Almost three years later I'm still blown away at how they restarted a match with a KO'd Matt Hardy *after* it had already been called off and managed to get a good chunk of fans to defend it.
"He was cleared by medical" oh word? Because he might have a fucking brain hemorrhage and I don't think you properly diagnosed all these potential TBI scenarios in the five minutes since he regained consciousness.
I said when I saw it on the other place, it’s not so much the botch, but how slow they move. That used to flow, whereas now you have two guys standing there for what feels like minutes as one guy slowly drops to all fours and the other trips over him
It's almost like the greats learn to adapt and adjust their style to keep them looking strong as they age.
Or you could just keep doing the same but slower and worse
Kane never had to adapt his style and his ring work never noticeably slipped imo. Kane wrestled the most matches in WWE history.
But Kane wrestled safely his whole career.
Kane had a top rope clothesline with a roll out, enziguri and used to exit the ring by flipping backwards over the top rope in his younger days and had cut that out by the end. Very marginal change but definitely made some kind of adjustment to extend his career. Granted he needed to change less because he was already a grounded power guy but everyone changes something, even mildly

I just think the reckless style is definitely going to be a factor. Like Kane wrestled hardcore matches, inferno matches, went through tables, won a MITB etc. But I don't remember having a bunch of reckless spots tbh.

To liken it to the NFL, it everyone is Tom Brady and can compensate for decline into their mid 40s. Look at Matt Ryan. The door slammed shut all at once and that was that. That's where the Hardy's are. That's where they've been since Jeff said he was injuring people on every Swanton.

Edge and Christian are aged and experienced enough to create a fitting match against the Hardys with some pretty basic moves, at least I hope. They would be a fitting team to retire the Hardyz, as both have some shared past and it would make the switch to AEW a little more worth it for Edge I guess maybe
Just have them come out, play to the crowd, run through a few greatest hits and count the 3 to send everyone home happy. Doesn't need to be a long or athletic match, just something fun that tries to hide Hardy's lack of mobility and gives people a final good memory.

Would've made more sense for Matt to clothesline both against the corner after the bald guy turned around so he'd have a few seconds to sell it while setting up for Jeff's spot.
I was thinking the same thing. The clothesline was more of a hug, so that looked like shit. But even if he landed it beautifully, why would Butcher be immobilized? Matt should have had the sense to gut kick him or something, so Butcher a) has something to sell and b) would be stooped over in a position that gave Jeff a landing spot that could theoretically do damage to two opponents.

AEW...I want you to succeed, and wrestling *needs* a viable alternative to the WWE. But this...this is just sad. Whatever kind of combination of PWG and Heroes of Wrestling that you're doing now, that's not the product that I, personally, want to see. I don't want to see untrained young folks allowed to injure themselves attempting crazy-ass spots that only work in video games, and I sure as shit don't want to see the broken down shells of veteran wrestlers sadly trying to play the hits and not being able to. This isn't wrestling, it's not entertainment, it's pathetic.
