I previously had the s23u and am now very unhappy with the s24u. For me the problem is more noise in low light. Not dark, just a cloudy day indoors. But since the setup is more or less the same, I hope for a change in the update.

ThirstyGO

S23U was excellent! Only reason I got s24u was because I gifted my S23U to a relative who needed a phone. It gave me an excuse to 'upgrade'. The irony that s24u got all the hype, yet the S23U was a sleeper.

herpideperpi

Haha. Same to me. Grandpa is 76. My excuse is always the same. Prefer giving with "warm" hand.

NoMansWarmApplePie

I got mine as a replacement for insurance. I was like, upgrade for 100 bucks? Why not.... SMH I didn't know any of these issues.

Davemks

Nice to read these comments since I didn't switch to S24U and still use S23U

Callum626

I turn off all of the AI processing shit

Targaryen-ish

Does that solve the issues?

MMAX110

Nope

AnnualContext3929

same question

Callum626

Yeah, its adding a colourness filter.

Crank_A_liciouS

This is not entirwly possible with s24u. It always after effects with AI

Callum626

really? my photos have never looked so off so.... disgustingly green and i tried to turn all the AI shit off I dont want it, i dont want to pay for it. samsung fuck off.

Callum626

maybe im just okay with it cus i have no comparison and every other phone ive owned has been low-mid tier

InevitableVegetable

I installed GCam and that solved this issue for me. It's crazy that they would force this weird post processing with no way to turn it off

GoanGeek

Hi. 1. Please keep to the default lenses (.6, 1.3 & 5) and 12MP for the time being as that's where it shines. The rest of the modes and zooms are pants and I'd stay away from them until they can sort it out with the August 6.1.1 update . There are a couple of ways to make your shutter speed faster .

ThirstyGO

I agree mostly.... sometimes shines but sometimes it's just as bad. Not sure what in hell is this! https://preview.redd.it/jyodbvsyj5bd1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=014bffcf5a939aa350790eb200a3e20e0b66beb8

ThirstyGO

Nope! I know all the ins/outs of Samsung... No filters whatsoever. This was the best I can get today under trees https://preview.redd.it/ck47jfbnk5bd1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=861f9f798df1c58e7e15dd83b44c25143ba066e9

Puzzleheaded_Bit1959

This seems incredibly weird. You're sure it's not a hardware fault? Tried a different camera app? You can download the google camera app here: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/ I've never seen that green tint on any Samsung phone. It's weird.

AnnualContext3929

which one do I download, there's a lot of versions to choose from, I'm using base s24

Puzzleheaded_Bit1959

https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/ If you don't want to play around too much just use one of the Android 11+ versions. In case of crashes, go down and pick another.

AnnualContext3929

aight, thank you

Cool_Celebration_379

Go for the ruler version or the one that says Samsung AGC camera seems the best one for the s24 ultra

Delicious-Rabbit2797

Yes! I never had green tint problems.

GoanGeek

Weird. Don't know what to say to that. I am queit happy with mine. As stated on 12MP mode and default lenses.

Kajfal

Weird green tint, I thought it was only a coincidence in the car photo, ive had issues myself but not this kind of issues. WB on auto? Filters?

Delicious-Rabbit2797

☹️

singlebullet

I keep thinking about buying an S24U, but then see one thread after another like this on Reddit full of complaints, and just can't pull the trigger. I can no longer figure out if it's the phone, Reddit, or me that's the problem -- maybe it's a bit of all three. One thing seems certain... for a phone at this price range there sure seems to be a lot of dissatisfaction.

Xiartin

Yeah in the same boat, coming from a Pixel 6 Pro, the camera is the one thing that's holding me off on the S24u, might wait till if this 'august' update clears it up, or might just wait till the s25ultra 😂

singlebullet

I might just wait till the S25U as well. Although with Samsung, it'll probably be a new set of problems that come with it. Seems to be the way of things with Samsung. Originally, everyone here was saying there was supposed to be a big camera update in June. I was waiting for that to see if it ended the complaints. It never arrived. Not sure if I'd rely on them when they now say August. Good luck with your search for a new phone!

Broad-Candidate3731

I've bought the S24u and sold couple of month later. Camera is really bad if you are coming from a pixel. If you care about photography don't buy it sure the battery last longer than a p8pro but I have chargers lol. The moments don't come back for me to take another photo. I'm more than happy with p8pro

mattig03

Samsung are probably never going to able to match Google's image processing.

yowspur

Both cameras look terrible in the first shot

Youngnathan2011

Pixel looks less blown out though.

SatishDSN

Samsung has always been bad for point and shoot , pixel and iPhones are more reliable

ThirstyGO

Pixel/iPhone may have always been BETTER, but Samsung was never this BAD in all settings (zoom, portrait, sun, daylight, night, etc). It's wows maybe 1 in 20, at best. It's worse than Goldilocks

SatishDSN

TM Roh is desperate to cut some costs I guess never have I ever seen Samsung messing up so much in their flagship line up that too the most expensive one . The S23U was a very good smartphone not sure I could say the same after all the issues which have been surfacing for the last 4-5 months . They are in denial mode rn tbh

ThirstyGO

Thankfully during a graduation ceremony, it was entirely overcast, so perfect uniform lighting plus s24u having a good day, yielded beautiful portrait shots. Knew here not to use 50/200mp mode and this was before June update.

MaximusBellendusII

Not true. The S21 Ultra was every bit a point and shoot camera, to the point you'd need to go out your way to take a bad photo. I naively upgraded to the S24U thinking I'd be getting a camera upgrade and it's appallingly bad in comparison.

busybeegal555

I disagree. As a career professional photographer, the S21+ camera was absolutely horrid. Not impressed with 24U either, but it's a least a little better.

LivingBestLife777

I have the S21 Ultra and have been complimented on my pictures often. I just purchaesd the S24 Ultra (still in the box) and am considering returning it based on the many comments I've seen across Reddit. Would you have stayed with the S21 Ultra if you could go back?

MaximusBellendusII

100%. I upgraded as my 21 Ultra was almost 3 years old and battery wasn't great. I assumed I would be getting a camera of equal spec, if not better. It's dog shit in comparison unless you're using in perfect conditions. I travel regularly and take a lot of night time time photography, so the camera is the most important feature to me. So I'm now waiting on the S25 Ultra to trade in / upgrade (assuming they get the camera back up to spec) but that will mean I've wasted a fair chunk of money in having the 24U for less than a year.

LivingBestLife777

thank you for the input. i just love my S21 Ultra and am shocked at what I'm reading about S24U. I travel, too, and the camera is very important to me. I did get such a good deal with Trade In and discounts, i'll have to take that into consideration. I was just concerned with the S21U losing value. I ended up paying around $670 after tax/trade-in/discounts for the 1TB, so maybe i could sell it and come out ahead if I'm disappointed?

anxiousdoodle

Honestly my experience has been 50/50, either it's a garbage image that really disappoints given the price of the phone, or a wonderful result coming from an actual flagship. What sucks more is that this is very much a software issue that Samsung CAN fix, lets wait for the rumored August update ...

busybeegal555

My S9 camera was AMAZING!

mmaslam94

Same here. I will wait for the July or August update at max otherwise I will give it up. Might get the Pixel 9 then

Own_Leadership_7293

u have big patience, i sold it after 4 months . samsung will never fix this, its an issue since the s20 series

Broad-Candidate3731

Agree, I've sold it too. Camera is a gamble

mmaslam94

Where I live, we need to pay tax to have it registered on the cellular network. So I can't pay that again and again. Once you resell, you lose the value of the tax

ThirstyGO

The 5 year old Note 20 should not be better than this. According to leaks, the July update will not fix any telephoto issues. However, I'll wait for it and see what it does. The 50/200mp shots are nearly unusable. While I have fun SOMETIMES setting up for the perfect photo, I don't have the luxury for every shot.

mmaslam94

Its horrendous. Now the update will fix it or it won't. They will forget this in the midst of the FLIP FOLD launch

dadecounty3051

100% with you. Samsung might just call it a loss.

fish_in_a_barrels

They are going to start really shedding customers.

mmaslam94

Even my flip 5 was better than this

dadecounty3051

I am highly upset bc I had an iPhone 11 pro and told my self to go back to android. The camera is terrible and the apps don't run smoothly as an iPhone. So I am here debating what I should do with the s24 ultra now.

CompetitiveHealth829

Same here, but I might get the 9 Pro or X100 Ultra.

Broad-Candidate3731

9 pro will beat any S24u update... p8pro already beat by a mile

Candid_Journalist334

But..but.. "My S24U clicks the bestest pics", "Just use pro mode you noob".. "Funny how psople saying S24U cam is bad nsver attach pics, so they are just liars".. and all the other stuff fan boys would generally say.  Samsung users are slowly turning into Apple community just as Samsung phones are slowly copying apple aesthetics. You can't just criticize the phone.   Now that you have attached pics, the argument would be "S24U is the best when you use pro mode". I mean who the f uses a phone to do "pro" shots? Get a DSLR and pro away. Phones are meant for point and shoot. If I see my kid or pet doing something I ain't gonna ask them to hold their pose while I tinker around settings or setup a dslr. I will pull out my phone and use it as is.   For the price they charge, the camera is downright bad, something I expect to see in a A series not on the top flagship.   People still saying pics are good either don't use the camera in all conditions or haven't used the pixel 8 pro or iphone 15 pro's caneras. Those are the best point and shoot ones on the market right now. For me it is the grainy quality of less than ideal light indoor pics. Effing pics look like it's printed on sandpaper sometimes. Drives me crazy.

Broad-Candidate3731

You should see my smile at my first picture with a Pixel8Pro lol Coming from a s24u it's a instantaneous upgrade. Browsing in Google photos you can see the difference really easy . With s24u you need to take 5 pictures to save one. It's ridiculously subpar

Candid_Journalist334

This here summarizes the general S24U camera experience. A horribly inconsistent setup.  Click dozens of pics and a couple will inadvertently turn out good. Post those on social media with #S24UCameraBest and berate anyone who says otherwise.

Syed117

OP, this argument is a losing battle. You are 100% right. The camera is atrocious for point and shoot which is the main purpose of a cell phone camera for the vast majority of people. I sold my s24 ultra and got a pixel 8 pro. Camera is infinitely better and there is absolutely no excuse for a phone of the price of the s24 ultra to have a busted camera. Couldn't be happier after making the switch. Don't get into arguments with idiots who say "it's great if you use pro mode" and whatever other stupid responses.

Broad-Candidate3731

I did the same. Great phone. Using caseless btw too

Syed117

Yeah, after switching I realized that the S24 is too much phone. I used the stylus once maybe and it just wasn't worth it. The camera being that bad is a deal breaker. Pixel 8 pro camera is incredible and in day to day use I don't see much difference in speed or usability.

absurd_whale

S24u terrible cameras, but overall Samsung has shitty color science. I don't know who can actually like sharp as fuck and saturated as shit pictures.

Anti_Karen_League

yk you can turn off all the optimisation right?

goldtoesocks

* This is my 50mp I don't hate it.

Youngnathan2011

Honestly I've been using a 12 year old mirrorless camera cause I don't really like the photos Samsung takes.

Minimum_Sir_2148

After 12 years on Samsung, like almost every year, I bought the best phone Samsung offered in that time. I had S24 Ultra for 4 months and just bought Vivo X100 Pro. Still didn't sell my S24 Ultra. After one week of usage, this is the conclusion. 1. Vivo has a much better photo camera 2. Video is better on Vivo 3. Night pictures, night videos are much better 4. The battery was perfect for the first month on S24 Ultra. Now it is not, and Vivo is holding better 5. Pen is one huge plus on S24 6. Display and colour tones are better on Vivo (personal preference).

Minimum_Sir_2148

2. Just to edit, Vivo is better for video

McDonaldscombomeal

Careful you're going to upset the fanboys. Remember no Samsung product has a fault or you're an Apple fanboy! Even though you don't have an apple. I'll never understand the Samsung fanboy logic.

ThirstyGO

I'll never understand consumer brand loyalty. I had Samsung back in the S4, S5 days, hated then bloat ware and sluggish performance after the first month. First Pixel was 2, then 3xl, 4xl, before trying Samsung again with Note 20. I was impressed, since all the ultras, now have Watch 5 Pro, and tab s7+ to Tab S8 ultra, and now Tab S9.. Either they get it perfected soon, or happy to go back to Pixel or other.

Aes85

Which S9 you got? Just bought an S9+ thanks to the 400€ cashback+10% summer discount+student discount+free keyboard. I'm very happy with it, also because my previous tablet was a Huawei Mediapad 5 with 32gb, lol. I was going to buy the S24 ultra cause of the 200€ cashback+10% summer discount+ student discount but In the end I didn't because I saw lots of ppl complaining about the camera.

ThirstyGO

Traded in S8 Ultra at launch for the S9 256gb ($90). Happy they offer the smaller one with OLED finally. Loved S8 ultra, but too big for my use. Loved looking at it, but 11" is much handier. Don't have any complaints about it... It's because of the tablet, I'd prefer sticking with Galaxy phones but it works good enough with Pixel should I drop Samsung phones.

Alt-Tabris

I'm going to upset both sides by saying I bought this phone to play games on and don't care about the camera.

McDonaldscombomeal

Horrible phone for that. Literally any gaming phone is better lol.

Alt-Tabris

What if I don't care about gaming phones? I haven't had any problems so I don't see any reason to switch. But I guess I gotta make up some problems to not sound like a Samsung fanboy. I am aware of their faults, but none of them affect me so I don't care lol the power of Boomerism.

McDonaldscombomeal

Then you don't care about gaming. And who said anything about a fanboy seems like you're trying to justify something. You said you got it for playing games. Gaming phones are vastly superior for playing games That's the whole point of them. Samsung has never designed a phone for gaming. That's like buying an office computer and then saying you bought it just for gaming. All right talking about the faults of Samsung phones I'm talking about gaming features like shoulder buttons, higher touch refresh rates, better cooling system so they don't throttle, software for setting up macros. Now go ahead and tell me that you're not a serious gamer. I mean it almost seems like you're trying to convince yourself that you got the right phone lol.

Alt-Tabris

>Careful you're going to upset the fanboys. Who said anything about a fanboy? I guess it wasn't you that wrote that, then. I never said I was a serious gamer. But I guess you thought I did so now you're proud that I said "I'm not a serious gamer". I guess that's the joke. Are you just mad I don't have any problems? It sounds like you're an elitist and hate how casual I am about everything.

Lazarus92009

There was no June camera update. The security patch was released in June, it has nothing with camera processing. There should be an update coming soon, probably end of this month. I have been very disappointed, as many others, with S24U camera software so far. Still, Pixel Fold is non-comparable to S24U...camera on Pixel Fold is at the level of S20, S21 at best. If I'd buy a smartphone for taking photos tomorrow, I will go for the following: 1. Vivo x100 Ultra 2. Huawei P70 Pro 3. Xiaomi 14 Ultra 4. Honor Magic 6 Pro 5. Vivo x100 Pro S

ThirstyGO

You're right officially but something happened after June update, and don't know why.

md_eric

This is one of the two reasons I don't go with Galaxy. Really the main reason. The cameras are just unnatural.

Puzzleheaded_Bit1959

It's a pity. I'm currently torn between an iPhone 15 pro max and the S24 Ultra. iPhone has the worse OS but better battery life and camera. S24U has the better display and OS. I'm not even huge on photography but paying so much money for a shitty camera doesn't feel good. I've never liked the image quality on Samsung phones, they really have to up their game there.

md_eric

Yep that's the tossup. iPhone got the battery and build quality. Samsung is the best hardware hands down and that s pen is great whenever you need it. Pixel has lower end specs compared to the galaxy but better camera. I chose the pixel because of the camera...and when it comes down to that, iPhone wins in video but pixel wins in photos 🤯

EnoughStatus7632

Get snapseed. It's almost all post-processing.

EUWGojuRyu

I have the s24u and iam happy with it tbh. I mainly use the 50M mode and all of the photos turn out good.

TackyAuto

Literally used my phone to take some photos this evening alongside a 14 Pro Max and the photos mine produced were considerably better than the 14PM. Point and shoot, no special settings. Second S24U I've had now with the same result... Dodgy batch maybe?

TheBassStalker

We have two s24U in our house and ours consistently take better pics than the iPhones they replaced and our friend's iPhones. To the point we're usually asked to take group pics because they turn out better. I am not saying people are fibbing but people here seem to have a really different experience than anyone I know that actually owns one. If we're all just lucky - them I'm ok with that too.

TackyAuto

I'm suspecting there was a bad batch, as some mentioned grain of the screen and some really poor banding in some

TheBassStalker

Very possible. Especially the green tint - that seems like a hardware defect.

BruisedBee

I think you actually have a hardware fault my dude. That green tint is naff.

iThunderclap

Does the Fold suffer from crap like this too?

Humble_Ad_1460

Overall, s24U is a flagship, but it's not best on something anymore, it's just very "good" at everything.

mikmeh

Sucks my S10+ I upgraded from took better pics.

Azure-Ink

Is the s24u camera bad? GSMArena lists it as their top recommendation.

Galaxyultra

Back in S7/S8/S9/S10 days Samsung were one of the best at photos.

mountainmycelium

Had my S24U for about a week before I shipped it back and went back to my 22. The camera is a legit horrible downgrade. No idea what I'll upgrade to next now.

andyck1983

The photos on my s22 ultra are phenomenal!!!! I wanna upgrade to the 24 ultra but I know it's not really a big leap in tech by any means, only a tiny bit different, but I've heard it finally has a flat screen!! But yh stuff like this puts me off too like the other dude said

ShanTheMan11

It’s just so inconsistent for me. Sometimes it does great shots and sometimes it’s one of the worst cameras I’ve ever had. If I know im going to be going somewhere I’m taking a lot of pictures, I’ve been switching my sim over into my 15pm and using that as my phone for the day.

Final-Garage3326

Not good for me either, upvote n send this thread to Samsung support, in my return phase

WanderingHewitts

I have the pixel 7 pro and use it to record my videos for our YouTube channel and it constantly is overheating when shooting in 4k/30FPS and was going to get the S24 plus but I am really hesitant now. I don't care as much about photos but I need the video quality to be there. I don't hear much about video on an S24, just camera photos. I can get an S24 plus for like $665 with trading in my phone but might wait for the S25 but now they say they are dropping the Plus from the series.

RiceXPatty0619

Just a quick shot, didn'tdo anything special. I feel like maybe yours is a hardware issue. I know I had to return mine for a new one because it had battery issues, among other things. But since then, it's been amazing, and I'm in love with the camera. https://preview.redd.it/7nyfhaje2ibd1.jpeg?width=1500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c823d9e73995421ebc11c2039e46fed2c522c011

Aggravating_Ad5632

I, too, have experienced no issues with the S24U camera. I came from an S22U which *did* have a dreadful camera; in the summer, I couldn't use video for more than a few minutes before the phone overheated! The one on my S24U has proven to be excellent.

ThirstyGO

I'm broad daylight, it can usually take fine photos. However try it in 50/200mp and even in full sun, it fails. Consistency is maddening. I can show off some beautiful shots too, but looking at my gallery, more than half are bad..

Jesslaro

I think the s22U camera setup was the best they had

MrJuans26

Is pure trash 🗑 H a t e I t!

mkawasd

A new major update to s24 ultra camera is coming soon that will address all this and make the software take advantage of the hardware

Numerous_Ticket_7628

ThirstyGO

So they say. Been nearly 6 months, several camera updates, and no improvements

Romengar

There have been updates. I don't recall any of them being *camera* updates?

Numerous_Ticket_7628

Theres been a few camera updates, the camera version number has changed and there has been updates to for eg night mode, it was just after the phone was released and everyone got the update worldwide at once.

Cropped in both the same amount https://preview.redd.it/85un8v2oc4bd1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e3c01bf416aa8a1e391c44533dfd541488595508

thekillerloop

Explain what's bothering you here plz

aafa

Right one looks better and less washed

Aggravating_Ad5632

Actually, it looks underexposed to me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

BrandynBerry

Big update coming in august

vagueAF_

It's not perfect(no camera is) but 90% of the time it does what I want. That last 10% you need to assist the camera to know what you want. People area lazy these days expecting the camera to mind read. All cameras have strong and weak points, learn how to adapt.

ThirstyGO

It's truly only 20% good. Want to argue it's 30%? Ok. However , It's not user error whatsoever ! Nor laziness! Why oh why do we always blame users, but not the trillion dollar corporations?!

vagueAF_

Because you are obviously hating. All cameras have pros and cons. I have a Sony a7r5 & a Canon 5dmk4. Both cost over $4k when I bought them a few years ago(both billion $$ corporations). These are professional camera... And guess what?? They are not perfect In fact their flaws shit me even though they produce industry leading image quality. So my s24u is not perfect but I'm super impressed at what the cameras can do, knowing their strengths and weaknesses. As the USER it's up to me to work with.. and not expect to just press a button and have magic happen. Ive had the s21u,s22u,s23u,s24u and the camera got better(and computation with it) each time while none of them being perfect. You want good photos, you have work with the tech and I've gotten great results.

ThirstyGO

You're obviously a fanboy or work for Samsung.. comparing a pro camera to a mass market cell phone is beyond ridiculous. No worth debating

vagueAF_

I hit you with logic and you use emotion, you are correct.. it's not worth debating you.

No-Interaction-2165

Except that your logic is flawed ; phones, especially nowadays phones, are packed with real time and post processing software, now even with some AI/machine learning. You can’t compare that to a DSLR which yes, requires user implication to get good results and doesn’t have all this active processing, hence having to tinker with settings for almost every different shot. The reason why those phones have so much processing going on is so it can just be used as a point and shoot camera. If you wanted to tinker with settings there’s a pro mode, you shouldn’t have to do this in the standard mode just to get barely acceptable (and still under the competition) results. All your mental gymnastics to justify it and pretend it’s intended to be like this is hilarious, the camera as it is on the S24 Ultra is pretty much garbage. Samsung as a whole seems to suck pretty bad in the camera department for years now especially in low light, they’re aware of it, they’re just incapable of solving it or just don’t want to invest into a solution because sheeps like you will just keep buying and shut down anyone trying to point the issue.

KingOfWeTheNorth

Just a normal person who uses their phone every day: what's wrong here? Lmao

KatzNK9

You are satisfied with the Pixel quality? But not the S24U? Looks to me like both cameras failed &/or a poor choice of settings turning your gorgeous dog to appear so green. JMO But, by all means, since you are so woefully unhappy, get rid of the S24U & move on down the road.

ThirstyGO

I chose pixel fold because it's far inferior to Pixel 8/Pro. And zero excuse for downgrade vs S23 ultra. Even though S23U was temperamental, it was the difference between average and excellent, and predictable. S24u is neither predictable (mostly) and either average to abysmal, with the great shots needing ideal conditions and set-up. Never produced literally garbage images, even one-offs, from any premium to flagship phones in countless years (if ever).

KatzNK9

Are you happy or satisfied with the Pixel quality? If so, seems like a no-brainer to save money.

ThirstyGO

Pixel fold could be a whole page. Quirky AF, but it does get some things great. Been repaired twice and going in for a 3rd time since there is something wrong with video OIS. It drives me crazy a different way but leaves no doubt because when something breaks, it's unquestionably broken.

KatzNK9

Your opinion of the S24U seems set in stone. IMO, there is no chance I would overlook being that miserable with a device I use all day, every day. I would be rid of it as soon as I could manage it. No smartphone purchase should cause anyone that much distress. Credible sounding leaks regarding the August update indicate many of the common camera complaints will be significantly improved. Time will tell, I guess & I totally understand an early release of an expensive flagship disappointed many. This is not unique to the S24U or Samsung. With 7 years of promised updates & knowing the camera issues are software (& not hardware) related, I am content to wait it out. There are so many other reasons this device is far superior to other Androids. That's what I am banking on. If I end up being unhappy with it, I will unload it without hesitation, fanfare, or public complaint. Until after the August update, I think there is little point in comparisons to "prove" common complaints that have existed since pre-release. Once the updates are out & people have had a chance to put the device through its paces makes more sense. Complaining prior to that just cements your dissatisfaction & changes nothing. Again, JMO. Your dog is still gorgeous & I am sure you have some great photos of him/her.

ThirstyGO

Never said I was miserable. First it was a challenge to figure it out. Then in past month I've noticed it worse. Also said I had very good experience with past few sam devices. Also never said the rest of the phone isn't great. Since I don't take photos daily, and the rest works great, it wasn't a miserable existence living with the phone. After all, the biggest critics should be those that are let down (aka prior good experience). Haven't said it here, but the screen is best out there, bar none. Anti-glare isn't over hyped. If any other parts of the phone were similar to cameras, it would've been sold/torched long ago! And yes , I've taken good shots of him, even a few with s24u, like this one...but compared to Pixel 8 (between S23U and S24U phone) https://preview.redd.it/m6q4serol6bd1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5b9a8d0bd450ed46ac5aa0c064f89b7fe6cf6a2 , just a lot fewer great ones.

Try using the Pro mode and disable any sort of automatic optimizations. Takes some time to learn the stuff but the results are better and I like being the one in control.

I want a point and shoot camera, like if you want to be the one in control, which is not wrong, then just get a fuckin dslr camera. But for a phone? Taking professional pictures?! I want to capture something quickly and you're telling me I have to fiddle with all of em options there just to take a single shot. Your thinking is messed up.

Here's another side by side, but this time using 50mp 5x zoom, and pixel standard 5x zoom. I took my time with s24, steady, switched modes. Didn't do that with Pixel. I then cropped in both pictures the sam. Pixel wins again. I don't mind spending 5 or 10 seconds more to get a great image, but to waste more time and get a crappier shot?! https://preview.redd.it/jdzh60xfy4bd1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d4d6d2f6cbacbf4ef483402f09c081a6280747b

If the pixel is on the left, the left shot is terrible.

ThirstyGO

Left is s24u 50mp 5x

Vik0BG

Well then you prove a point.

Try downloading Camera Assistant if you haven't, might help a little.

Your thinking is messed up... Different opinions, which is fine. You can disable «optimizations» without going into Pro mode. I'd try that. If you want something more plug and play, that’s fine too, but for 2000$ CAD, I like having options.

ThirstyGO

Optimization on or off , barely a difference at most. Camera assistant doesn't improve anything

ThirstyGO

Pointless... If you read my post, I said s24u can take beautiful shots if you have patience. I simply won't use pro mode for every picture... Regarding point and shoot, I've tried every option in settings and camera assistant settings, and none worked.. some marginally improves, but boy is it ever inconsistent. Just when you think 'aha, I fixed it' you'll be more frustrated just a few moments later.
