Like bro, just get to the point. You ain’t gotta stretch out a three sentence explanation into like 2 hours

If you see a video titled something like "WHY THE MOUSE IS FAILING?!" there's a 99% chance it's some right wing nutjob and a 1% chance it's a smart creator who has legitimate concerns
Fr, the moment they say woke you can tell that their argument will boil down to “people and families hate gays, and other minority groups, they need to think about the traditional family values of Disney”. But then they disregard Disney television successfully put diversity into their shows and be wildly successful.
That's that Dateline true crime ish, nothing like blacking out the eyes or doing a color negative on an image to sell 'I'm finally about to describe something sinister, please don't flip to another YouTube channel yet'
The SunnyV2 effect, guy just goes for low hanging fruit and doesn’t offer any meaningful insight apart from what others have said and pointed out before him.
My least favorite is videos about "why universally hated movie is actually a masterpiece" (and it's usually because it's anti-capitalist in some sort of tangential way)
I think it’s on a case by base basis. Some of them may be a little egotistical, but plenty of others are just simple click bait for something they’re proud of.
I think OP is probably taking more issue with the title. Saying you rewrote a movie written by professional writers into an “Oscar winning movie” is kind of egotistical. I get that his thing is “fixing films” by rewriting them to fix common mistakes and stuff, but to imply that you’re so good at writing movies that it would win an Oscar if you wrote it just seems a bit pretentious.
I haven't watched the video yet. But given how the term "Oscar bait" is so common in film discussions, I had the impression of someone rewriting Wish to be even *worse* by just copying every "Oscar winner" film cliches with the most corny dialogue, over-the-top "angst" scenes and an "inspirational" message that isn't great when you actually think about it.
Just title it “how I would rewrite Wish” or something like that and let people form their own opinions on if it’s good or not. Don’t say for yourself “oh yeah, it’s the best” or else you look kind of egotistical.
Something that has always bothered me are people that enjoy 'fixing' other creative works. Like yeah Wish could really use your help, but
A) when it comes to creative critique, the FTFY approach is often more rage-inducing than helpful.
B) go write a fanfiction
C) go write your own original book or something if you're so convinced your new story is good enough to receive awards
Videoessays are fine and im ok if they say like "Rewriting 'X' into something watchable" or something like that but claiming your rewrite would win an oscar is just cocky.
As someone who knows how the development of the film went, I just have one thing to say towards these people.
They do not fucking care about artists or animators.
This dude's Kung Fu Panda 4 rewrites are off the charts arrogant, I write scripts for fun, I could write the greatest script ever written for any reason or absoloute dogshit and I wouldn't know the difference, since I usually try to stay relatively neutral after completing a script. But this dude does the bare minimum script doctoring and treats himself like he's the greatest man to ever touch a keyboard.
"me, a random youtuber can write a movie that matches the same quality as the grave of the fireflies,wall-e,toy story, and many more"
reminds me of that Obama meme
I get wanting to express your opinion. But sometimes it goes to far. Just say your opinion and be done with it. Why can't people just enjoy a fucking movie anymore?
Ok so instead of whoever the fuck was the main character, I made it a princess, and she's redeeming, sinners, it's smart I know, and she is dating an ange- wait a minute
Sometimes it’s fine, sometimes it’s not. It really depends on how good their script is. I really liked a video on someone rehashing the Star Wars sequels and TBOBF, but not so much on other films that I’ve seen from different people.
If they’re a writer and know what they’re doing then I don’t care, if randomguy44 makes some garbage suggestions then I’ll find it annoying because they don’t have the talent to back it up
Yeah titles like these just go to show how some of these internet critics really fancy themselves smarter and/or better than those they criticize.
Critical Drinker suddenly comes to mind; someone who tears down anything that he even *slightly* dislikes, acts superior about it, then when he actually directs a movie of his own, (which he's actually done) it's not even good, let alone better than everything he deems "bad writing."
I didn’t watch the whole thing, but his ideas were nothing new. I just cringed so much that I forgot most of what he said except for making Magnifico more like a strict dad
I mean not one of the ones I’ve heard of/seen ever brought up the whole apprentice position being vacant thing. I mean that’s lore you could make dude. If I were them, I’d imagine that the last apprentice saw the kings true colors so he got rid of him to protect his image or something.
I have a problem with them considering the academy will sometimes give an award to an undeserving winner, so saying “Oscar Winning Movie” isn’t raising the bar that high.
I honestly hate when people make unpopular opinion videos on movies that are actually good/great and that person is too blind to notice and prefer something that's actually complete utter shit....
I get where you're coming from, but please hear me out: I don't have a problem with it. After all, fanfiction and AUs have been a pretty big part of the very concept of modern fandom for years now, and people have managed to rewrite stories that they found mediocre or unsatisfying (or they simply wanted to experiment on). The channel's name escapes me, but I once watched a 2h30min video rewritting the final Game of Thrones seasons into a genuinely brilliant, cathartic and thematically consistent outcome. I guess people can be a tad bit pretentious, but idk, I think it's a pretty easy and valid way of reacting to fiction and it actually keeps the fearsome Fandom Discourse™ fresh and diverse.
Off topic but I hate videos with the title something like “how ____ is failing” or “how ___ destroyed his career”
Unless it’s objectively true in the latter case. Like Ye.
Fair but they’re just kind of repetitive imo
True, true.
"anyway, Ye didn't need to say he idolized Hitler, and he definitely didn't need to keep saying it, thank you for coming to my TED Talk"
Ye hasn't destroyed his career lol
He did for a little while then it kinda disappeared which is pretty weird by yk
Even If it is true, I stiil don't like them.

I read this in Turkey Tom's voice
This is too good, exactly like how the videos are like.
If you see a video titled something like "WHY THE MOUSE IS FAILING?!" there's a 99% chance it's some right wing nutjob and a 1% chance it's a smart creator who has legitimate concerns

Yeah is not like the first time Disney had an dark age there an whole era name after it
But if it's not 100% accurate, it's 50% accurate!
And they always have the black tape covering the eyes for some reason
That's that Dateline true crime ish, nothing like blacking out the eyes or doing a color negative on an image to sell 'I'm finally about to describe something sinister, please don't flip to another YouTube channel yet'
Not very big on Saberspark?
I don’t hate saberspark and his titles, besides I don’t watch his videos
The SunnyV2 effect, guy just goes for low hanging fruit and doesn’t offer any meaningful insight apart from what others have said and pointed out before him.
SunnyV2 and his irreparable damage to the video essay community
In 10 years we'll get video essays about why wish was actually a masterpiece of anti-capitalist satire
Can't wait!
There already is one.
We can't just let movies be bad anymore.
Phantom Menacing.
Don’t worry I’m sure the Megamind movie won’t have any praisers.
Just let it get buried in the peacock library and then hope it gets deleted when NBC needs a tax write-off
I feel like you got a bone to pick with a certain leftist
and i'll watch all 4 hours
I hate most of video essay titles, mostly the ___________________________________________ is dead/dying stuff
My least favorite is videos about "why universally hated movie is actually a masterpiece" (and it's usually because it's anti-capitalist in some sort of tangential way)
The thumbnail is hilarious
Why? Is creative writing a bad thing?
thats not the problem. the problem is them sucking their own dick
I think it’s on a case by base basis. Some of them may be a little egotistical, but plenty of others are just simple click bait for something they’re proud of.
Still pretentious since they think they are good enough writers to make an oscar winning movie
Again. I think that can just be sensational clickbait.
I did read what you said, and I still think it's pretentious. It can be both
Still pretentious
Sounds like you just have an issue with this guy's entire channel. What other kind of content do you expect "Film Fixer" to make?
I think OP is probably taking more issue with the title. Saying you rewrote a movie written by professional writers into an “Oscar winning movie” is kind of egotistical. I always ignore them, just always seem cocky
I saw one of these for kung fu panda 4
Usually it’s fine, but this one is ridiculous. Someone is a special little butterfly
Yeah, film snobs can get pretentious like that.
Something that has always bothered me are people that enjoy 'fixing' other creative works. How is Wish getting more hate than Strange World? Wish was so much better than that movie.
Well wish oot an Internet Hate bandwagon due to being an anniversary movie, where as strange world got forgotten about immediately!
Yeah, personally, I don’t think it’s half bad.
Winning an Oscar is not a sign of quality. The Oscar's are a complete joke.
"Oscar winning movie"? Well, props for confidence.
"me, a random youtuber can write a movie that matches the same quality as the grave of the fireflies,wall-e,toy story, and many more" reminds me of that Obama meme
I get wanting to express your opinion. But sometimes it goes to far. Just say your opinion and be done with it. Why can't people just enjoy a fucking movie anymore?
Yes... just yes.
I just hate videos about fictional characters that say "\_\_\_ sad origin story!" Jesus that mere title pisses me off.
Ok so instead of whoever the fuck was the main character, I made it a princess, and she's redeeming, sinners, it's smart I know, and she is dating an ange- wait a minute

I think critique where you offer your own ideas of what would be 'better' are superior to just ranting about stuff being shit.
I watched that video and I might hate it more than the original movie. This is why I refrained from watching videos about people rewriting wish.
What's going on in it? I'm guessing that he makes such revolutionary suggestions as "having a romance" and "having songs that don't suck"?
I didn’t watch the whole thing, but his ideas were nothing new. I just cringed so much that I forgot most of what he said except for making Magnifico more like a strict dad
Honestly I watched one of those fixing wish videos back when the movie came out and then I already knew I had seen every one of them! It's tiring...
I mean not one of the ones I’ve heard of/seen ever brought up the whole apprentice position being vacant thing. I mean that’s lore you could make dude. If I were them, I’d imagine that the last apprentice saw the kings true colors so he got rid of him to protect his image or something.
Good idea it would make him a lot more threatening!
I enjoy rewrites from time to time but titling it like this is wildly conceited lmao
Pretentious pricks.
Hi, welcome to the RWBY fandom, where this shit is EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!
That’s weird every other animated movie from last year was deleted from existence
Delete Wish itself make a movie about Walt. why wasn't that done!? I have no clue.
DONT HATE ON THE FILM FIXER😡😡😡😡
It's probably satire
I have a problem with them considering the academy will sometimes give an award to an undeserving winner, so saying “Oscar Winning Movie” isn’t raising the bar that high.
I’m really growing to hate those a lot because 9 times out of ten they’re just really annoyed.
I honestly hate when people make unpopular opinion videos on movies that are actually good/great and that person is too blind to notice and prefer something that's actually complete utter shit....

A lot of herbaceous on his part
? I have never seen a video essay with a title like thay
I hate post that has nothing to do with the topic of the sub
