To add to the surrealism, there is a theory that the cul-de-sac was a purgatory, with the cast being kids who have died during different time periods. Would explain the weird colored tongues, lack of parents and Rolf...
btw, there is a channel on youtube called MEAT CANYON or PAPA MEAT, the dude did a couple of episodes on them....they are really disturbing, hope u saw them, if not, then check them out.
I AM BUTTER TOAST
* howling coyote sound
YOU DARE MOCK THE SON OF A SHEPARD..ED BOY?!
Great part of my childhood and I have clear memories of certain parts, episodes even 20 years later
Samurai Jack was such a weird show wasn’t it? Or is it just me? It was like getting lost in the sauce watching it.
I never intentionally watched it and I watched it a lot more than I probably realize and I have no idea what the actual premise was of the show. What was the story? Now I really wanna actually watch through it to figure it out thanks a lot
Evil wizard Aku awakens and attacks Japan. Enslaves the country. Emperor's son escapes and travels the world training with different cultures. Grows up to return to Japan to defeat Aku. Aku tricks him and sends him to the future where he's taken over the world. Upon arrival, some locals name him Samurai Jack, and subsequent episodes are him looking for a time portal to go back and defeat Aku and prevent the future he's trying to survive in.
I did rewatch it from start to finish because I remember I never saw the finale of this show. Turns out it got cancelled by CN. Years later, adult swim gave them another chance and they released their final season to make a finale. But now that it isn’t on a kids channel, they can handle mature content.
The show is very interesting. It starts off with a samurai that demolishes everything easily, then moves on to more strategy based fight. Eventually ends up to a point where Jack feels completely powerless. And a lot in between as well. Basically, they switch up a lot and it’s not always the same repetitive storyline.
The show can be on the quiet side. Jack barely speaks in some episodes. But I found the show very ‘artsy’ in a way. It would portray a message or convey emotions without the need of a dialogue.
Watching this made me feel so calm inside. The friends he makes along the way is so wholesome. The not forced jokes makes it feel so naturally enjoyable. I look up to this fictional character. This is one of my favourite shows and can recommend it.
Btw, Aku’s not an evil wizard, he’s a devil!! Pure evil 🤣
My favorite of his friends.....the crazy kilt wearing guy & his "bonnie petite wife".
Turn her loose in Target on "Black Friday"....& watch from a safe place lol.
>Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape shifting master of darkness unleashed an unspeakable evil, but a foolish Samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me! [Battle Sequence] Before the final blow was struck, I throw open a portal in time and flung him into the future where my evil is strong! Now the fool seeks to return to the past and undo the future that is AKU!!!

They don't make'em like the OG Teen Titans anymore. Heck the creators of the newer Teen Titans know this fact and they won't do anything about it. IDK why
TT was for Teens and there were young adults that enjoyed TT as well. TTG, on the other hand, was geared towards younger kids. And they might’ve known they were gonna fail at trying to replicate the OG TT and prolly just didn’t wanna try and fix what wasn’t broken, so to speak
It's cringe, that's what it is. (Except Garfield Logan, he's always been silly). They reduced Richard John Grayson to a bumbling simp for Koriand'r from the more mentally sane version of Bruce Wayne that he was
I actually bought an 8-disc DVD set with all the original 159 cartoons.
And since I'm already bragging: I also own the 1992, 81-minute movie on DVD.
🥳🥳Ahh, the joy of physical media. I can watch these classics at any time and as often as I want. 😋😋
oh thank u, i forgot the name, FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMMAGINARY FRIENDS, man, the web went nuts back then with the origin of it, telling us that the girl in it was troubled and imagined the whole thing in her mind....was pretty dark.
I have been an adventure time fan since it originally came out as a pilot episode on YouTube !!!! I was immediately obsessed and it turned out to be SUCH a great show. Love the lore/history of the adventure time universe SO MUCH!!
Makin Bacon Pancackes is always on my lips when cooking pancakes. It's mandatory.
As is singing, "I'm on a boat with a couple of whack-o's....." whenever you set foot on any boat regardless of circumstances.
Remembered this one episode I watched when I can't sleep...they have this teacher that gives them sweets and the teacher turned out to be a monster/kraken or something?
I stayed awake until morning. 🤣 love this show still it's amazing!
Two Stupid Dogs was so good. It's often overlooked when people talk about the golden age of Cartoon Network, but man did I love that show when it aired.

Cow n chicken, power puff girls, wacky races, amazing world of gumball, regular show, courage the cowardly dog, Dick dastardly & muttley, We bare bears n Johnny Bravo!
Deleted the first comment when I should've edited it but I loved Chowder as a kid... Also Where are you Scooby Doo!!!
Probably Scooby Doo, Adventure Time and Steven Universe all being tied for my top and Ninjago/Chowder coming in tied for second place. The misadventures of flapjack and Courage the cowardly dog scared me after a while lol. Love em but that one episode with the comb in Flapjack FREAKED. ME. OUT. Also most courage episodes scared me as a kid but I kept coming back for more-
Also what was the one show with the imaginary friends??? That show was AWSOME! Also the original Ben 10-

My favourite Childhood lineups were - Scooby Doo - Where are you, Flinstones, Jetsons, Courage the Cowardly dog, Josie and the Pussycats, Little lulu show, 13 ghosts of Scooby Doo, Ed Edd n Eddy, Addam's family, Captain Planet, Jonny Quest, Top Cat. Loved everybit of it. :)
Courage the cowardly dog, tom n jerry, flintstones, topcat, jetsons, teen titans, gumball, cow n chicken, I am weasel, jognny bravo, ed edd and eddy, dexters lab, samurai jack, powerpuff girls, billy and mandy, looney tunes
Kids next door 😆 dexter's lab, popeye, johnny bravo, courage the cowardly dog, the little lulu show, the flintstones, teen titans, ed edd and eddy, grimm adventures of billy and mandy
Cow and Chicken ranks up there for my brother and I even now, as does Dexters Lab, Ed, Edd and Eddy, as cliche as it might sound they don't make them like this anymore
so many good shows, so hard to choose, between COURAGE THE COWARDLY DOG, ED, EDD AND EDDY, JOHNY BRAVO, THE POWERPUFF GIRSL, THE KIDS NEXT DOOR and of course, THE GRIMM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY...
but if i had to choose, will be DEXTER'S LABORATORY, that show was insane good.
Old/"Boomerang" Era: Tom and Jerry
Middle/"Checkerboard Logo" Era: Powerpuff Girls, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Anime/"Toonami" Block: BOBOBO-BO-BO-BOBO, Hamtaro
Late/"CN" Era: Teen Titans
Final Era: Steven Universe, Adventure Time, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Regular Show
Pretty sure Cartoon Network is dead now after getting bought by AT&T for no reason and sold to Discovery, who's CEO hates animation and also took on a lot of debt by buying CN. Now they've laid off everyone and also pulled a lot of stuff from airing, even stuff that was already out, so that the only way to watch some shows is pirating them, since they're going the route of tax breaks to recoup losses. That's what I was told anyway.

listening to Code Lyoko op was bliss to my ears its such a nostalgic song. recalling back to it now, it surprises me how dark this show. im convinced it was an adults way of trauma dumping onto kids as subliminally as possible and we just consumed it like a regular evening cartoon 🤣
Dorothy from Big O was my first cartoon crush & watching her interactions with Roger was endearing. she was a great role model
The Iron Giant conditioned me into being a mecha sci-fi fan/tinfoil nerd haha. to this day this is prob my favorite animated movie of all time. they would marathon this movie so much back then and I would never get tired of rewatching it. i dont think theres any film that has aged as well as this
honorable mentions for Total Drama Island and 6teen. teen comedy drama was hitting different as a kid
and if Toonami counts thats a whole other discussion. Tom was my Mister Rogers growing up. huge impact on me listening to his motivational speeches from all those toonami bumpers that aired. I still go back to watch Broken Promises every now and then
i thank CN for my childhood and shaping me as a person. so many great memories
Ed Edd n Eddy. Idc about whoever says what, it's still my favourite childhood show. A whole lotta slapstick and sketch comedy, not to mention, the sound effects as well. So ehh.
I grew up with adventure time since its beginning and i might say i miss it.. rn cartoon network feels like a channel entirely for TTG(pls kill it already)

Ed Edd n Eddy
that show would never have anything as weird as it was, the whole surrealism of it was nuts.....so says the son of shepherd.
I met someone who shortens Edward to 'Edd', got some VERY peculiar looks when I remarked "Oh, double-D'
Hell yes the Ed’s cracked me up
My kids found this on HBO Max and they’re obsessed with it. Lol. They’re five.
I AM BUTTER TOAST * howling coyote sound YOU DARE MOCK THE SON OF A SHEPARD..ED BOY?! Great part of my childhood and I have clear memories of certain parts, episodes even 20 years later

O. M. G. That is so cool. Definitely up to rewatching it from start to finish now!!
It's pretty great. Some episodes are more light-hearted than others, and there might be a few plot holes, but the whole show is fantastic.
I did rewatch it from start to finish because I remember I never saw the finale of this show. Turns out it got cancelled by CN. Thank you for the write up!!! I’m super fascinated now to rewatch it. I really appreciate your insight thanks!

I never was one to copy homework, but go off.
Solid summary.
Dude, the last season that was out 13 years later was SOOO AMAZING! It was so badass and sucked at the same time (tear jerker ending).
Samurai Jack no doubt top-tier CN title.
I am now fully committed as a 33yo adult to rewatch it from beginning to end asap I appreciate everyone’s responses.
My daughter has been watching courage lately she’s only 3.5 I warned her first and she was adamant so now it’s daddy daughter bonding
Love it!
I haven't exposed any offspring yet because idk if they're ready, I watched it older than them and I know I thought some episodes were very creepy
They don't make'em like the OG Teen Titans anymore. Heck the creators of the newer Teen Titans know this fact and they won't do anything about it. IDK why

People make fun of me when my answer is chowder
Adult Swim was good
Total Drama Island, feels more like an adult swim show than a Cartoon Network show. The adult humor in it is still funny.
