Post on reddit just to show off while acting like you're asking for advice.
Ah, I see you already did that. I guess you could take some photos, but that would be too obvious.
Why did you assume it's a him? Women can't own nice gear? Misogynist much?
Did you misgender this person, and are you sure you used the correct pronoun?
See? I'm not nasty. I'm talented.
a friend of mine bought his first camera two days after his wife left him. a few years later he was doing album covers for some of todays biggest artists. the future is bright.
Holy crap, I literally just did that 4 weeks ago when my wife left. (It was more of an agreement that we don’t get along and aren’t in love, but her unexpectedly leaving made it hurt a little I guess)
Almost the exact next day I went to Best Buy, bought a ZV-E10, a gimbal, a Sony 50mm, a tripod, and then over the next month I’ve gotten pretty much everything I need for shooting 4k video and taking good enough quality pictures for a beginner that has always had a HUGE passion and dream for video and photography. More video definitely.
I’m also a huge entrepreneur at heart. So I’ve been learning the last month about videography and just practicing and trying to get out of the house and shoot and practice more, and I’ve watched tons of YouTube videos and taken notes and learned a lot. I’m a million times better now, but it had been admittedly hard while everyday just being home alone trying to stay positive not think about my wife to get out and shoot. So now I’m trying to do that more and for now I am just practicing in my apartment setting up little scenes and practicing product videos and cool lighting techniques and photography and whatever else I can come up with.
So I’ll keep yall updated. Wish me luck.
Keep going for sure. My buddy threw himself into it like you are. Went from not owning a camera to now owning top of the line gear, he just bought a new computer to edit faster and does some amazing work with lightroom. He's talked about video but I know how many hours he spends editing photos, I can't imagine him doing that with video. But who knows.
I got mine after one of the worst days of my life. I had told my mom that I had feeling extremely depressed and was suicidal after I had gotten in trouble at school and had been really struggling academically and socially during the year. My mom decided to show me how to use her old Canon Rebel XTI to try and help me take my mind off of everything that happened that day for the evening. It really helped me improve my mood for the day and while it didn’t become a career, it still is something that I enjoy doing from time to time.
Cheers🥂, congratulations on being in a position of spending 6k without thinking much.
But seriously, most impulse purchases end up unused. If you can return it, get your money back and invest it elsewhere, but if you’re already swimming in money, consider using it for an experience like an Everest expedition or something, or a photography course. Impulse purchases don’t help you learn the value of quality gear.
I have dreams of stealing this thing out of the store and getting away with it because I can’t afford it in real life… that is how much I think about this damn lens in reality 🤦🏽♂️
Love it... I started my journey into photography with the push of Reddit and my friend, today my girlfriend. I have more low budget gear and i have a lot of fun with it. Aii, an 85mm for portraits, 14mm for landscape and milky way and i am waiting for my tamron 70-300 to arrive.
First, i think you should discover your favourite style: portrait, street photography, landscape photography, nature/animal, astro photography etc...
Then, surround yourself with those spaces, it will come naturally.
And of course, lots of YouTube to learn.
Have fun buddy!
I could not find a comfortable way to hold this lens with the A7R4 when the foot was attached. Mens medium sized hands seem a tad too large.
I took the foot off and screwed in an older version of the ‘Custom SLR C-Loop Mini Camera Strap Mount’ into the now exposed 1/4-20 hole. This makes the rig slightly lighter and more comfortable to handle.
Aside from that, the hype/cost around this lens is justified. Crushes indoor activities and low light mornings.
Once everything switches to the A9iii body size, things will get better. I always have a dent in my finger after a long weekend of shooting my R3 where my finger is wedged between the grip and the lens
I did the same with my Sigma FP L. Bought this same camera a month ago. Although I bought the 24-70 an 85 and a flash kit. (I do portrait and weddings).
The 70-200 is an amazing lens. I shoot video and the OS is insane, makes handheld shots at 200mm useable on the FX6. It might also be the sharpest lens I own.
You could brag in a few other subs, that's pretty much it. Other than that, go shoot charity events for free or something, if you want to actually feel better. GAS, much like having actual gas, evaporates quickly.
God forbid you get annoyed with your house lol.
But ok its all well and good to splash out on Highend gear, although you can't pay for experience, knowledge of expertise, most comes with practice.
Sounds like you'll be doing ' Another thing ' very soon
What did you get annoyed at and how can I replicate it

The only real comment
How to make the most out of it? Get out and use it.
This is beautiful. When I get annoyed my wife tells me to drink water 😭😭
Damn I wish I could afford to burn money like this on a whim when I get annoyed Idk, maybe go on a hike or something?
Beautiful!! Go bird watching, go to race tracks, go watch football, shooot a friend’s wedding, that combo is a dream come true ☺️☺️
Agreed, shooting birds taught me a lot, and I'd owned my camera for 2y already.
Fellow vlogger I see
I heard op uses it as facetime webcam
The aperture ring must help him a lot with center stage

At least he put them together and out of the box
With the cringey “I did a thing” saying no less

He does have a point. But if he wears a hat no one will notice.

No, you are truly nasty. Just writing to look for a fight. Fuck off.

We’ll be here to help you wordsmith your Kijiji post in a year.

I’m waiting to be that annoyed soon yes😂
What the hell annoyed you to the point of dropping 6k on gear? Can you send that annoyance my way lol
Donate it to me 😁

I want it. Might be my next yolo purchase. Just got the 100-400 and love it. I’m sure that one is just as awesome
Yawn.
Getting tired of these stupid posts, nobody cares about your slow 7 fps camera and lens, sorry?
That was a question?
No, I think it was a statement? Maybe it was rhetorical? I'll shut up now?
Lmfao 7fps 😂
Rent it. Make money.

I have r3 with cage and I put the foot at 9 o'clock and use it like a handle
I love that lens … it’s my go to as it’s so versatile
Nice job!
Good for you!! 😄 nice choice!! 👏
Great choices. Practice panning at race cars
I mean, what happened to your old camera if u don't mind me asking 👀
Man I hope it takes a LOT to get you annoyed otherwise therapy is probably cheaper lol
Best investment you ever made
I, also, hate money.
I did the same with my Sigma FP L. Bought this same camera a month ago. Although I bought the 24-70 an 85 and a flash kit. (I do portrait and weddings).
Jesus
More lens and camera box pics please. Everyone here loves that kind of stuff!
Got the 70-200 a while ago and want to bring it everywhere but damn it takes some effort:) Get some amazing photos tho. Have fun
Man I need to get annoyed

I got mad at work once and bought a $200 battery grip. I thought that was impulsive. You must have been really annoyed.
The lens look really HUGE
Nice and congratulations on the new setup. Try shooting some people or animals
Welcome to the club.

This lens is just amazing! One life to live, go out and take many amazing photos with it!
Can you get annoyed and buy me one? 😆
I bought the same lense for my a7ii, bur then I got annoyed with the focus on that camera so I bought a a7iv 😂
Tell me your ways master
You mounted lens hood upside down... ;) joke aside, great combo, I own the same, good luck with nice captures !
Good combo
You need another lens
I wish I had that type of capital to get annoyed at things lol
My wallet is tearing up
Great combo. I have the A7R5 (best camera I’ve ever used) and will prob get the 70-200 next month. You should get the 50mm f1.2 next! Incredible lens.
God forbid you get annoyed with your house lol. But ok its all well and good to splash out on Highend gear, although you can't pay for experience, knowledge of expertise, most comes with practice. Sounds like you'll be doing ' Another thing ' very soon
I too need to get annoyed.
Go snap pictures of chicks
Go shoot at Arches National Park or Yosemite!!
Start the worlds first vlog with a 70-200.
