Get them a gift card to the halfway station. They serve burgers and such, sure, but they also have some incredible healthy options. They source all of their ingredients as locally as possible, and use vinegar (and often produce) from chaparral farms less than a mile away. It’s a great experience, though it is a bit of a drive (about 25 minutes) from San Luis Obispo
I am absolutely crazy about their gochujang cauliflower.
They are in kind of a cool location that may be out of the way for some (no cell service!), but the patio/outdoor setup and that appetizer are so, so ridiculously good.
Yes! Its small, out near the airport. Open Thursday through Saturday. They post their menu and hours on their instagram! https://instagram.com/ebony_slo?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Third big sky. If your parents aren’t from the area this is a wonderful restaurant located in the downtown area which will allow them to wander around on the evening or afternoon they choose to dine out & make a day out of it. The ambiance is lovely but not pretentious and they have a local wine & beer selection if you’re into that. Oh, also outdoor seating which is great if the weather is cooperating The menu options are suited to those who are health conscious and they have seasonal options as they work hand in hand with local farms. My personal favorite option to order is the veggie platter, they can make the most obscure veg taste delicious! Definitely check them out online bigskycafe.com, been celebrating special occasions here for years. Hope your parents enjoy!
The best bang for your buck health food spot in SLO, in my opinion, is hands down Goddess Goods in MB. Honorable mention to the Korean Fried Cauliflower at Ziggy’s, or if you feel like splurging some, the cauliflower bites at Novo.
Here are a few of my favorites: Ynot Organic, Veg on the Edge, Bliss, Shine Cafe, The Hidden Kitchen
I second shine cafe in morro bay!

Julia's Juices in Grover Beach makes me so happy every time I go in. Super fresh.
Oh yes, I’d like to amend my list and add Julia’s. It might actually be the most fitting answer to OPs question
I second Julia's juices! Great family producing a bunch of healthy goods!
For vegan there is Bliss cafe... but for a more varied diet, with locally sourced organic produce, I would say that she would probably LOVE Big Sky.
Thank you!
Big Sky would a really memorable gift because it checks ALL the boxes... downtown.. great service... large variety... locally sourced.. healthy..
BIG SKY!! My favorite. Not vegetarian or vegan, but has those options. Local produce, super yummy.

Kitchen and Vine uses all organic and locally sourced products. They are a breakfast and lunch place.
Adding my vote for Shine. So delicious and close to the beach too!
Ziggy’s for the Win! On California St. Near Cal Poly.
Gosi
Ember is a fancier restaurant, it’s in Arroyo Grande
And they have a rotating menu
Luna Red or Novo!
Novo
i like tiki hut
She might also like spending some $ at the SLO Food Co-op. Vitamins, local organic produce, good cheese, local bread.
