Facebook marketplace sadly. Offerup is full of brokeass losers, I've listed a bunch and never sold anything; plenty of lowball BS though. Craigslist, the superior platform, can occasionally work but it's losing the battle.

If you want to really hate humanity, try listing a motorcycle for sale of OfferUp. It attracts the scummiest scum

kramjam13

"is your bike still for sell for $500?" "Yeah, you interested?" "I am. I'll give you $35 and I need you to bring it to my place in Yelm."

Trickycoolj

Yelm 😂😂😂 and they say that but actually live 15 min further out in the woods from Yelm.

JPhrog

Sold! Just Cash app me the $35 and I'll be on my way!

mothtoalamp

Is it really that necessary to re-make a Facebook account for this? I've used Craigslist to some success and would prefer to keep it that way if possible.

CorporateDroneStrike

I use marketplace and it’s pretty good, tbh. The UI is better

My now husband had my Christmas present stolen off his porch and we found it on OfferUp about 30 min later. It was really obvious because he had bought the last one of that color of an already uncommon item and it just so happened to turn up on OfferUp moments after being stolen. We messaged the person and asked how they found it because “I bought one for my GF for Christmas and it was just stolen off my porch” listing removed.

I got a used washing machine off Craigslist and the first one I looked at was from a guy who apparently just flips appliances and random junk and had a garage full of this. He wouldn’t negotiate on the price. I found one, eventually

saint_of_catastrophe

I was looking for patio furniture on facebook marketplace and saw someone selling a table and chairs that looked just like the ones they have in the park near my apartment! They're nice so I clicked. And then realized it was just a photo of one of the tables and chairs in the park by my apartment.

Just be prepared to get about a dozen inquiries that just say is it still available? Because that's a button someone can just push to generate that question and then never respond when you get back to them.  And then there are the scams where people try to trick you into giving them an account reset code, and all the people who will just come in with an offer of about 20% of your price.  Worst signal to noise ratio of any marketplace.

UniversityBig7720

That's why I always put something like: "What is your favorite _____" or "solve this problem" and put your answer in the subject line. It helps pare down bogus inquiries.

Astr0naughty

Oh I recall the Craigslist of my youth as a much more active place Just less traffic, less real offers than several years ago

Ill-Refrigerator7210

Whatcha sellin?

dregs4NED

What're yu boiying?

devon223

I've had plenty of hits on all sites, however it's always people trying to low ball so they can then flip it.

raexlouise13

I usually post on Facebook marketplace

kankurou

Check for local neighborhood BST groups too

Penguin-Balloon

Craigslist for me but only because I don’t have a Facebook account. Next Door has occasionally worked too

IStream2

I killed my FB account years ago so I stick with CL. I've had good luck with it.

glamorousdamage

Facebook Marketplace seems to be the most active nowadays. Craigslist is not as active as it once was, but it's still a good place to buy and sell locally.

SilverSheepherder641

I get a lot less scammers on FB marketplace because the buyers have actual accounts with their pictures and history.

Ordinary-Character-1

Market place and sometimes offerup

QuestionableDM

I bought an ergonomic chair from craigslist frim some guy down the street. Pretty awesome ngl.

Seattlesports72

I just moved and put a bunch of stuff on OfferUp and was getting responses and selling sometimes within a matter of minutes. Seems like there are a lot of people using OfferUp.

nigelmansell

I've experienced a lot of scam posts in FB marketplace. That place is turning into a cesspool so just be aware. Obviously joined date is a dead giveaway, but some accounts that are 10 + yo will try to scam you too.

Zikro

Some years ago I was having good success with Craigslist but it’s a burdensome UI. Recently couple years FB Marketplace seems easiest and most hits. Although the mobile browser support is shit. I’ve had 0 success with OfferUp. It’s absolutely the worst platform if you’re trying to get something back. Maybe for free it would be fine.

rexysaxman

If you stole it, OfferUp is good. Marketplace is, unfortunately, the best place these days, and it's still full of bots and lowballers. But it seems to have the most human activity.

Fuzzy-Problem-877

I have found OfferUp to be good.

Hothitron

Craigslist

ElegantMedicine1838

We use offer up. It works for electronics.

n0bfu

I’m not sure about buying in the city - but I’ve seen lots of people car window shopping to take what they want.
