy and weird and I'm shocked and confused

ConsistentSite4422

Yes i do! Certainly at his age. Maybe some watches are gift from a birthday or something

Haxminator

If gifts are the case, talk about being spoiled by your parents, damn.

Timcook2007

Every watch is a gift from me to myself

Haxminator

You're lucky to have parents who support you making money and spending it on your passion instead of asking for a part of it to help the family. Still 8500€ would take more than a year of saving every single coin over here.

Timcook2007

My parents don’t support me bro (I pay rent in my house)

Haxminator

Yeah ok. I also have a friend with well off parents who "works" two jobs at once for people his parents have connections with/are distant family. He lives in his own apartment, pays for it, pays for his gadgets (hes obsessed with phones, laptops, smartwatches, sound systems, tvs, etc.) and has enough money for expensive clothes and holidays. He claims he works two jobs and it's all money from his hard work. In reality, he gets paid a shit ton of money by his exployers because of nepotism and gets to sit around and do fuck all for hours every day. He seriously thinks he works hard for everything and is humble. He thinks life is fair.

Timcook2007

Again My parents are not rich We live in Greece and I don’t do expensive holidays, I don't have expensive clothes and if you don't work to make money, you have the problem

Timcook2007

It’s like 8.000 or 8.500€ (I am very proud for myself but I try to stay “humble”)

Haxminator

8.500€ euro is a lot LOT even for adults that work a full day of health-destroying work monday to friday.

Timcook2007

I know, I save every penny for a year. I resell watches and I don’t have problem to sell some timepieces from my collection (except my grandfather’s Orient) I also work to my father’s business every afternoon and in my grandmother's shop at weekends.

teckel

I would suggest putting that money toward an appreciating asset instead of depreciating assets like watches. The watches you have are fine, no reason to throw more good money away.

Timcook2007

ETF VUAA (I have some money there but I need to become 18 to put all my money on my own account)

teckel

If you're in the US, you could also buy government T-Bills to out some money away for proper big purchases you'll need, like car, home, etc. Now is not the time to be spending money on a watch collection. You'll regret it.

Cjng0

Agreed, the growth potential for every dollar invested at 16 years old is absolutely massive. Start collecting watches when you could burn the money you’re about to buy a watch with and it has zero effect on your current and future quality of life.

Timcook2007

I have a watch reselling business so I make money on my watches

teckel

🙄

Advanced-Reception34

Humble 🤣. Kid you live with your parents. There is no reason to be "humble". Your net worth is under 8k if you were to sell these watches. If you have to live on your own with a low paying job youd be poor. There will be a time to be "humble". And that wont be because you own a few low to mid-tier watches. Enjoy your hobby. I wish I wouldve bought more watches when I was your age. Once you reach financial stability on your own and your brain fully develops you wont be spending it all in watches, trust me. Youll be investing and covering living expenses.

TayyBoye

If you were genuinely humble, you wouldn't have made this post.

RndomUsername123

Looka like you have a preference for blue, clean watches. Since you are young, i would suggest to get a fun colourful watch. Something like a doxa, or casio. Not because it is simple or cheap, but to broaden the collection and explore. There is always time for a safe choices such as Rolex but that is way later...

TheUnusualSuspect82

Very true. Some color would add a nice touch to the collection. Some brands to consider: Any Studio Underd0g watch which I believe is from England and loved by micro brand collectors; Nomos Club Campus German brand highly appreciated by enthusiasts; Trafford Watches from Austin Texas with some Miyota movements which is about to sell out again; Swatch x Blancpain which you probably already know; Baltic which is another micro brand from France with some really nice classic watches with a bit of color. Good luck to you friend!

No_Cheetah6128

No his preference is attention, Even if it’s showing off a couple of fake watches that were given to him for no hard work, or any kind of achievement whatsoever, it’s just because someone died fuck outta here with that bullshit

RndomUsername123

Then ... a limited Casioak, or a gold G-shock? Bling, kinda expensive without the hate/price of Hublot...

Stump007

He should get on the role wait list now s so he might get a watch when he's 30

sosta_satyaneshi

When I was 16, I had a Timex with lume and thought that was pretty cool. Jokes aside, impressive collection mate.

Timcook2007

Timex Q Pepsi is on my list

itemluminouswadison

q gmt? got the gmt pepsi myself. great lil watch

cafeesparacerradores

That's the one that got me into the hobby

LeadershipGuilty9476

I had a Mickey mouse watch maybe at that age

Timcook2007

I want one!

Timcook2007

Or something like timex snoopy

WarmCat_UK

When I was 16 I was fingering girls behind the shops.

Ok-Syrup-3009

My man flexing mum and dads money

No_Cheetah6128

The death of. LAF to the max!😂 fucking douche bag. Do you even lift bro?

Timcook2007

Tells yours to work harder

scriabinoff

Spoken by someone working for their parents. Something tells me you might never really learn what hard work is; you are anything but humble.

HassanzadehInanloo

For real 💀

Timcook2007

Most of my money is from my business. 80-85%

scriabinoff

No one cares.

[deleted]

Doubt

TheWatchExchanger

These posters that feel the need to say their age are hilarious. It’s like a toddler running up to flex they can go to the toilet by themselves.

Philip-Ilford

gindest mindset brain rot. these kids watch grant cardone and haven’t yet realized how fake all that stuff is.

Timcook2007

3k in watches at 16 I will flex again and again

TheWatchExchanger

Staying humble I see.

3arry

10 years later you'll cringe at this post.

[deleted]

A job 🤣

Timcook2007

🤣🤣🤣🤣

scottpro88

Any first at 16 after working my shop job for 2 months was a G-shock 😂 what’s this unrealistic BS?

eugenioenrionee

lose the fake as moonswatch and your good

Timcook2007

Moonswatch is fake (the real moonswatch is trash)

FragileEagle

+1 on this. I have a fake and a real one. Both are trash quality and are exclusively worn in places idgaf if it gets stolen

Timcook2007

I had a real mission to Neptune And I had a lot of fake Moonswatches Moon Mercury Jupiter Pluto And mars (but I sold all of them with profit)

LimpFroyo

Good collection but it's hard to respect without your own money. I agree with other comments, saving 8.5k euros is not an easy amount and you should realise the actual wage rates in your area. You said you work in your father's / grandmother's - then it's pocket money or your parent's money. You don't understand the "actual" value of your work vs pocket money. If you buy something from your "own" money, then well & good - otherwise no one respects. Btw, I can buy 10's of rolex with my money - doesn't mean I will / should until I really value it.

Timcook2007

you are the most logical person in the comments whenever i answer. the work I do in my grandmother's shop is as expensive as other workers where they are paid the same. as for now for my father's work, I drive trucks like the other workers in the factory (and I get paid half of them)

Timcook2007

Also i have my own watch resell business (and I've made most of my money from there) also I haven't had any pocket money for years (since the moment I started working my father never gave me money again) my grandma gives me some pocket money sometimes but nothing major. But I understand that I am very lucky where I have the opportunity to work at my age without even finishing school yet.

RGBespresso

Unlike OP, these posts are getting old.

OoooohWeeeee

The swatch looks fake…

Timcook2007

It is fake (I had a real Neptune but it was a trash I sold it and I bought this)

FabulousMarch7464

Bro you’re way too young to be buying a Tudor for $4k when you are saying your savings goal is $10k. Don’t blow your savings on a watch that depreciates. Watch collecting is for adults that have lots of extra spending money (or for people without money wasting their only money they have on watches and racking up debt - don’t be one of these people)

Timcook2007

I will hit 10k goal and after this I will save from 0 to buy a Tudor or Rolex or something

No_Cheetah6128

Nobody cares about your freebees and NOBODY LIKES A SHOWOFF

Timcook2007

You hate me or love me you still watch me!

Charlottenburger

Good taste! Rolex watches are very popular. If you’re going that route make sure you get what you want, not some kind of lesser version just so you can say it’s a Rolex. If you have it in you stay away from overhyped brands and go your own route. Watch collecting is an extremely personal hobby. There’s not much to talk about, you’ll spend 99% of your time alone with the watch in the sense that most people won’t notice, and the few that do only want to talk about grail watches. Make sure you choose truly what you like.

Maleficent727

Save up for a real Omega, some vintage are hard to be for the value. Longines and Christopher Ward 12

Timcook2007

I had a vintage omega constellation from December(2023) to march 2024 Beautiful watch but had same problems

surfer451

Hone in on one grail, and work towards that. I can’t tell you how many random micros I bought when I got into the hobby that, cumulatively, at retail, would add up to my next grail. Resist the urge for instant gratification in favor of long term satisfaction.

Timcook2007

I watch to buy a Rolex (explorer 1 or 16610) Dream watch for the time is a 126610 But with that money I can buy an old Mercedes slk or a boxster in 1-2 years

Brilliant_Meaning151

This is an awesome collection😎!

Timcook2007

Thank you bro!

rivalbro

No Gshock? Kudos for having the same exact PRX powermatic as me though.

Timcook2007

Not yet

AdhesivenessLost5473

I would say try to buy pieces you like best and stay curious about different types of watches. As a kid, I used to imagine that I was being forced to pick the best watch of a particular type (say a chronograph, GMT, world timer or a minute repeater) as the last watch I would ever wear. It was fun for me at the time although looking back now it seems incredibly nerdy…. But I did learn all about watches and brands.

SpenyM

Cool collection especially at 16. That’s an amazing goal to get a Rolex before you’re 18

Stock_Sandwich_320

Next step should be graduation. Don't think too much about watches.

Timcook2007

I won't go to university.

MathematicianBig7282

I would suggest a g-shock to this beautiful collection.

Timcook2007

Thank you I will buy one soon

Academic_Extension59

Seiko

Silver_Context5561

lol this kid getting roasted in these comments

Swimming-Lynx7990

Damn....and i have some casios at 18 :-P

Timcook2007

God tier

suppletubs

What’s next…a drivers license

Vp3367

Wow.

66bronco28

G shock

Ratherbeeatingpizza

I like it.

Infinite_College_235

Better collection than me, and I'm 40.

earthianZero

Great choices. Something with a green dial next?

Timcook2007

I love green dial watches but I haven’t economic choices

Level_Daikon_8799

Snoopy Swatch

Timcook2007

Only rep moonswatches

dedmanparty

You’re sixteen 🙄

EthosMaster

Quality! not quantity.

Ok_Series_4830

as a 16 year old, man i wish i have more watches bro.

Timcook2007

Buy something wear it and resell it (I started like that)

Sweaty_Kid

OP seems chill and has two of the same tissot. if you ask he will send one to you to build your budding collection.

Timcook2007

I bought my first quartz prx for 250€ 3 months later one of my friends was at very bad financially saturation and he sold me his powermatic prx for 280€

Sweaty_Kid

on second thought you deserve those. I'm sure U/ok_series_4830 will be ok

Ok_Series_4830

i mean... im down for any watches just to build my watch collection but im so damn poor i can even afford a cheap Seiko tbh

Sweaty_Kid

you will be ok. i promise you will have a gold Rolex day-date by the time you are 25. you will work hard and be a successful person

Ok_Series_4830

hey, how'd you find out that i like Day-dates? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sweaty_Kid

sir when you get your day date, which will happen in the year 2031, please post a picture of it on here.

Ok_Series_4830

i will, i will hehe

Shig2k1

Patek Philippe Nautilus 😉

Timcook2007

5711r dream watch! One day……

Complex_Material_702

You need some color

Timcook2007

Now I have only blue watches 😅😅 I bought a CWC T20 and I sold my tag Heuer and the quartz prx

Complex_Material_702

You should try building a watch. It’s a rewarding experience. I bought around 15 before I decided I wanted to build one. I’ve since built 6 and it’s a very fun hobby.

Timcook2007

I want to build one “who cares I am already late” watch

ElGuandolo

Cool!

okorec

I would go for something rectangular and more colourful like Tag Heuer Monaco.

okorec

And yeah, I like your collection :)

Timcook2007

I will buy Tag Monaco one day but I want the gulf edition

jrenner340

What’s next? Bro save for a car or something

Timcook2007

I want to buy a car in 2 years (today I drive my father’s Audi q7 or my mother’s A160) I want to buy a Porsche one day but for the first car I try to find something cheaper.

jrenner340

That’s a solid goal

gorlax52

Rainbow daytona

Timcook2007

Out of budget

Sam_Nova_45

Wow have an omega watch, nice collection. Someday wish to get a Grand Seiko for my collection. Enjoy!

Timcook2007

Actually is a swatch

Sam_Nova_45

Ah I see.

jackhammer233

You gotta do better than a swatch band on the omega bro ! Cmon

deepdish18

Omega Seamaster

Timcook2007

James Bond watch. But I want something more classic

bigspikeyballs

Speedmaster. It’s only 7K or 8K USD (Hesalite vs Sapphire), nothing crazy, and you could negotiate a discount if lucky enough. It’s an entry level luxury watch that many collectors start off with. Pretty awesome history too - from first watch on the moon to saving Apollo 13 mission.

Timcook2007

if i spend this money i will definitely get a rolex. Maybe buy a used Speedmaster for 3-4k though.

bigspikeyballs

Very difficult to get a good Rolex from an AD for 7K to 8K. Submariner is going for around 13K rn. If you’re talking about used Rolex then maybe. Check out Chrono24 (website) for used watches

Timcook2007

Rolex submariner 14060 used

NaughtyTigerIX

Liking that omega on the right

Timcook2007

Omega x Swatch

Timcook2007

One day 😂😂😂

No-Box7107

Very nice, but how have you found the Moonswatch? I am considering getting it but I've heard terrible things about it, so what has your experience been?

Timcook2007

I had original moonswatch mission to Neptune but I sold it because it was trash This is replica

neonomen

Investment accounts appreciate. Watches depreciate. Keep investing. Maybe LVMUY

Timcook2007

VUAA and watch reselling

Appropriate_Ninja282

Throw away the swatch

Timcook2007

This swatch is fake and I sold it

killerkeano

Lose the plastic toy swatch.

Timcook2007

Fake swatch

zinski1990KB1

Fake or your parents/family is loaded.

Timcook2007

Sure my friend Maybe and fake and loaded money 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Philip-Ilford

I’m 40y old and Im thrilled not to have spent a day of my teens thinking about watches.

CuriousAd5883

I’m 19 myself and you’re doing great! I wanted to buy myself a nice Datejust for when I turn 20, but tbh it makes no sense if all I do is go to uni and do my couple business thingies, I even use PT because it’s great in my country so not worth it at all 😭😭. But if I was you, I’d buy myself an actual Moonwatch and in the future a nice Rolex.

Timcook2007

Buy something good like a tissot prx or a Seiko for now and invest your money for now You buy a datejust later

WalkOk7986

impressive collection a lot better than mine and im 17. personally im going to gift myself a luxury watch (omega or Rolex) when I finish uni and who knows hopefully a tag by the end of this year. its actually quite refreshing to see another young watch enthusiast with similar taste. I wish you all the best in your journey.

Timcook2007

Where are you from?

WalkOk7986

Australia mate

Timcook2007

I am from Greece

Other-Mycologist8567

I'd say rich parents more like

Timcook2007

I resell watches (this is my personal collection) I work at my fathers work And at the weekends at my grandparents shop. My parents are ok financially but not rich. I will become rich one day.

Kindly_Pass_586

Well done bro. Lots of jealous people here. Keep up the work.
