LMNT! I swear by it and my doctor even recommends it. There is no sugar in it, which is nice. I think you can find variety packs on Amazon.

missuburbandecay

The lime ones pair well with a shot of tequila.

plantcorndogdelight

Just a heads up that Stevia, which is in LMNT, can be a trigger itself

redshorty22

I hate stevia. Thankfully, it is not it the unflavored version

ohwowgoodjob

Liquid IV! I drink two bottles of water with that powder everyday, two powerades, and a stupid amount of water (6+ bottles). I also work in construction though so I have to drink that or I’ll pass out.

Sillygoose0320

I love Liquid IV, that stuff got me through my pregnancy. I’m waiting for my insurance to approve things, so I haven’t started sema yet, but I’m stocking up again.

ScarlettWilkes

For migraines you probably want something with salt in it. I just read this article about migraines and salt and it makes so much sense to me given my life experience. I personally drink LMNT almost every day now. [https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnut.2024.1367570/full](https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fnut.2024.1367570/full)

ohshethrows

Interesting, thank you for sharing this! I don't eat a lot of prepared food so I have an inadvertently pretty low salt diet which hasn't been a real issue until now, makes sense!

ScarlettWilkes

Yeah, same. She also mentions in the article that salt that you drink is somehow different than salt ingested with food in the way it's processed. After reading that I've really upped my LMNT since migraines are the worst. Especially if you're exercising/sweating a lot make sure you get your salt. You can also just add 1/8 teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces of water if you don't want to bother with a packet or spend the money. I do that as well.

WildOmens

Btw Stanton is kind of a nut, I'd take all that with a (lol) grain of salt. The Facebook group for that protocol is wild. But yes, salt does help!

ScarlettWilkes

That Facebook group is intense, you aren't kidding.

I was on sema and oral minoxidil/spiro for hair loss at the same time. The hair loss medications are waterpills and it literally sucked all the remaining water I had it in me, out. +1 for liquid IV. Liquid IV worked for me. I did two or three a day. I would make sure to drink a bottle of water with liquid IV at night because that's when you don't really replace the water your body is using while you're sleeping leading people to wake up super dehydrated. And drinking the liquid iv with the water ensures that you aren't peeing all night because the water is binding to the electrolytes instead of straight out to the bladder. did I mention, liquid iv? lol

joaniebee86

Thanks, that’s really great info! Did you find the oral minoxidil helpful for your hair loss? I’m having hair loss issues…do you recommend anything?

yanderelul

If your hair starts thinning while on sema it could be that you're lacking protein. As cliche as it sounds, it's definitely true. If that's the case, and if you have issues eating like I did, you could drink protein drinks to help ease the gap. My hair started thinning way before sema. Sema exacerbated it. Oral minoxidil has been working amazing for me. The thing about it is that it's mainly used for lowering blood pressure. So if you losing weight lowers your blood pressure, or you're on blood pressure medication that's an interaction you should be aware of. There's topical minoxidil that also works well and doesn't seem to interfere with blood pressure. I used the Kirkland 5% and applied it with a qtip so my hair didn't get greasey. But, taking a pill is easier so I'm currently doing that.

joaniebee86

Thanks for the info. Yes, I know I didn’t get enough protein. I know better but I just couldn’t seem to get it. I’m currently on topical minoxidil and waiting to see if I have luck or move to trying it orally. I hate how it makes my hair feel and look so dirty 🙄.

Ok_Responsibility419

LMNT has more sodium but still tastes great (I’m salt sensitive taste-wise but love it)

residual_angst

ultima brand is my favorite - i order them on amazon. ever since i started to notice headaches, i’ve incorporated drinking a packet first thing in the morning and the headaches vanish!

Aromatic-Ganache-902

I like the LMNT that doesn't have any flavoring or stevia in it. It tastes like salt but if you dilute it enough, you can't tell. I hate stevia and monk fruit because they make me violently ill now that I'm on Wegovy. I can't eat or drink anything with those sugar substitutes in it.

redshorty22

Part of me always thought I was the only one out here buying the unflavored ones.

Aromatic-Ganache-902

LOL I hate sugar substitutes so yeah, I love the good old plain ones :D

ohshethrows

I ordered the plain ones too! I hate fake flavors

Moist-Plate9771

Propel electrolyte packets. They have many flavors and have 0g of sugar.

YellowSnake9

Pickle juice

Suspicious_Style_317

Aldi has some passable, calorie-free packets. They're a buck for a box of ten. The lemon-lime are relatively decent. Also heard of people using LMNT, which are at least a bit cheaper than liquid IV.

JustpartOftheterrain

Fellow migraine sufferer here. Several years ago during the covid lockdowns I did strict keto. And one of the things that can happen with keto is headaches due to low electrolytes. When I'd get them, I'd make what r/keto calls "Keto Ade" it's adding Morton's Lite Salt to your drink and sip slowly. It works because it's sodium and potassium. I only do this when I feel the headache starting. It does help, for me anyway.

joeynnj

Yeah you can do this, along with about 1/4-1/2 tsp of magnesium citrate (the liquid form). Add fresh lemon or lime juice and water. You can add whatever sweetener you like. It's a really great alternative to gatorade.

emeraldempath

Ultima Watermelon is my go to.

happygeaux_lucky

Coconut water, lime juice, ginger juice. and bloom green powder. Helps constipation and the headaches I get from dehydration. Really works for me. Oh and liquid IV, if I need something quick.

ohshethrows

Do you mix those together?

Repulsive-Variety554

Honestly, I’ve been buying water with electrolytes added in already since Gatorade and other sports drinks taste funny to me. I just buy the cheap great value brand from Walmart and it works pretty good!

JeanetteTheChipette

My favorite electrolyte drink for migraines is actually plain Pedialyte mixed with lime juice (I call it a Pedialyte margarita). I get nauseous, so I can’t tolerate artificial flavorings. I also try to have a teeny pinch of salt with every glass of water I have. I really like Pedialyte because it has zinc in it, which is important for proper hydration— many other sports drinks lack zinc. I have also tried Liquid IV (the immune support one has zinc actually!), which my husband likes. Semaglutide coupled with electrolytes has completely cleared my migraines these past 8 weeks. My migraines seemed to be linked to hunger, which sema fixed. I hope it can do the trick for you!

MikeScottPaperCo2

Ultima! I get it off Amazon, and buy the container to scoop out of so I don’t waste packaging from individual packets. No added sugar and great flavor options!

Low-Rabbit-9723

I like Ultima. The grape is yummy.

Pattyk999

I just use propel packets and they work great for me. Good luck!

LeggsBenedict69

Have you considered botox?

ohshethrows

I definitely don't want to take an imitrex every single day if I can't get these under control so that's definitely an option! I'm hoping that once my body gets more used to the semaglutide that these will dissipate but so far we are not off to a promising start!

LeggsBenedict69

I get botox for beauty purposes and don't have migranes.. at least in your position it might covered by insurance!

Opposite-Algae-3124

Ugh I hate imitrex. It makes me wanna fry every time I need one

ohshethrows

It works really well for me but I don't think it's good to take on a daily basis for days on end

Opposite-Algae-3124

Oops I meant cry 🤣 but good I’m glad it works for you. I really swear by the sugar free liquid iv!

ohshethrows

Lol, it does kind of make your brain feel a little fried! it made sense to me haha

Opposite-Algae-3124

Sugar free liquid IV. There’s a pack of them at Costco- half white peach half lemon lime. Love them !

joeynnj

GatorLyte. You can get the powder packets on Amazon. They have potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium - which many electrolyte drinks leave out. It's not sugar-free, but it has less sugar than a lot of the other sports drinks.

Imaginary_Kangaroo30

I like the Buoy liquid — I can add the drops to any beverage, very handy. If I need to pick up something at the drugstore, I like DripDrop. And I keep bottles of old school Gatorade around, the sugary kind, big help sometimes.

StacattoFire

I use LMNT electrolytes in plain or sparkling water, and coconut water to help me through migraines. For LMNT, the flavors are so great aren’t the standard strawberry and lemon lime. The mango haberno is delicious, as is the grapefruit salt and watermelon salt in sparkling water. One packet lasts me 2 servings when mixed with 16oz of liquid each. Good luck!

Traditional_Front637

Liquid IV has worked for me in the past. Gatorade, Powerade and Gatorade Electrolyte have so little electrolytes in them it's damn near a scam.

floridagirl509

I’ve tried a few different ones…LMNT is my go to. You can order from amazon or their website.

Caro-caro-55555

Same is happening with me!! So ironic because I have one right now. I get them maybe once or twice a week since starting, whereas I only got them about once a month before. Ask your doc for a triptan prescription! I like sumatriptan the best but there are other options. You take it right away when you feel it coming on. Besides that I really like propel zero and liquid IV. I hope you start feeling better!

ohshethrows

I already have sumatriptan and it’s saving me but I don’t want to take it every day!

Caro-caro-55555

Oh shoot ya that makes sense, sorry. Urgggg migraines are such a pain. I wish I had better advice to give 😢💕

Agile-Map-4906

I love HOIST. The peach mango is my favorite.

ohshethrows

Ooh never heard of this one!

Agile-Map-4906

I heard about it from a friend. Have never seen any ads. They supply to the military!

Necessary_Piglet3370

Cure is the best I’ve tried so many

ohshethrows

Never heard of this one! Thanks!

eyesoler

Suero! Nothing like it. Not as sweet as other electrolyte drinks, has a little tartness to it.

OilOk7906

Whatever is the cheapest that has no sugar or fake sweeteners. Usually on Amazon

IM_MIA22

Costco PH balanced water

StandardDoughnut121

I drink some coconut water with natural electrolytes and perk right up!

EnvironmentalCoast

My vote is for Liquid IV! Works like charm all the time.

Apprehensive_Fun_731

Sugar free version for me. Otherwise, I agree. It really helps.

Agreeable-Tea-8657

I follow Angela Stanton’s migraine protocol so I only use salt.

DigbyD5

Electrolyte pills from Amazon, cheap and work great.

Disastrous-Day4884

Redmonds salt. Trust me.

SadnessAndOreos

I’ve started using Drip Drop and have been loving it! Tastes good and seems to be cheaper than Liquid IV.
