Ethernet cable helps if you don't have it connected. That said splatoon 3 has had communication issues connecting to the servers since launch. It still happens to me every 5-10 matches. Hopefully it's fixed up soon. Hopefully you get it worked out as well, it shouldn't happen to you everytime
I get it every other match. And every other, other match I get the “host disconnected” error so.. around 70% of my games I don’t get to play. This only came after the update. Hopefully it gets solved.
I use ethernet and still got comm error repeatedly (worse since last update). in 30 minutes, I just manage to get 4 turf wars, the rest are spent waiting for comm error or the game got cancelled because someone dc very early.
Maybe restart the switch? I know it may be an annoying answer but whenever the wifi on my switch is not the same as on my other devices i restart it and it normally works again.
From my experience recently the Nintendo online has taken a small dive in effectiveness, went from next to no disconnects to not being able to get into a match

I LOVED Splatoon 2 so much I put like 2k hours in it. After dealing with these connection errors in Splatoon 3 for like 100 hours of gameplay, I just dropped the game. It's literally unplayable for me. I refuse to play until they figure out how to fix this.

The updates ruin everything for me. Always make it so bad after. I uninstall the game and reinstall it to help. If I get 2 DC in a row I close out the game and start it up again. It seems to help.

I find I get it more connected to LAN then when I'm on wifi
