Both are great options. If you don’t like mucus than don’t go respiratory. Rad techs still have some poop and blood though. Rad tech has been great to me over the years moneywise. Respiratory is also great for money these days.
Rad tech here. Take an intro course to both if your school offers it. I did and immediately knew resp wasn’t for me. Also rad has lots of areas to be cross trained into. MRI, CT, Cath, IR, etc.
Call your local hospitals and ask if you can shadow in these departments. Especially if it is a teaching hospital. Many facilities are happy to let students get a day pass to observe. We can give you all the advice in the world, but nothing is as good as simply experiencing the job for yourself!

The only good thing about respiratory is abg’s and therapies can be done within the patient’s room.
