When you try to have a argument but all they do is telling their opinion as a fact and interrupt you all the time saying you are wrong and start blasting again with their bullsh1t.
There is no point arguing a idiot.
I had a guy a few days ago try to tell me, "Bears ARE animals but NOT mammals." Then he doubled down by getting on google to try to prove he was right.
when someone you barely know talks about how great they are
unsolicited biography
work car money etc...
***most*** people like this will either-
not ask about your life
or
will ask...and will totally UN-hear you because they are just waiting to TALK again
This is exactly what I was going to say. Like the lack of self awareness makes me cringe. For example my neighbor is always lowkey bragging about being a construction worker. The other day he said āI used to suck at school and now I build cool shit someone should write a book about meā and I was just cringing. Maybe itās different for me cuz my family owns a construction company and everyone works in it lol. He also lives with his parents and works for his parents.
I caught up with an old friend from university I hadnāt seen in 10 years. As we sat down for coffee he says tell me whatās been going on and then proceeds to talk for 2 hours uninterrupted.
Just put this actually. I was born early 90s in one of Houstons most dangerous wards until I was 16 and I was a minority there. It's spoken but not as often as people think. Whenever I hear it,it triggers me. I'm mixed but not black and I would hear the n word and even said it but never got shit for it as I grew up there. When I moved up to the pacific northwest, didn't see a black person minus maybe 4. All the white kids would say the n word and I'd get uncomfortable. It was weird and surreal. They'd be living in the cookie cutter suburbs yet acting gangster.
Bonus for a person of color in a predominantly white environment thinking they are fooling everyone with their gansta/choloness as adults.
Mother fucker you grew up in a good home in Scottsdale and was given every opportunity in the world.
But you are making laugh with your socks pulled up higher than your shorts hang down and the Nike Cortez and the shaved head and the goatee, with some Mama's boy tattoos.
Eh, idk if it's that clear cut. I'm a 'suburban' black guy, as in my parents were well off, lived in a predominanlty white area (but in the city). I had relatives who lived in social housing and had legal issues. I also fell in with the other black kids during teenage years (to the dismay of my parents). Became a fake gangsta for a while, but then figured my own emotions out. Not saying it's not cringe, just saying 9/10 times there's a lot of nuance to this stuff.
Any time someone says *I would be good at X*. I have an aunt who likes to proclaim that she *could* write a decent novel if she wanted to. Letās see some fucking results here, Carol.
THIS THIS THIS. This was such a norm w white lacrosse kids, and poc from the suburbiest of suburbs. It always just low key feels racist and immediately makes me not want to be friends
That irritates the hell out of me. āResearchā now means āgoogle itā to the population. Or when Iām told to ādo the mathā from
People who have not actually ādone the mathā in any mathematics applied or theoretical.
Researching is just Googling until you find an unverified source that anecdotally satisfies said nitwit's voracious Confirmation Bias.
You Google any one topic hard enough, and you'll find supporting "evidence" for either side of any argument surrounding one topic.
Coffee consumption will make you go blind, and enhance your vision at the same time. Remarkable.
Especially if you use biased search terms, like asking defendants in court leading questions
E.g. something like how many deaths have been caused by COVID vaccines, rather than is there any evidence of COVID vaccines killing people
I tried to have a reasonable conversation with some individuals recently on the topic of illegal immigration. I stuck with peer-reviewed references and cited my sources. Amongst the recurring jabs about socialism, one person could actually carry a conversation and got better as it went on, with their references becoming less biased and more data-driven. In the end, though, itās hard to take someone seriously when their username is an intentional derogatory term.
Yeah. As if these dimwits knew what "research" or a scientifically sound "source" are (no, it's not youtube). Those are reliably the only ones whose IQ is sub-zero.
There is a flat Earth guy on another social media site. He has all this "proof" that the Earth is flat. It is hilarious. His IQ can't be north of zero.
I recently got permanently banned from a flat earth sub for saying "š this can't be serious" under one of their videos my 5 year old son could disprove.
I'm still waiting to find out what their goal is? If we all stand up and say "yeah You're right, the earth is flat" then what do we do with this information, what changes?
It's not mutually exclusive to have a reasonably high IQ and also be totally delusional.
Most of those "concepts" he touts about flat earth theory do require a somewhat reasonable IQ to grasp.
The fact that they're totally fictional is besides the point.
...
You need a substantial IQ to fully immerse yourself into the Warhammer 40K universe....
even though it's all nonsense fiction in the end?
I disagree. They get the concepts wrong because of their low IQ. They read the stuff but arenāt smart enough to understand what it means. Iāve been around some low IQ people and flat earthers have the same logic and reasoning abilities of the people Iāve known.
There's a difference between someone who's dull-witted and someone who's ignorant. Flat Earth people are generally the latter. Given the state of American public education, I can't say I blame them for that.
More importantly, conspiracy theories like Flat Earth happen when people lose their trust in authoritative institutions. Frankly, I can't say I blame them for that either.
I'm majoring in environmental science and geology. I'm dedicating my whole life to study our planet, its climates and biomes and all that stuff.
My "critical thinking" father watched a sketchy ""documentary"" on facebook once and he hasn't stopped trying to convince me that "climate change isn't real and it's a lie the government makes us believe to control us" despite all the evidence, research and data I've shown him. So yeah
I got a degree in Geography specialising in climate science and my aunt still tries to convince me it's a hoax too!
I think they feel that having a "scientist" on their side will add legitimacy to their claims, or they might just be dumb. Good luck!!
People who want to argue with me about any topic (especially climate change) will inevitably try to steer me to some podcast by a āsmart personā. Yeah, not my preferred media, since itās rife with opinions and a pain to fact check. My response is usually something like, āHereās a link to the most recent IPCC report spanning hundreds of pages. Do a little light reading and then come back to me about how scientists donāt know or are wrong.ā
Same here fam, they love their podcasts, Facebook groups and webinars, though no matter how much real evidence I give them their backup argument is "that's all faked by the government and scientists are being paid to lie to you"
There's just no winning
Itās like people who claim to be nice or generous or smart. If you have to tell people that you are itās because you arenāt.
With a few exceptions of course. Itās mostly when the claims are totally unsolicited. If there is a conversation about how being too nice can be an issue, fair game, but someone that just brings it up unprompted when itās completely irrelevant to the conversation at hand: Most likely an asshole.
In my experience, most people who claim to have critical thinking skills actually do, but the ones who bemoan the lack of "common sense" are the ones who don't seem to have any.
you dropped an 'h' there my dear
it was like an avalanche of fecal matter; they had to call mountain rescue service to get you all out. that's why it's your first memory!
You had classes in nursery? Nursery! I was bumped out of nursery and into the first grade. I asked too many questions. I couldnāt even read. Suddenly I had a uniform and all my friends were playing with balloons. Iāve been bitter ever since.
First memory was someone trying to kill me. I was about 18 months. The balloon deficit gets me more.
Iām a 42 year old woman who started saying bruh to agitate my son, and now itās spiraled out of control and I canāt stop saying it.
Bruh, please send help, lol.
A while ago a group of friends were gathered and a newly wed couple told us the honeymoon stories in Paris.
"It's fascinating going to these places and seeing all those old buildings from hundreds of years ago".
(Our country is pretty you so we don't have old stuff around".
One dude replied:
"I don't believe that"
Don't believe what?
I don't believe the buildings are old.
What do you mean?
I think they made all that stuff like 20-30 years ago and tell everybody they're old to get tourists.
After some moments of silence and staring in which the guys gf clearly wanted to be swallowed by the earth, someone says ...
Well, it's a theory
And no the dude wasn't kidding.
In addition to this when someone doesn't know something and they get defensive saying "well, I wasn't taught that in school!" as if the info force fed to you as a kid is the only info you'll ever need to know, and you can just stop learning the second you leave.
Speaks to high level of laziness, ignorance and no curiosity about the world
I'm neurodivergent and only now halfway through diagnosis at 30 years old. I hated school, struggled badly with focus and handing anything in but tested well.
I dedicate a large portion of my free time to learning about things that interest me, and I learn so much better this way. I'm definitely more intelligent than a lot of university educated people I've met in my life, even if I don't have their education. Just never ending curiosity.
Education is important for the vast majority of people, provided they have the brains to actually apply it in the first place.
Some folks are smart enough/capable enough or experienced enough that getting a degree is a really expensive block to check and not much else.
On the *other* end of the spectrum, you get people with degrees who couldn't find their ass with both hands and an approach radar.
No amount of education is going to help a stupid person.
thats my dad!
will argue til hes blue in the face that college isnt worth it and there's plenty of people I KNOW that are successful without college so its a waste of time
You canāt get hired for a career job without a bachelorās degree. That happened to me. I was interviewing at HP with various employees. After the round robin they wanted to take me to lunch. Good sign. HR person came in before lunch to talk to me. She thought I graduated from college. She didnāt read my education section. She flat out said they donāt hire people without a degree and that I needed to leave. I was shocked. Good thing is I was able to work in IT just from experience.
Iām sorry to hear that. Iāve had excellent employees that didnāt have a degree. My boss was a degree snob. Whenever they asked about someone I wanted to hire I would tell them that the candidate was working on it. It wasnāt a major company like that, though. I imagine they have education flagged in their employee HR system somewhere.
When someone says "the market will self regulate".
Yes, yes it will, it will self regulate into monopolies. We NEED anti monopoly laws, else the market self regulates the same way ticketmaster self regulates the prices of concert tickets.
People who genuinely think that the market self regulates because "competition will arise" seriously need to do a history check of what happens when there are no regulations in the market.
Agree. Same concept as laws for our citizens. Sometimes you have to force people to behave a certain way so that itās ultimately better for the many.
Well hold on there are two types. Idiots parroting psychopaths, and the psychopaths themselves who know they are lying but gain the most benefit from unregulated markets. They're not stupid, just awful.Ā
I dunno my dude. We have a nationalized private power conpany with a monopoly on energy but beholden to the Province. They have to petition the government to raise prices (which they do) and we have some of the cheapest and most reliable power on the continent. I see what free market competition for power in the US without regulation and was shocked at the price spikes in Texas a few years back.
Generally competition is good but for things like power and healthcare its less clear imo.
>They have to petition the government to raise prices
Then the market is not self regulating, its regulated by the goverment. Which is exactly the point im trying to make lol. Monopolies shouldnt be given free reign. There needs to be goverment regulations.
As a health professional, I can confirm the existence of people that believe in that. Many times, people with very good overall health BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS VACCINATED THEM refuses to get their kids the same right because it "causes autism". Oh boy, sometimes I just wish I could say "Dude, you're being a fucking idiot". We live in very strange times.
well i have bad news for you, when the iq was invented 100iq was defined as the avg.
in the following years humanity got more clever, so they upped the score so that 100 still means the avg.
what does that mean: if you had 10 iq in 1981 the same score would be -1 in 1992.
oh and another thing: in the year (iirc) 2005 this trend stopped and since then they have to down the score, because for the last 20 years humanity is getting stupider.
e: (or more stupid? its showing)
The implication of their comment is that an IQ recorded in the 20s long enough ago would be negative on a modern scale. Iām not sure whether thatās true. And even if it is I think thereās a reason IQ is normalized to the population and swapping scales is misleading. But thatās their point. If you swap scales around you never need to actually measure below zero.
Once someone starts advocating for harsh, strict, & "biblical" treatment for children and/or queer people. Anyone who thinks revenge-based punishment is better than rehabilitation, too.
I had a guy tell me front wheel drive cars are worse for winter, and further tried to explain it by saying ābecause all the power is in the front, makes it harderā needless to say I walked back to my car scratching my head for awhile. He also said rear wheel is better because all the power is in the back. I wanted to give myself a lobotomy after that.
When they believe in conspiracy theories or think they know more about something (e.g., science) than actual experts (e.g., scientists) from having watched TikTok, YouTube, or joined a facebook group.
I have a very oddly shaped body. My gut is egg shaped and pushes my pants downward. My ass is nonexistent so nothing holds them up.
Without suspenders, it is nearly impossible to keep them up. Trust me. I donāt like it either.
Bigotry, especially the blantant kind. If you start talking about immigrants stealing your jobs, black people being savages, jews trying to control the world, women being emotional and manipulative, gay people being unnatural, trans people being pedophiles, or anything in that vein I have to assume you've got nothing but shit for brains. There was some studies saying bigots are generally less intelligent so it may even just be the truth.
When someone actively supports/trusts organized government or any large corporation. If you trust your local, state/provincial, federal or any body of government that has any form of power you've never read a history book. If you trust any large corporations, you just haven't paid attention for the last 30 years.
generally whenever I can see someone isn't thinking for themselves I immediately file everything they have to say on most things as irrelevant.
When they believe they could fight \[insert animal here\] when their muscles are as strong as the water in a cup (not the cup itself, because that would be too strong, lol).
I've heard that some people think they could fight a grizzly bear or some other bear. Bears can take bullets and still kill you. Those people that think they can fight a bear would be killed even if they got the chance to bring a 12 gauge with then to the fight, lol.
I probably could fight a grizzly to be fair! I mean you didnāt say I have to win or even survive. I will probably very much die, quite quickly but fight I could! For a very short time.
I have two uncles in Alaska that are pretty big guys. Wrestled in high school, live off the land type of men. And they will admit that theyāre scared of the bears. We have moved so far away from real danger that they canāt even perceive how dangerous they really are lmao.
Comments online of people claiming flat Earth is real and the firmament from the bible is stopping humanity from ever reaching space. This might seem specific, because it's exactly what I saw on tiktok last week.
When they deny science in favour of beliefs/superstitions/politics...
When they are in favour of censorship of any kind.
When they pick a culprit for a sistematic injustice.
When people assume you are talking about something without aknowledging it can apply to multiple topics and call you names.
Etc...
He (or she) starts a sentence with "I seen you..."
Never in school did an English teacher put the word seen after the word I .
Totally hillbilly zero iq stuff there
Majority of my closest friends are platonic females. I've always hated that sentiment as well. Just because someone can't help but think solely with their genitals for every opposite sex bond they find... Doesn't mean we're all like that

When you try to have a argument but all they do is telling their opinion as a fact and interrupt you all the time saying you are wrong and start blasting again with their bullsh1t. There is no point arguing a idiot.
Entering a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent isn't very sporting, either. Take the high road. Don't feed the trolls, etc.
One of my fav quotes by Mark Twain: Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Low EQ is also a thing.
It should be "an idiot" and sorry for being a lil bit asshole
I had a guy a few days ago try to tell me, "Bears ARE animals but NOT mammals." Then he doubled down by getting on google to try to prove he was right.
Bears are fruits
Bearries

Bears, beets, Battlestar galactica
Black bears are best.
well thatās debatable
There are 2 schools of thoughts
Bears are fish. Not food
Awwwww that is fuckin cute im gona freak out
Bears are beats?
Did he think they were amphibians or something?
Maybe he only knows of koala bears, which as their name doesn't suggest, are indeed not bears.
And yet still mammalsā¦
Wow. One time I saw a Reddit post where op implied people could have a negative IQ because he thought he was smart.
No one else seems to have clocked this one. Guess Iām in the +1%

What did he say after looking on google?
Bears lay eggs

No, they are MAMMALS but not ANIMALS /s

This "Et Al" person must have an IQ of 1000!

Sitting in class in nursery in reading time

Interesting! and how does that make you feel?
When they say they have an IQ of 400+. True words spoken by my uncle to my dad (weāve had some crazy moments basically orchestrated solely by him)

And the person's intelligence. It's not a problem to educate yourself if you are curious enough or it's a necessity.
Dumb person detected
Education is important for the vast majority of people, provided they have the brains to actually apply it in the first place. Some folks are smart enough/capable enough or experienced enough that getting a degree is a really expensive block to check and not much else. On the *other* end of the spectrum, you get people with degrees who couldn't find their ass with both hands and an approach radar. No amount of education is going to help a stupid person.
Probably your question. You understand what IQ is, right?
thats my dad! will argue til hes blue in the face that college isnt worth it and there's plenty of people I KNOW that are successful without college so its a waste of time
You canāt get hired for a career job without a bachelorās degree.
Which pays nicely
Iām sorry to hear that. Iāve had excellent employees that didnāt have a degree. My boss was a degree snob. Whenever they asked about someone I wanted to hire I would tell them that the candidate was working on it. It wasnāt a major company like that, though. I imagine they have education flagged in their employee HR system somewhere.
People who drive past you in traffic just to exit the freeway for no apparent reason except for anger or something.
Or pass you only to have to stop at a red light š
Yeah, these guys are always in a hurry to the red light for some reason
"I have a very high IQ" "I am very smart" Basically anything with smart, intelligent or IQ
Itās not always a matter of IQ. A lot of is the type of education or lack thereof or what they were taught growing up.
Capitalism: ideas so good, all the ways of winning at them have to be illegal.
Well hold on there are two types. Idiots parroting psychopaths, and the psychopaths themselves who know they are lying but gain the most benefit from unregulated markets. They're not stupid, just awful.Ā
But the stupid fall for the psychopathās bullshit and are therefore more dangerous.
>They have to petition the government to raise prices Then the market is not self regulating, its regulated by the goverment. Which is exactly the point im trying to make lol. Monopolies shouldnt be given free reign. There needs to be goverment regulations.
Antivax...
better yet, it apparently gives babies autism! (someone i heard once say this to me as an argument)
Someone saying humans are not animals... Yes yes we fucking are we are fucking mammals
Someone who thinks an IQ below 0 exists.
well i have bad news for you, when the iq was invented 100iq was defined as the avg. in the following years humanity got more clever, so they upped the score so that 100 still means the avg. what does that mean: if you had 10 iq in 1981 the same score would be -1 in 1992. oh and another thing: in the year (iirc) 2005 this trend stopped and since then they have to down the score, because for the last 20 years humanity is getting stupider. e: (or more stupid? its showing)
Wasn't aware of that small change, however wasn't the lowest IQ ever recorded in the 20s? Ergo, below 0 still has never occurred?
So far as I can find, it doesnāt go that low. 20-25 is considered profound mental retardation. 0 could only mean the person is dead.
I remember a friend was really excited, he posted on Facebook about his online IQ test score, it was 100
Bless his heart!
"All women must weigh 45 kilos, no matter the height" or something similar...
I'd be in the hospital.
You have depression? Just try [ jogging / looking how the world is beautiful/ etc]
When they believe in conspiracy theories or think they know more about something (e.g., science) than actual experts (e.g., scientists) from having watched TikTok, YouTube, or joined a facebook group.
And mouthing off about them to whoever will listen! If you're going to have such a stupid opinion, be careful who you tell it to.
Pants hanging below their ass.
I have a very oddly shaped body. My gut is egg shaped and pushes my pants downward. My ass is nonexistent so nothing holds them up. Without suspenders, it is nearly impossible to keep them up. Trust me. I donāt like it either.
All good and all, but according to this person you are just dumb. Nothing to do with your body you know.
If you paid attention you'd have caught that this guy wears suspenders to address the issue. Sounds pretty smart to me.
People who substitute web links for critical thinking.
Anyone who answers a question with ābecause I said soā, or with ābecause I canā.
Don't call your mom stupid like that, man.
The casket
When people further conspiracy bs like the "Trans people are grooming children" shit from the new right. I despise that
MAGA hat or Gadsen flag.
If they mention Andrew Tate, Ben Shapiro or Joe Rogan
A MAGA hat.
Honestly, any object that turns you into a political billboard.
The blank and confused look I get when I casually talk about psychological or philosophical ideas.
That or even trying to ridicule the topic with a pointless joke.
āItās (the) immigrants, innit?ā
The election was stolen
When they deny science in favour of beliefs/superstitions/politics... When they are in favour of censorship of any kind. When they pick a culprit for a sistematic injustice. When people assume you are talking about something without aknowledging it can apply to multiple topics and call you names. Etc...
He (or she) starts a sentence with "I seen you..." Never in school did an English teacher put the word seen after the word I . Totally hillbilly zero iq stuff there
I've seen you
I actually forgot about this one for a while. I feel like some pretty unconventional shit want down in English class in Newfoundland Canada.
I seen.... Not the inside of a book.
I'd say people who think that men and women can't be friends.
Majority of my closest friends are platonic females. I've always hated that sentiment as well. Just because someone can't help but think solely with their genitals for every opposite sex bond they find... Doesn't mean we're all like that
When they make an incoherent title to their post about how to spot low IQ.
