That’s so bad it’s good.
I have no idea what’s going on with the thing in the corner/fridge/oven/burner and grill combo. Is it a small spinner in the corner? Too small for a twin tub.
And that ‘galleried landing’! I could stick all my Christmas stuff there.
It’s a ‘yes’ from me.
> That’s so bad it’s good.
You know, you've hit the nail on its head. I've seen a lot of stuff that is just awful, terrible, no good, want to set fire to it bad. But this... almost comes out on the side of good. At least it's consistent. Would be a great backdrop for a period movie, absolutely no extra staging required.
Amazing time capsule of a house. Hard to believe there was a time where we would have though that looked nice.
Even so there are a couple of standout features. The 'galleried landing' in pictures 9, 10 and 36. They took the trouble to put a door in to access it but its probably less than a meter square.
Also I really want to know more about that oven. Even in the 70s when I was a kid I remember them looking more modern than that.
Nans house bingo ! Candlewick bedspread, China Shire horses, different carpet in every room. Added bonus, all Nans, Nans brown bedroom furniture because it’s too good to replace! Kitchen carpet is awesome bonus too, 1978 launch quickly followed by withdrawal because most people couldn’t keep it clean.
Someone let English Heritage or National Trust know. Needs to be kept as is as a monument to the 70’s and hints of Abigail’s Party. Brilliant in its own chinsy way.
I'm just trying to get my head around the downstairs layout with the inner hallway. Seems like a huge amount of wasted space. That and the weird balcony above the stairs. What would you even use that for?
The balcony above the stairs is so you can get to the window.
The inner hallway adjoins the garage. It's a 60s build so it was expected that you'd drive you car in the garage, enter via the inner hallway, hang up your coat and hat, change into your slippers etc.
If you are looking for a RETRO - **Un-touched 1960's-1970's** DETACHED property situated on a CORNER PLOT. The property is like stepping back in time but offers a great size family home
If I had a film production company I'd get this for any sitcoms or dramas set in the 70s.
I'd probably also go out of business for stupid decisions like buying a whole house just in case I have filming to do.
I really love this. It’s clear the owner is house proud and it’s just been looked after. It’s full of love and pride and delight and I am so here for it
What would this be worth nicely refurbished? One of the problems I find with the housing market these days is that houses like this that need gutting and redoing from scratch aren't priced low enough to reflect the amount of work that it needs. I've seen lots like this where the asking price is only about £20k below what a nicely refurbed one is so just doesn't make sense for the amount of time money and effort you'd have to put into it.
Yeah I do all my own work too but I'd still want to know that there's a decent return in it for all the effort it would require otherwise I might as well buy one ready done and save myself the hassle
It’s someone tidy pride and joy but hasn’t been touched since the early 70s.
They've left all that furniture in there, but taken out the pedestal ashtrays and the huge cigarette lighter on the coffee table.
A bit busy, decor wise, but I'm sure we'll see it in greys and wood flooring soon enough....

I love every inch of this house. It’s an immaculate time capsule.
> It’s an immaculate time capsule. Absolutely
Omg.... My eyes 😭😭😭
:)
This one has it all. Hay Wain on the wall, flamenco dancer in the bedroom and Old Spice on the bedside table. Cushty!

The oven I would imagine was top end for the time.

Brown was the way to go then. That and dark orange!
It was everywhere! And turquoise and red.
:)
My grandparents had same kitchen carpet in the 80s, looking at the photo and my feet felt it.
Eek!

> Abigail’s Party A brilliant play. Alison Steadman still plays that character.

Does it come with a bowl to put my keys in?
leave them on the telephone table.
I’m having flashbacks
:)
This is a brilliant reminder of how we all used to live. Love it
:)
This has to be AI generated! I'm looking for the artifacts. Seriously? A rotary dial phone by the door and a CRT TV in the lounge? And that oven!
The Clydesdale horses....
I don't think its been touched since way back when.
Jesus Christ, I remember my grandma having those carpets back in the 80s...
It's like a 70s time warp. What is the appliance on the left in the kitchen!?
Built in oven. Hob is further along under the extractor.

You could buy that and run it as a 1960's home museum
Absolutely
I love the bathroom floor.
This is what our house was like when we bought it, but they’d updated the bathroom in the 80s to a white suite. We’re slowly updating it as we go.
> but they’d updated the bathroom in the 80s to a white suite No avocado then!
Thankfully not! I remember my Nana having avocado though and her neighbour had plum!
[Maybe Elvis pink!](https://retrorenovation.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/mamie-eisenhower-pink-bathroom-gettysburg-500x332.jpg)
Oh wow. My other Nana had those fluffy seat covers!! I’d totally forgotten about them! And those dolls that covered the loo roll. Memory unlocked!
And the matching floor ones.

It'd be a plan for sure.
That's just Birmingham. That is the fashion there.
ha ha
I adore it!!!!
:)
They clearly decided that the 70s was their peak, and refused to move on in any way
:)

Well cared for.
They need to donate the entire contents to the Black Country Living Museum, it would fit well with their existing properties!
It certainly would. not sure it would stand being dismantled tho.
Their house is a museum where people come to see ‘em
Could be a money spinner!
The 1970s telephoned - they want their house back.
:)
Picture 10 & 36 really sell it!
Not the pipe just in front of the window. 😭
:)

There is that.
Who ever thought this looked good, in any time period... Like what the fucking fuck?
Times, fashion and taste change :)
wow that's cheap is it a rough area?
