I was just laughing so much at that this season. I look at it this way: If we’re going to be bad, we might as well be exceptionally bad so that at least it’s funny.
History will always remember the 2023-24 Oilers got to within a goal of a reverse sweep, but they better not forget they also lost to the 2023-24 Sharks.
Didn’t end up happening but it would have been kinda funny if a big part of the reason that the Oilers won the cup was because losing to San Jose was such an embarrassment that they had to fire their coach
I don’t know if it’s “goofy” but beating Edmonton for our first win felt like we were being trolled. “Hey we’re not good enough to win 20 games, but we’ll get our first win of the season against McCan’t win a cup”
Again, don’t know if it classifies as “goofy” but ending with the worst record AND still having top pick after the lotto felt unreal too.
Mine was planning a trip to Seattle with some friends to watch the last Sharks and Kraken game of the season. Bought a Kraken scarf because their unis rock and then watched the Sharks win.
