He absolutely did, he took those last two shot directly. I don’t know that that guy survived? It has to be bird shot since he didn’t instantly go down. I have a shotgun I hunt with using slugs and I’ve blown a hole through Kevlar with it from around that distance after 3-4 shots.
Depending on the choke and how practiced the shooter was, he may not have been hit with the full spread. Inexperienced shooters tend to think that with a shotgun you just kinda point the muzzle in the general direction and fire. But even with a cylinder choke at about 20ft. you're still only going to get 10-12" of spread. I would not be surprised at all if an inexperienced shooter missed most of the group firing from the hip at a charging person. Sure does look like he should be full of holes though.
Pretty sure he did considering his stumble after the third shot. I hope he survived it and gets to tell his story because holy shit what a legend if he still managed to stop it despite being shot with a shotgun.

It depends. “Point blank” means any range at which the ballistic arc of a projectile from a firearm is small enough to be insignificant. In other words, the range at which a firearm need not be aimed above the target to hit it.
This isn’t as close as you can get, of course — that would be a “contact shot” in which the muzzle is literally touching the target.
Technically any shot that does not require adjustments to your sights for elevation to offset the force of gravity is "point blank," i.e. your sights are dialed in for ~0 feet/yards/meters.
Several hundred yards is when you have to start considering that kind of adjustment.
Point blank is a real marksmanship term that has been misused so long by journalists that it now has two definitions.
Official definition: Likely about 100m
Journo definition: 10 feet or less

Remember, if you ever **have** to fight, you have no choice to run or hide, whoever has control of the muzzle has control of the gun. Even if you can't immediately get the gun out of the person's hands, having control over the direction of the barrel is the very first step.
There was a shooting at a local waffle house in my area a few years ago. Dude walked in with an AR and killed 4 people at like 2am. He was stopped by a patron who grabbed the barrel while the shooter was clearing a jam, and he thrusted the butt of the gun into the shooters face a few times causing him to drop it and run off. Guy got 3rd degree burns on his hands, but saved who knows how many more lives.
