We all go through it, bro. You just have to get used to it, and with time you'll figure out what routes you can get away with, what you have to avoid, etc. There's lots of gameplay videos out there if you want to see how the really, really good players play extreme. Your team is also probably not any good right now, so that will help as well as you train up your players and get new ones in. But keep at it!

Tasty_Poet_2507

Thank you for the encouragement. I thought that's what I was getting into but wasn't sure. I want to build the legacy I just wasn't quite sure because I was getting beat so bad

I can't post the photo, but the first 5 games I ever played on extreme for my league were -30, +1, -18, -21, and -8 (on a Year 2 save). When I got to year 3, I started -15, +1, +7, -3, +10. So it gets better! Also, if/when you ever want to join a league, there's a great one where we play the college version of the game and compare our scores. r/RCAA Good luck!

Tasty_Poet_2507

Oh yes! I've been playing the college version a lot recently. I have nore attachment to my college team so that is cool

Thirst_Trappist

You've got to control the clock vs getting into a shoot out. For me that was a big help in extreme especially when I was building up a team. For defense, your best Chauce is making sure every one of them is 4.5-5 star players

PrimisClaidhaemh

No you're not bad, Extreme mode is just stupid. You don't have to play it. Play what makes the game fun for you.

Tasty_Poet_2507

Well I've been playing dynamic and I've had it max capped at 16 and I can win by 20 plus every game. I wanted the challenge I just didn't know how big of a step it was.

PrimisClaidhaemh

You're better off setting limits for yourself/your team to get a better actual challenge that's fair. Maybe limit yourself to only 3-star rosters or something? Or just further about the challenge aspect and mess around. So Run Only seasons, Run QB Only seasons, etc... There's a reason the dev didn't want to do Extreme, but caved to the pressure. It's because it's so difficult that it takes any chance or randomness out of the game entirely. You have to be perfect, all the time basically.

Tasty_Poet_2507

Yeah that was one thing I noticed. I can manage the clock but if I get all the way down and throw an int or fumble it's Game over. I hoping that once I build up to 5 star o and d I can at least make 1 mistake and be ok

disco-infiltrat0r

screen passes to rb rather than tapping on the rb, forget anything related to defence at the start, prioritise a qb with a cannon and a wr who can catch and/or is speedy. get ready to throw a lot of jump passes. I actually switched from extreme back to dynamic after going undefeated for a season to do rb-only plays - way way way more fun for me. oh yeah, get used to grinding out a possession over a quarter to manage that clock too lol

Tasty_Poet_2507

Oh yeah the screen pass is money. And I will try that after a season or 2. And yes, If i have it for the whole quarter they don't

build your defense! super understudied and underappreciated mechanic. positions, skills, and attributes matter. for extreme, you’ll want 4 speed oriented DBs and 3 speed oriented LBs, and make sure they all have good tackling if you want their morale to stay up. the game makes up tackling numbers based on that, and weighs tackles and turnovers the same for the player’s postgame/postseason score rating (a player with 6 tackles and 1 INT will receive a rating of 7 after a game, same as 7 tackles). while this doesn’t actually impact the game, it impacts player morale, experience, and fan perception of the player. don’t draft defense talent unless you get a really great player in the draft, lower star rating players will almost never make stops on extreme and this will be reflected in their experience gain and morale. sign from free agency instead. this won’t guarantee a stop every drive, but it will make stops much more often, and give your offense some breathing room. if you want to learn more about the defense mechanic, i left a more in-depth comment [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroBowl/s/NY6S5BeTya)

Tasty_Poet_2507

Thank you so much, that will help a lot

I’m sure there might be a better way to maintain this but my method for coaching is to be given a 1-star coach with an attribute and then at the beginning, extend their contact for only 1 coin/year. I currently have both coordinators locked in for 40 years and only spent 80 coins total and they will be 5-star coaches before you know it with plenty of time remaining. I think it helps save coins considering extending a 2-star coach is I think 5 coins/year.

Ok_Skirt6920

Honestly once you get a good to great qb, you’ll be set. And your defense will probably always suck, so it’s gonna be high scoring games most of the times. Unless you’re playing against one of the worst teams in the league.
