lol my boyfriend and I just bought our first house, and I couldnāt be at the closing, but my boyfriend said the previous owner kept going on and on about how handy he wasā¦ā¦
Well, weāre doing our own work on the house now, and Iāve found myself mimicking my boyfriendās dad in mumbling, āwhat a douchebagā to myself as I chug along lol so embarrassing to openly brag to strangers about how handy you are when all of your handy work looks like it was done by someone who was blacked out drunk lol
51 years in residential construction and I thought Iād seen it all. Upside down fckng vanity.
I give the ābuddyā points for initiative, but I wouldnāt pay him anyway.
It's like they did a shitty job on purpose. I'd gut it and start again. If it looks that shoddy on the outside just imagine the plumbing and electrical.
Man the more I look the worse it gets. Wood backsplash (either used or nailed randomly in there?), crown for base, mismatched pencil scribe. Iād like to see the sink cut out
Thatās impressively stupid.
Although I just paid a local contractor $15k and got my plenty of impressively stupid work back for that, too š¤·āāļø
Iāve been there. I bought a building out of foreclosure a few years ago that the previous owner added a fake bathroom in the basement. The 2x4 walls were barely standing up. The vanity and sink were not screwed to anything and there was Zero plumbing to it.
The kicker was there was a toilet in there, that was bolted to the floor. But the WAS NO DRAIN under the toilet. No plumbing in the entire area of where they put it.
They were even nice enough to pour water in the toilet to make it appear useable.
Iāll be god damned, Iāve had some silly thoughts on the job site, but it takes a special mind to come up with something like this. Fucking legendaryā¦
Well you could flip the doors so the handles are closer to the top and add a decoration or store soaps on the shelf to make the spot look more intended.
Should've made this a megathread. There were so many other "features" in this house but this one took the cake. A runner up would've been the notched out rafter in the porch roof to allow the screen door to swing open... Or a plastic switch cover on a 1900 box... Or the ceiling tiles in the shower
Is this guy fucking slow? Holy shit dude what a dumb ass. Itās all fucked up anyway but flip the god damn thing around and itāll at least look a little closer to normal. What a Neanderthal.
Flip the doors over so the handles are up, set it on a riser so it adds the kickplate area back in, paint the exposed underside and i really don't hate it. Maybe the wife would finally put her god damn curling iron on the shelf instead of leaving it on the counter for weeks at a time. (Permanently)
Why would he waste his time cutting into the vanity like that, this wouldn't take much money or time replacing the Vanity if you don't want to remodel..
Turned it from a toekick to a dick kick. Nice.
Nah, he needed a shelf to rest the huge balls it takes to do that installation job.
Slap a towel bar on there, hang some washcloths, and keep those massive oysters squeaky clean.
A ball wash station
Came here for the ball shelf joke. Cheers!
After I figured out what I was looking at, I laughed pretty hard š¤£
That's methed up
Dick nook? Dick niche? Lots of possibilities.
Peniche
Trademark that, stat.
I don't usually laugh at this stuff but Peniche made me chuckle out loud. Kudos!
i doubled over at that one
You deserve some sort of reward
"That's how it came out of the box so it must be right side up!" Lol
Ahhh, THATāS what happened ā¦.
Maybe he thought the kick board was supposed to hide the underside of the sink?
Happy cake day. ā¬ļøš Best comment
These things happen when you order Australian vanities.
"iM hAnDy hOw hArD cOuLd iT bE?"
Itās supposed to be like that. Itās the new IKEA āKnĆÆsā
It took me an embarrassingly long time for me to figure this out. šš
lol my boyfriend and I just bought our first house, and I couldnāt be at the closing, but my boyfriend said the previous owner kept going on and on about how handy he wasā¦ā¦ Well, weāre doing our own work on the house now, and Iāve found myself mimicking my boyfriendās dad in mumbling, āwhat a douchebagā to myself as I chug along lol so embarrassing to openly brag to strangers about how handy you are when all of your handy work looks like it was done by someone who was blacked out drunk lol
OMG thatās amazing. Never seen that before for sure!!! Pure gold.
Look at the nice molding around the ''base!'' It's even been mitered!
Quality craftsmanship ya got there
Pure genius!! A place to rest my nuts while I wash my hands.
š Rest your nuts or crack your nuts? š
I wouldnāt trust one thing in that bathroom. It should be torn down to the studs and redone.
The "grout" is just stuff swept off the sidewalk and moistened.
i...think thats actually just leftover thinset. Or they pushed really hard on the tiles and let it fill in the gaps.
Yeah that bathroom looks disgusting as well. Tear it all out and redo the bathroom.
Who said they used studs? Could of just propped sheetrock agaisnt.... well i guess more sheet rock. Taped, maybe. Mudded, painted and went on.
This is one of the funniest things Iāve ever see on Reddit
What in the methamphetamine is going on here?
That is some tweaker shit for sure
Upside downā¦. How did the sink even fit?
Modified to accommodate
Thatāsā¦ definitely something
Holyyyyyyt Shit! How could you be that dumb!
Lucky the toilet isn't upside-down too.
51 years in residential construction and I thought Iād seen it all. Upside down fckng vanity. I give the ābuddyā points for initiative, but I wouldnāt pay him anyway.
He installed it upside down lol
Turned it into a bidet instead.
Damn. Not sure what's worse the sink or the tile...
Even used crown for the base!
It's like they did a shitty job on purpose. I'd gut it and start again. If it looks that shoddy on the outside just imagine the plumbing and electrical.
Well the cabinet was installed upside down
Wait. Is the toilet elevated?
Honestly the only thing in that bathroom that might be worth keeping is the toilet. The upside down sink sorta fits that decor.
How?!
Took me a minuteā¦
Same. I was thinking there is something familiar about that cabinet, but I couldn't quit put my finger on it. The no grout tiles is a nice touch too
I thinks the grout is dirt.
Wow. Must have been some good weed he was smoking prior š¤
there is no weed this good.
Cell phone shelf, duh. Actually, genius intellect
Why?
"Oh man! How'd you get the beans above the frank?" .
It took me a solid 15 seconds to realize what I was even looking at. What the fuck! š š¤£
10 points for the elevated shitter. Now yāall can gaze upon this masterpiece from a variety of angles.
I understand the how. Though it took me a bit. Other than maybe the other side being trashed, I canāt figure out the why.
I was trying to figure out why the door handles were so close to the floor, and then...
I can confirm it is a lot cheaper to put the vanity in upside down
Man the more I look the worse it gets.
"bathroom room"
He put it upside down
Iāve been there.
Wow. This is one of those things I understand and donāt understand at the same time.
Iāll be god damned, Iāve had some silly thoughts on the job site, but it takes a special mind to come up with something like this. Fucking legendaryā¦
bro didnt have a router or jigsaw to cut a hole in the top. so ehhhhhh flip it.
They used a jigsaw to fit the trap and supply lines in below.
oh . than the other comment about the guy needing a shelf for his balls is correct.
Perfect šš
Omg I feel like that toilet up on that floor is familiar. Is this in SCAL?
Uncle Upside Down installed that bad boy
Australian handyman?
Well............he was not wrong!
Huh. Australian cabinets maybe?
No matter which house you buy the guy that owned it before you was an idiot. This picture proves that statement right.
Is this in Australia by any chance?
Modern problems ,modern solutions
I bet he was so proud of the baseboard and the fact that he fixed the other guys upside down door issue.
āREALLY cheapā
Impressively terrible.
The faucet is nice? š¤£
Why is it so disgusting?
Seems like he went out of his way to make it ugly
I put in almost the exact same vanity; mine was white. It came pre assembled, the correct way. This, I donāt know what this is.
I can do it cheaper š
Letās just use our foot to open the drawer doors I guess, Covid proof
I have not laughed this hard in a while. This is truly impressive.
Is that sheet vinyl flooring on the wall too?
I know a guy š
A spot to put your phone down without getting it wet. Genius
Honestly, if it had another toekick at the bottom it wouldn't even look that bad š
I kinda like it
Cheap work. Exactly what he he said he'd do.
Oh my.
Just do a headstand sillyā¦ā¦.
Like the base casing ā¦ā¦.
It would be neat if normally oriented sinks had a ledge like that. You could put your stuff on there and leave the countertop open
That floor is filthy - wth!???
Can you say upside down?
A step down into the bathroom, then step up to the toilet? Tripping/falling hazard. The cabinet is a mess too.
Wow
Fucking nailed it ! š¤£š
The base is cut like crown. How can someone make those cuts but does this??
Is this outside?
Ayyye made the countertop fit.
As I said to my wife, this why I look at shit on Reddit. You cannot make this stuff up. This is gold.
Well you could flip the doors so the handles are closer to the top and add a decoration or store soaps on the shelf to make the spot look more intended.
Iām sorry is that a shower curtain behind the toilet?
Flip that vanity back over thatās just stupid
I almost want to print this on canvas and hang it in our office ššš
I donāt hate it.
Cheap price means Cheap quality
I replaced an upside down French doors before lol
I love that. Put a solid surface on the cliff and itās an awesome feature
Looks like beyond the toilet is access to the Upside Down.
Should've made this a megathread. There were so many other "features" in this house but this one took the cake. A runner up would've been the notched out rafter in the porch roof to allow the screen door to swing open... Or a plastic switch cover on a 1900 box... Or the ceiling tiles in the shower
I couldnt even dream of this
Thats methed up
Store some nice cactus plants on the nook for red accents
Itās like you guys have never seen a toddler accessible compliant vanity. You think with the pull location it would evident
Prick niche
I feel like this was much harder to do it wrong than it would have been to just do it right.
Thatās methāed up right there.
Id be more worried about how filthy your flooring isā¦
Look itās a new trend!
That is one ugly bathroom when you look at everything else.
Iām more concerned about whatās going on with that back wall and why the grout joints look moist
Funny
Talk me off the ledge.
Now i just gotta know. Whats it look like when you open the door lol
I wonāt lie, it took me a minute to realize the cabinet was upside downā¦ Iām not handy, never claimed to be however
The upside cabinet is one thing, that floor is disgusting. Gonna have to gut the entire bathroom.
Surely it came with a discount from this
Iād be more concerned about the nasty ass floor!
LOVE THE CASING-BASE.
I just keep wondering what problem they were trying to solve by installing it that way.
Sack shelf or beaver perch
At least they got an extra shelf out of the deal
Is this guy fucking slow? Holy shit dude what a dumb ass. Itās all fucked up anyway but flip the god damn thing around and itāll at least look a little closer to normal. What a Neanderthal.
Dang pcp
š thatās where the hole was
Makes me feel better about my DIY projects
Thatās the beer šŗ shelf
"I'll do it for the cost of materials and two butter sandwiches"
And?
So whatās going on with the toilet in the background?!
Wtf is happening behind the toilet
I've seen this before too
Must be staged. Nobody is this dumb.
You guys never let me down š
This looks like the bathroom in the Clemont lounge.
Which part ?
This is my new favorite thing
Mint
This is intriguing, disgusting, and makes me feel more confident in my own DIY fuckups.
Hahaha
Thatās a one of a kind!
WTF
Wow! Thatās a first.
Not for nothinā- but sweeping the floor would bump this up a notch or two from āreally cheapā
LOL, this is awesome
Flip the doors over so the handles are up, set it on a riser so it adds the kickplate area back in, paint the exposed underside and i really don't hate it. Maybe the wife would finally put her god damn curling iron on the shelf instead of leaving it on the counter for weeks at a time. (Permanently)
Thatās hideous
āReally cheapā
This is definitely one of the bathrooms of all time
More corners for you to smash your face on when tripping off that step.
That sink is fucked
I kept thinking he built it from scraps until I realized it was upside-down... lol
Slap another slab on it snd make it a shelf
Too funny š
Drunk or Irish or both?
Why so many levels? Step up right at the door and the stool.
Upside down vanity. Nice touch
Matches the tilework
That grout is haunting me.
iām surprised the spout is in the center
That is both nasty and pathetic.
Hope she didn't pay much for it.
Why would he waste his time cutting into the vanity like that, this wouldn't take much money or time replacing the Vanity if you don't want to remodel..
Itās not cut ā¦ itās upside down.
What? Youāve never seen a sink with a guestās toothbrush shelf?
Youāre in the upside down from *Stranger Things*.
So is that a picture of the room in the bathroom? Sounds fancy.
So sheās opening that cabinet with her toes?
āTrust me, Iām a carpenterā
Thatās a nice tooth brush ledge.

This is perfect!
Nice extra lil shelf
