As good as all of these wrestlers can be, there has only been one signing that actually caused the audience of AEW to grow significantly and they fired him. My only real curiosity about the debut though is how they'll manage to fuck it up from a production standpoint. Okada - *was* basically neutral, but honestly probably wouldn't suddenly start watching AEW just to check him out. However, involving the bucks in whatever he's got going on not only ensures I won't, it drastically lowers my estimation of him

I think Mercedes is a big deal for them. I honestly did not know Okada and Ospreay weren't already signed to AEW, probably because they appeared in AEW multiple times last year. Like, I know they're NJPW guys, but they wrestled on Dynamite and PPVs so I just assumed they already had a deal in place with AEW in America. To a lot of the wrestling world, Sasha Banks died on the way back to her home planet and hasn't appeared in a ring anywhere in years. So, at least she has a bit of pull.
I hate to say this, but Mercedes will probably make an impact for a week or two before Tiny gets bored of her and signs the next gamechanger. The moment the ratings fall below whatever arbitrary threshold he has, she is getting pushed down the card.
