This is true. A German ticket inspector once played a trick on me by asking for my ticket in English, and when I accidentally responded in English I was taken back to the POW camp.

I'm sitting in the train next to some Scottish fans right now and a few minutes ago there was an announcement that the train got lost because it was misdirected and is now on the wrong track😂 The train is already almost 2 hours late.
Edit: the train has finally arrived and was 4 hours late😅 I feel sorry for all the scots and all the other non german football fans who got screwed by the DB and got a good first impression of our public transport system.
Average Deutsche Bahn antics. Seen one once when the train was split in half partway through it's journey with one half going to (IIRC) Hamburg and one half to Bremen, but they got the 2 halves mixed up and didn't realise until like an hour after they had split
I was told the police would be called to remove me from the train if I didn't have a seat. In spite of the fact I did have a ticket. It was the last train between Hamburg and Berlin for the day. They literally put me out on the street with nowhere to go and no way of getting to Berlin. DB are the absolute worst.
I had actually booked a seat but they had cancelled the two previous trains and we had been moved from platform to platform about 6 times to finally get in this train. Then we were all told to get off. Disgraceful.
Me and my two mates just got on the train for fuck all because the conductor has absolutely loved us being here. He was amazed at how much we can drink and still behave lol
