BBQ is also a style of cooking, often with a smoker, and usually involves things like ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage and chicken. There's also a few different styles of BBQ that are somewhat regional, like Texas, Memphis and Carolina, each having their own flavor profile from the ingredients used in the spice rub and the sauces.

My friend from the Philippines laughs when she hears Americans say they are going to bbq and only do hot dogs and burgers. I went to a bbq at her house and it was all steaks and a whole pig lol
