Make sure you are using 2.4G (not combined signal) and your SSID is only letters with no spaces or punctuation.

umuuut96

I'm using a FritzBox Router. I already use 2.4 G only. Turned off 5G completly. Already changed the SSID without spaces and punctuation... :(

AnynameIwant1

If you already connected to it via the other app, it might not connect to the Roborock app at the same time. If you made changes to your router/SSID since then, I would try to remove it from there and try again in Roborock. Beyond that, I'm honestly not sure.

umuuut96

Tried already. It is in the xiaomi home app now but when I open the roborock app it wants to connect to a new device.

JohnyEnglish_CZ

The wifi can be on combined 2.4/5 Ghz network. It works just at it should.

AnynameIwant1

I think mine came with a card of wifi tips and that was one of the tips on there. But it could have been something I read online too as I had the connection issue initially. I haven't had an issue since I followed those tips I wrote in my initial comment. (S5 Max)

RickJds

I used two words with a hyphen in between and it connected just fine. This was my guest network. If your router supports creating a guest network Try that on the 2.4G band. Have you tried rebooting both the S7 and your router?

dj2_Percent

Have you tried restarting your modem and router? Or enabling location permission?

IT_Pawn

You could try setting up a new ssid and stupid simple password (Password123) to validate that it isn't a word thing where it didn't like the ssid or password for your normal network. Also make sure you don't have dns blocking like pihole accidentally blocking it from reaching out to its home and causing this error

What setting are on the Roborock app that are not on the MiHome app? These are reported to have all of the same setting available.

Vertigo722

Mihome doesnt integrate with alexa/google home. The option is there, it just doesnt work. OTOH roborock app doesnt let me extract a token, so i cant use it in Home Assistant.

tommycw10

Interesting. I didn’t know that it didn’t integrate to Alexa/Google. I use MiHome because I needed the token to integrate with openHAB and I use that to integrate to Alexa. That might be a work around for you if you can’t fix the issue, just integrate to HASS and and use its integration to Alexa/Google etc.

Went through ether same thing with an S4 almost 2 years ago. My post is probably still on this sub. For me, what did it was using an iOS device for the initial setup. Then back to android.

overclocked_tanks

I’m having the exact same problem today. The mi home app connects to vacuum fine but the Roborock app doesn’t even find the vacuum to setup wifi. Stuck on second step “Transfer information to device step. “

umuuut96

I was able to connect it! I needed to change the DNS Settings to [8.8.8.8](https://8.8.8.8) on my Router. Now it was able to connect it! :)

overclocked_tanks

Does the connection still work if you change your DNS back after the vacuum is setup?

umuuut96

Yes

overclocked_tanks

Awesome. Thanks. Will give that a shot.

overclocked_tanks

Did you first delete the device from mi app and delete the app before trying to connect it to Roborock app?

umuuut96

Yes

overclocked_tanks

I got it to work but it turned out to be the stupidest thing. I tried everything with no luck. Factory reset vacuum, rename wifi, try different networks, changed router dns and even turning off the 5.0 ghz on my router. I was so frustrated, I was about to return the vacuum. On the eero I even tuned off secure+ service, didn’t help. THE SOLUTION. Waiting a bit longer before going back to the Roborock app after connecting to the vacuum wifi. “Transferring information to the device” was failing for me only in the Roborock app. Not sure if it’s an eero or iOS 15 issue but I had a feeling it was taking slightly longer for the devices to communicate on the network after initially being added. Basically, Roborock app try’s to connect immediately after you back to the app after selecting the vacuum wifi. If it doesn’t connect immediately, it says it failed. Mi app won’t goto the next step until connect is made with the vacuum wifi.

umuuut96

Wow.. at least it works now :D

overclocked_tanks

Yeah that’s true. Would liked not to have spent 2 hours plus multiple having to map the same floor over and over.

umuuut96

I tried everything mentioned here and I can‘t find a solution. I wrote a Mail to the support yesterday. Will update you once I find a Solution..

DetachableMonkey

I had this problem with my initial setup. I am using Google Wifi pucks that don't have the ability to turn off the 5ghz. So, what I did was take my phone and robot outside of my house and kept walking until my phone was no longer connected to the 5ghz, but was connected to 2.4Ghz. At that spot, that's where I was able to successfully set everything up.

Ali_Alhosani

Similar thing happened to me a while ago. It turns oit that roborock server was down at the same time I was trying to add my S5Max , I knew that their server was down from this sub

FisHNorway

I had the same issue yesterday. Added the S7 with the Mi Home app and updated the firmware. After that I was able to add it in the Roborock app...

burnoutslo

Happens to me also - can't connect any Xiaomi device with my OnePlus 8T, so I just connect it with my wifes iPhone and then share the device.
