1 hour = 60 minutes 1 minute = 25 ft^3 of water 60 x 25 = 1500 ft^3 of water filled after 1 hour Total pool capacity volume = 2700 Percentage of pool filled = = (water filled in 1 hour)/(Total capacity of pool) = 1500/2700 x 100 = 56% OR C

secretive_thought

thanks a lott 🙏🙏

UrbanAgent423

You can also do very quick and rough numbers to get the answer 2700≈(25×100) 60 minutes is just a bit over half of 100 minutes So after 60 minutes the pool will be a bit over half full So 56% is the closest answer (Actual math people let me know if I just got really lucky or if this was good reasoning)

mambotomato

Yes, you're supposed to estimate it. It should take about fifteen seconds to solve this in your head.

Joenarh

First you can also find the percentage of the pool that is filled within a minute =(25/2700)*100 =0.9259% After since this is the percentage per a minute we are required to find for an hour 1 Hour = 60 minutes So using simple proportion If 1 minute = 0.9259% Then 60 minute = x (60/1)*0.9259% = 55.55% Approximately 56%

secretive_thought

Ahh thats so quick thanks

Kn1ghto

25 \* 60 = 1500 1500 is over half of 2700 but not close to 100% so C in 30 seconds

**To determine what percent of the pool will be filled after 1 hour**, we calculate the total volume of water that the hose will deliver in that time. Since the hose fills the pool at a rate of 25 ft³ per minute, after 1 hour (which is 60 minutes), the volume of water delivered is 25 ft³/minute x 60 minutes = 1500 ft³. **To find out what percent of the pool's total capacity this represents**, we take the volume filled (1500 ft³) and divide it by the total pool capacity (2700 ft³) and then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. Therefore, (1500 ft³ / 2700 ft³) x 100 = approximately 55.56 percent. **This means that after 1 hour, approximately 55.56% of the pool's capacity will be filled with water**.

25\*60 = 1,500. Then ig you just have to be able to approximate 15/27, since 27\*5 = 135, you know it'll be over 50%.

mambotomato

Why 27*5? You can just stop at 15/27

cleveranimal

True lmao, I'm so stupid. I automatically use the bus stop division method in my head when I get big numbers, so I didn't notice that was a simple division to approximate

Leading_Pea_4744

the answer is c. 25 ft perminute is 25x60 = 1500 1500 is 55.55555 or 56%

pujarteago1

(25*60)/2700=55.6

djarlin

in one hour you will have 25 × 60 = 1500 ft³ of water. and then you're asked to express that as a %age of the full pool capacity. so 1500/2700 = 0.56 or 56%

Ichor44

If the hose can fill it 25 ft³ per minute it will be 25 x 60 ft³ per hour that is 1500ft³ now take the percentage difference which comes to 55%

itachi307

2700/25= 108 min (to fill whole pool) (60/108) * 100 = 55.555%

Holiday_Instance_137

1. **Water Filled in 1 Hour**: * 1 hour = 60 minutes * 1 minute = 25 ft³ of water * So, in 1 hour, the pool fills up: * 60 minutes \* 25 ft³/minute = 1500 ft³ 2. **Total Pool Capacity Volume**: * Total pool capacity volume = 2700 ft³ 3. **Percentage of Pool Filled**: * To find the percentage of the pool filled after 1 hour: * (Water filled in 1 hour / Total capacity of pool) \* 100% * = (1500 ft³ / 2700 ft³) \* 100% * ≈ 55.56%

mykidlikesdinosaurs

That's 187 gallons per minute. That would have to be a 1.75" fire hose.

If only yesterdays test had more questions like this 😔
