Seems like they changed they made the spikes longer and more equal length. Looks a bit more like modern Sonic from the back. We’ve hit a weird point people, they’re making them longer Edit: no I am not complaining or something, not trying to do the usual shtick of “spike short so bad” or something, I was just pointing it out

AFAIK it's a remade model with a higher poly count but I may also be remembering it wrong. The materials are obviously different, but the model itself is also ever so slightly different IIRC.

I don't mind the Forces model, as long as it's animated properly. And anything is a step up from the Forces animation.

Honestly... I actually like it, it makes him look more spikey and kinda reminds me a little of CD Sonic. Plus it just matches his classic sprites more accurately.

To add onto the Sonic CD comparison, classic Sonic leans a lot into the "Cute" aesthetic, which just feels so out of character. Sonic was always supposed to be cool, especially in the Genesis days(bc console wars) Giving classic sonic long, rounded spikes was a huge part of that cutification So, I love that they reversed that decision here, it makes classic Sonic feel a lot more like the Genesis Sonic

Agreed. JP Classic Sonic was cute, but still looked cool. He was never a cutesy mascot character, his charm came from being a radical speedy hedgehog. The sharpness of this new design definitely conveys that cool Sonic much better.

I knew I wasn't crazy. I haven't touched Generations in months, but when I saw the new footage I felt like Classic Sonic looked different, then I chalked it up to "eh, maybe I'm misremembering"

I think it looks cooler. It gives him a more rebellious and cool look, which is what Sonic was always meant to be. He's a little to cute in the og model.

In the second comparison, I don't mind, it looks pretty nice, I feel, but the first one looks a bit off for me. I'm 90% sure that's just a bug. Someone on Twitter mentioned a malfunctioning giggle bone. We'll have to wait until the game releases and it's datamined to properly find out.
