Smile in Your Sleep
Found them after discovering Hawthorne Heights and they were label mates back then. So I just started going through all of the bands signed to Victory at that point. That was back in like 05 when I was like 12 or 13
Man I discovered so many bands through Victory back then. They really were stacked band wise. TBS, Thursday, Bayside, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, ADTR, Aiden. There’s probably more I’m forgetting too
My Heroine!
I was trying to find the biggest "emo" songs at the time, and this one was recommended on YouTube with the music video. And then one day in Miami I saw that they were going to have a concert and figured, hey, let me try them live. And it opened the flood gates! Became my favorite band ever since. Can't believe it's been about 20 years for me lol
My first Rescue listen true was bad. I did not like the album at all. I even stopped listening to their newer albums afterwards.
Now comes Corona and the new job policies. I have way to much time on my hand. So i decide to throw it back and retry all their "newer" stuff after shipwreck.
I listen to the album rescue after 10 years. I'm still bot convinced, but i do like a few songs. I began replaying those songs, and i am slowly falling in love with. I go back to the album and replay it. And i start falling in love with the whole album.
I didn't think they could ever outclass the older albums, but wow. Rescue holds so much power and meaning. It builds me up and breaks me down all at once. It's timeless music.
I first listened to Smashed into Pieces back in early March. A neighbor was listening to it outside on their speaker, and I was able to get Google assistant to figure out what the song was. It sounded intriguing through the walls, but when I first loaded up the song, I got a nice dose of the starting screams. I felt indifferent about the screaming at first, but now I love screaming in music and their music in general. They expanded my tastes, and they have thoroughly made my life better.
After I heard call it karma, I listened to their other songs and at first didn’t like the screaming. And then the next day I listened to them again and started liking it lol, funny how that works. And then I just started listening to more music with screaming.
Smile in your sleep, I remember getting Hawthorne heights album If only you were lonely and it came with a victory records dvd that had a bunch of music videos on it and finding them and absolutely loving it.
Lucky to have discovered them on their very first North American tour, so whatever they opened with that night! I loved Shel Silverstein as a kid and remember immediately loving their name. Bought When Broken is Easily Fixed after, one of the best purchases and still the best random weeknight show at a bowling alley I will ever go to.
A Midwestern State Of Emergency! The beginning of the MV plays at the end of the MV for We Own The Night by Dance Gavin Dance and that’s how i found it!
The Afterglow! It was on the Journeys December 2017 store playlist and I loved it and had to see about their other music. All these years later they are my favorite band.
Smile in Your Sleep!
Edit: the first “band” I was in wanted to play it. I’d just started drumming and was in 7th grade, it was one of the first hardcore songs I’d ever been exposed to, and now I’m a major fan!
Smile in your sleep.
I didn’t have heavy music tastes at the time and a friend sent me a collection that included Aiden - we sleep forever, avenged sevenfold - burn it down and Silverstein - smile in your sleep
And here we are almost 17 years later…
I couldn't tell you the first Silverstein song I heard. Probably Call it Karma or Smile in Your Sleep on an A Day to Remember Pandora station back in the day.
But I can tell you the song that caught my attention and made me a lifelong fan... Worlds Apart. I distinctly remember stopping what I was doing, looking at who/what was playing, and immediately creating a station based on Silverstein.
The Afterglow, I think I was listening to some AFI album on Spotify and when the album ended it started playing random songs and one of them was The Afterglow. Loved it and checked the whole Dead Reflection album and later all their other stuff as well, now Silverstein is one of my favourite bands of all time
Smile in your Sleep. My brother gave me his Victory Records DVD he got from Best Buy almost 20 years ago and I was hooked. It’s also how I got into Hawthorne Heights
Smashed into Pieces… It was love at first listen
Victory Records sampler?
No…just WBIF…came back from school break and roommate put it on. Melted my face
Same here! A friend gave me a really low quality version of the video on a floppy disc... like super low quality and compressed to hell lol.

Yo same. Back when the Victory records would come with a sampler cd 👌🏻 I got into ADTR relatively early due to this as well.

MY HEART BLEEDS NO MOAAARRRRR
This and Hear Me Out were the first two for me via my cousin off Limewire lol

American Dream Shipwreck in the Sand holds a very special place in my heart as a result
Shipwreck and Rescue are the best Silverstein albums, imo.
Shipwreck is my favorite, but TIHTWS might be their best. That or Dead Reflection.

Your sword vs my dagger, still one of my favorite songs of all time
"Still Dreaming" because the video played nonstop on PunchMuch! 🇨🇦
Wow huge flash back, completely forgot about this!!
It'll always live on in my mind and heart! 😂 Some days that would be all I would have on TV.
Either bleeds no more or Smashed into pieces! It was like 2003 or 4. I was 11 or 12 years old. And the rest is history.
New fan. The Afterglow from a Spotify playlist. Spotify real gifted me one of the greatest bands of all time. On my Mount Rushmore of bands
Nice! I found call it karma when I was making a playlist on Apple Music and I listened to one of the suggested songs back in December.

Same here!
If you could see into my soul. Back when MTV had music videos on tv
Smashed into pieces!
No idea, but Massachusetts was the first song i had on repeat back when I was getting into this music at like 13 years old
Smashed into Pieces.
My heroine, found it in art and liked it, eventually grew
Vices. I know, I know, I was late to the party. But that damn album changed my life, and it was all because of that catchy ass breakdown.

Bought When Broken is Easily Fixed after, one of the best purchases and still the best random weeknight show at a bowling alley I will ever go to.
Red Light Pledge. It was a bonus dvd that came along with the Silence In Black and White album. Instantly hooked.
Opened a MySpace page of a mutual friend and heard If You Could See Into My Soul. First song I have ever heard with screaming in it. I was hooked!
MY HEART BLEEDS NO MORE!!!!
A Midwestern State Of Emergency! The beginning of the MV plays at the end of the MV for We Own The Night by Dance Gavin Dance and that’s how i found it!
Bleed no more
Your Sword Vs My Dagger!

Smile In Your Sleep. A friend had it as their profile song on MySpace. It was love at first listen.
smile in your sleep
Broken Stars!
Your sword v. my dagger!
Smashed Into Pieces, I had it on a sample disc from one of the magazines. It also had like four other artists, including Attack Attack!
Smile in Your Sleep! Edit: the first “band” I was in wanted to play it. I’d just started drumming and was in 7th grade, it was one of the first hardcore songs I’d ever been exposed to, and now I’m a major fan!
Stay Posi from one of those Take Action compilations, which I thought was great and led me to getting into all of their stuff
Smile in your sleep. I think it was in 2008.
Smashed into pieces. But one of the first videos I've watched was Vices. I could play that a million times over. Just sticks with me.
Smile in your sleep
Giving Up. I believe it was on a Take Action compilation. Still one of my favorite songs.

American Dream
Smashed to Pieces on the old Victory Record ep.

Retrograde. Definitely was a great intro to their heavy / clean mix.
Smile in your Sleep. My brother gave me his Victory Records DVD he got from Best Buy almost 20 years ago and I was hooked. It’s also how I got into Hawthorne Heights
So long ago, it was probably bleeds no more
Smile in your sleep!
