Only about 30% of applicants are granted an interim. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Open-Building-7742

Thanks. It is great to know.

MarginalSadness

But the chances of being cleared in 2 months.....

hamachamanga

Slim but never 0! Just saying.

>their security department mentioned that they don't see any reason why I should be denied clearance. Cool, that means they've looked over your SF-86 and don't see anything DCSA would potentially view as a possible Red Flag, that would slow down an investigation or cause a declination. >They believe the denial is due to my being born in China, which necessitates additional investigation time. Seriously??? That right there is the ***opposite*** of the previous sentence... [Secret Clearance investigation processes are taking about 4 months](https://news.clearancejobs.com/2024/05/01/how-long-does-it-take-take-to-get-a-security-clearance-q2-2024-update) for ***AVERAGE*** subject submissions "Born in China" is NOT going to land you in the "average" category. Expect it to take longer.

Open-Building-7742

Yes, my understanding is the same -- anything China related is going to take significantly longer time.

Your employer will be contacted despite you not wanting them to be. We can't just take pay stubs from people; we have to go straight to the source to obtain your record information.

Hello /u/Open-Building-7742, You are asking about an interim clearance. Here are some things to be aware of: Interim clearances are NOT GUARANTEED, regardless of how clean or muddy your background is. This is the criteria utilized by DCSA for making an interim determination (as a note: this is only if your clearance is being adjudicated by DCSA. If you are processing through another agency, their criteria MAY vary.): 1. Favorable review of the SF-86 2. Favorable fingerprint check 3. Proof of U.S. citizenship 4. Favorable review of the local records, if applicable. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. It is very unlikely that your clearance is going to be done in 2 months. Even a squeaky clean investigation can take far longer than that.

Open-Building-7742

I feel the same, unless I hit the jack pot.

Pseudo_DirtyDan

2 months would be pushing it. I was adjudicated in 3 months after being denied interim as well. All of my red flags were 6+ years ago though so I reckon all of them were able to be mitigated by time. If you don't have anything else on your record other than being born in China, then you may be able to be adjudicated in 2. But that's a major if.

Ok-Theory-6348

Youre not alone dude. I went through this last November being from the Philippines and derived US citizen.

Open-Building-7742

Did you get your final clearance yet? And how long did it take fore you?

Ok-Theory-6348

Sadly no. I got laid off and my clearance investigation still in progress.
