When I ran my first 5k I was placed in corral B. The only race I had done for NYRR prior was a virtual 9+1 race. So my assumption was that they had taken my data from the virtual race. Or if that's not true they got race data on me from other races I've done outside of NYRR. Either way that is my correct corral pace so I was happy.
Half the race would be in corral A if that were allowed…

I think you self report your anticipates pace when they sign up and they use that.
