Not exactly the same, I had a problem where the battles would fully load, then I'd get an error message, and the game would drop to Bastion and I'd lose the battle resource (boss key, energy, arena token, etc.).
I discovered my issue on my own, it was with having Trunda Giltmallet equipped to the team. I sent in a support ticket, but I still haven't heard back, nor seen any update notes to say it's been fixed.
Now, you may not have Trunda, or have her equipped to your team, but you may still be having a similar issue with another champ, so I suggest putting in a whole new team and see if it still happens. If it doesn't, add them back one at a time until it does happen.
They should switch all systems to be like faction wars where the resource isnt consumed until the stage is completed successfully. Then it wouldn't matter. Yeah you'd keep it if you lost also, but that's hardly going to hurt the energy sales since more tries equalz longer playing time means more potential for someone to want to spend. Throw your players a bone and we may throw money back.
Now I can’t even load into a battle and it takes my energy. Now I get a full purple/pink screen as the game crashes
I had the same happened to me as well. With the blink you described. Restarting my device helped.

I lost one cb key too. Twas disappointing. The game keeps crashing for a few times this week.

They need to implement a fail-safe to prevent this from happening.. many games refund spent resource if the stage was erroneously terminated.
