"I built massive Julii armies ..." From my perspective as a dedicated Scipii player you are the Barbarian Invasion ;)

OneEyedMilkman87

Is there a mod that ports BI mechanics into Rome or vice versa? Would have been cool if by [insert historically correct date] a few armies from certain factions would pop up like the huns in Attila.

SlinGnBulletS

The remastered version ports a couple of mechanics from BI into the base game. The only thing missing is emergent factions and religions I think.

DanyMok22

Emergent factions and religion aren't in the base game of the Remaster, but they are ready in the files and can be modded in.

Guy_on_Xbox

Agreed! Not sure about any mods.

OneEyedMilkman87

I suppose you could abuse the game files and romeshell cheats to "mimic" that sudden influx of enemy armies. Tbf, If rebel armies actually did something other than sit on trade routes and ambush you, then it could be a totally different game, not having peasants as garrisons just in case a random 5 star general and 10 regional troops launches aj attack.

ertri

That was the mechanic of the Golden Horde in Medieval 1 I thinkĀ

InternationalLoad891

I used to setup massive armies in Med 1 and wait for the Golden Horde's arrival. I could defeat the entire horde in one epic battle. Took me about 3 - 5 hours usually to fight that on a crappy old PC. The Golden Horde is ridiculously easy to defeat, as it turns out. The Khan will always suicide charge into your pikes/spears which will cost a big morale penalty. Then it's just a matter of surviving the horde's HA (pavise crossbowman owns them) and beating their few melee cav. Once the first 2 stacks are defeated, additional horde units come on the battlefield with enough morale penalty to break immediately.

DePraelen

The Total Conquest mod does - there are hordes that appear simulating the Celtic migrations in the 3rd-1st century BCE. One is in northern Greece at game start, simulating the Gallic tribes moving across the Balkans that eventually became the Galatians who settled in central Anatolia. Some of the Celtic factions become hordes when they lose their last settlement too.

FoxOne9853

Hasn't total conquest been abandoned? Im pretty sure I remember seeing it on the steam workshop with that

DePraelen

Hmmmm yeah it looks like it has, I played it a while back when it was still supported. I played it as the Achaean League and was invaded by one of the hordes when I only had ~4-5 settlements. It was tough, the experience such with me XD. From what I remember, it was still pretty fleshed out though.

With remastered yes

Squalor would become a feature instead of an eventuality
