Probably a few reasons why: 1: it wouldn’t really add anything to this version of the film, and probably confuse less knowledgeable viewers. 2: This version of Peter seems to draw heavily from the Raimi-verse, where MJ was the only real love interest. 3: Peter is 37 in this film, Gwen is about 16. Putting any sort of romantic context there isn’t gonna go down well, even if it’s just a nod to OG Gwen for the fans.

All valid points but I’d argue her death was what propelled Green Goblin to fame, beforehand Doc Ock was the more well known villain. Also if they wanted a Raimi Peter so bad Idu why they didn’t cast Tobey, they said in interviews this is a catch all Peter yet all I hear is he is basically Raimi Peter?

I honestly also got dissapointed , altough i dont know how they could possibly fit that part in the story without making it feel forced or too long and overdone becuse then i would feel like there is too much in one film.

I was wondering the same thing myself since, as the movie specifically shows, older Spidey is in fact the Spidey from Earth-616, aka the main Marvel canon universe, making him Spider-Man "Prime". (Just from the future.) Gwen absolutely should have been recognized, especially when they point out that she herself had her own Peter Parker, that she tragically lost similar to the way Peter lost his Gwen. (Meaning she also should have had a "gasp" moment at some point when she recognized Peter.) And just for reference, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man officially comes from Earth-96283.

Nope.

Truly? That is honestly a big bummer, Gwen’s death was such an iconic moment and a huge development to Peter’s character. Real sad this Peter doesn’t even remember Gwen after seeing her again. I mean you can still have Peter have a relationship with MJ AND have Gwen exist like the comics did...

It's not that he doesnt remember her, its just to this version of peter they never even met. They could have easily wrote a "I knew a gwe ....but that was a long time ago" line. But meh.

Isn't the 36-year-old Peter in Into The Spiderverse from E-616? If so, then he should have definitely known Gwen?

thatnerdynerd

The movie used those as just throw backs/Easter eggs. They still did their own thing .
