You can backup your artwork (and other stuff) by going to Apps - Backup Manager. It looks like this create a .zip file in the BACKUP folder on the SD card, which you can copy to a computer. I imagine these are then restored by putting the .zip file(s) into the ARCHIVE folder on the updated SD card and then applying them via Apps - Archive Manager.
You did this all wrong. Russ said the stock OS is good enough. He'll make another video when there is a custom Firmware that is too good to ignore. This device is too popular not to have a follow up video 3 months later or something.
Awesome, I’ve been waiting for this! Cant wait to get Balatro up and running on my SP. Just a couple of possibly dumb questions first, though, because I’ve never actually used a Stock OS on one of these before changing it.
Will my saves and RetroArch settings be deleted? And will I need to change anything on my second SD card that has my games on it or should that continue to be a plug-and-play experience?
You're essentially reflashing your card so everything will be wiped off the first SD. Would back up save files. If you're already on muOS Beans, you can use the backup manager to backup your Retroarch settings.
Second SD is plug and play.
EDIT: Backup on an external USB stick.
So I backed up my stock system before moving to MuOs. I can speak to the saves but not the RA settings. The save folders are actually on the root under "saves_RA" and "states_RA". So using Castlevania as my example, my GBA saves in the saves folder folder are under this exact path
"F:\Anbernic Backup\saves_RA\Roms\GBA\mGBA\Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow (USA).srm"
For the states it would just be
"F:\Anbernic Backup\states_RA\Roms\GBA\mGBA\Castlevania - Aria of Sorrow (USA).state.auto"
Everything seems to be based on retroarch, so configs and saves should be transferable. That said, back up everything you don't want lost. The recommended install method of MuOS overwrites the whole SD card
I've found it pretty playable on the RGB30's 4.0" 720x720 screen; the Portmaster port does some UI rearranging to fit the square form factor. That said, it's RIGHT on the cusp, playing it on a screen with about 30% less viewing area and resolution does sound rough.
>Added RG28XX and RG35XX-SP support
>Added Lid mode support for RG35XX-SP
>Added Sleep and shutdown mode
>Added HDMI audio output
>Added HDMI resolution change
>Added visual options to remove `( ) [ ]` and replace `-` to `:` on content names
>Fixed global configuration corruption for those who like to press the reset button for funsies
>Fixed network connection to be a bit more stable
>Themes are now placed in SD1 (MUOS/theme/active) for changing on-the-fly or fixing errors easily
>Backup Manager and System Refresh have been merged to Task Toolkit
>Menu is now more responsive
>Visual indicators for volume and brightness are more accurate
>muOS is now device agnostic - Reliance on hardcoded pathing is reduced by 90%
>This will make it easier to support more devices in the future
>Updated RetroArch to 1.19.1 and multiple core updates
>Updated secret mode
>Updated supporter screen
Curious about "Added Lid mode support for RG35XX-SP" and "Added Sleep and shutdown mode." What would blow my mind nuggets would be if an OS with the ease-of-use and broad feature support of a muOS could act like MinUI does and, on shutting the lid, go to sleep, and if the device is left in sleep for over 120s or so, autosave and full shutdown. Failing that, if it could do like the stock OS does and sleep on lid close (leaving the power LED brightly lit so you don't forget that it's only in sleep, not actually shut down) and autosave-and-full-shutdown on holding the Power button, that would be almost as good.
Final pie-in-the-sky ask, but with "Fixed network connection to be a bit more stable," if it could do as OnionOS does on the MM+ and connect to Wi-Fi / Retroachievements BEFORE booting directly into the last game to save me backing out to the menu to connect to Retroachievements and going back in, that would be greeeeeaaat. I don't know if that's harder to do than it sounds or what, but OnionOS is the only CFW I know that does that and I would love something that seamless on a device that's not an underpowered vertical. (-:
For your first paragraph that's exactly how it works. Besides the full shutdown from holding the power button, not sure about that, but if you have it turn off after 5 minutes of sleep it won't really matter.
That is awesome to hear. Downloading it right now to give it a try, seems like their server might be a little slammed though because it's going at a crawl. (:
You can set it to turn off when closing the lid and then it jumps right back into the game loading an auto save after turning it on again via the On/Off button. However, you need to activate resume game in the muos and auto save and load in retro arch.
When you do this...does the Wi-Fi kick back in before retrorach attempts to load network related content such as Retro Achievements?
I remember I had that problem on OnionOS but the dev added a slight delay when resuming from sleep so it would wait for the WiFi signal first, then login.
Damn, wish I used a two card setup haha. Idk if I want to delete my stuff now including the scraping box art which took a while to do

You can get a quality sd off amazon for 15-30 bucks depending on capacity, you can even get them from brick and mortars for similar prices tbh.

Follow-up dumb question: where are my saves and RA settings located on the StockOS card? I haven’t been able to find any of that stuff on mine.
Can’t help you with that unfortunately. I immediately started using muOS after getting mine
Check the directory setting in RA, it might show it Like the other person, I've barely used stock so I don't know first hand

/MUOS/retroarch /MUOS/save
I’ve been wondering the same thing

Balatro is gonna be horrible on that screen if i had to guess

Appreciate it!
hbi2k is a unsung hero!
Was hoping for a self-updating mechanism with this one but nope. Gotta nuke the site from orbit again. Anyone know if that's on the roadmap?
The day after my unit dies T-T Of course
>muOS is now device agnostic Does this mean what I think it means?
MuOS is taking freshmen philosophy courses.
Sleep as in actual sleep or just screen off? I can't find more about that on the website.
You can set it to turn off when closing the lid and then it jumps right back into the game loading an auto save after turning it on again via the On/Off button. However, you need to activate resume game in the muos and auto save and load in retro arch.
Thank you. I got it downloaded and installed. We have a long flight tomorrow, so this was very good timing. Works well so far. 😁

I believe it's something like stock os, where the screen is off and it's in low power mode (but still draining like a phone, or DS/3DS)
You're right. It is. And there is a setting for auto off.
