If it’s Nakajima, not that big. If it’s Miyahara, he’s big enough to pass for main roster WWE. In general though they’ve definitely got some heavyweights.
You're not gonna believe who it is :

Old school wrestling used to have people get work injured in American territories so they could go work Japan
Granted people didn’t know what was happening in Japan back then
And another thing that happened was: drop a title on a taped studio show, taped a few weeks in advance. But still defend the title on house shows & other live events. That's a little tricker though, as some fans do travel from city to city, if it's in the same region.
I hope it's Kento just to see the response of westerners seeing him for the first time
"He only does 3 moves? All his matches are the same? He's a face who plays dirty, argues with refs, and is completely full of himself?" Yeah correct on all 3 counts he fucking rules
I personally have always preferred Kento over Okada as a performer/Ace; I just love how animated and charismatic Kento is with his movement and facial expressions, really makes him stick out compared to someone like Okada who is much more reserved/stoic as a whole.
I agree im a full blown mark for the guy. Kento shows up anywhere and immediately becomes the main character. Him showing up in Noah, slapping Nakajima in the face unprovoked, being the most over guy on a different company's show, putting on the match of the year, then just leaving was an all-time Ace performance
Miyahara has been my pick for best wrestler for like 6 years now. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just a mark for him because he gets so much less exposure (especially internationally) but he just doesn’t miss. Every big match delivers.
The biggest knock on Miyahara has been that some of his matches are “formulaic”, but I contend that at the end of the day every Ace (top guy) wrestler, whether it’s in Japan, Mexico, or the States, wrestles “their match” because the crowd pays to see that (examples: Okada will always do the dropkick and have the last minutes of his match be a back and forth; Misawa would always use the elbow to make his comeback; Cena will always use the five moves of doom just as Hogan would “Hulk up”).
Kento is a self proclaimed Hulk Hogan fan and it is so obvious in his mannerisms, color scheme and even in how he speaks. He has that hulkster tone to his voice.
AJPW have historically been the more America friendly promotion out of it and NJPW. Not to say that NJPW haven't had western partners. But AJPW in particular was NWA faithful and so on. And Muto obviously flew in a lot of ex WWF guys.
Hell, I forgot that Christopher Daniels worked a AJPW match last year.
I also think any Ace, whether in Japan or America, is put in a spot of having to frequently have a good match in the main event to send the crowd home happy no matter who they face. The Kento formula will always produce a good match but his best matches are with guys who understand that it's basically the base for them to elevate it to a great match.
Like, you wanna have a "5 star match?" Kento will get you 4, you need to get the last one yourself. That's why kentos best matches are with guys who put their own spin on the formula like Nomura, Aoyagi, Nakajima, etc
Well said; also, the reason most guys were picked for that “Ace” position is they are able to work with everybody and smoothly implement their opponents style of match with their own.
And throw in some of his mentor Kensuke Sasaki’s moves/mannerisms in there as well (despite Nakajima being Kensuke’s “son” he really doesn’t wrestle like him at all, and I’ve always thought Miyahara/Nakajima mirrored Shiozaki/KENTA in that KENTA doesn’t wrestle like Kobashi did at all; Nakajima wrestles a lot more similar style to Akira Hokuto, imo).
> "He only does 3 moves? All his matches are the same? He's a face who plays dirty, argues with refs, and is completely full of himself?"

Japan is interesting right now. Between Tanahasi becoming part of the corporate team at NJPW, the alliance with other companies in Japan, and this, I wonder if there was something to set this off

Anyone that believes that needs to watch more HUSTLE.
Wait, that was *the* Akebono? The same who faced Big Show at WM21? Wow.
EDIT: [His Wiki page says](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akebono_Tar%C5%8D)
>Akebono debuted in Hustle in 2007, being the storyline son of Yinling and The Great Muta. Under the name Monster Bono, **Akebono was introduced being unrealistically born from a giant egg** before easily defeating RG in his first bout.
I like that Yingling was impregnated by Muta with the mist, but the giant egg is the unrealistic part of the whole thing. Too bad he ended up an orphan though.
Kinya was a molester so fuck him, and Akiyama later on took blame for the Endo situation for not preparing/communicating to the DDT guys about NOAH offense.
I mean, this is known dickhead Nakajima we’re talking about here. The dude who has made enemies all over Japan because he has always worked way too stiff. Hell, Miyahara and Nakajima seem to just have settled a 15 year grudge that came about because Nakajima used to bully Miyahara and work overly stiff with him when they were training under Sasaki.
His character is a cocky dickhead martial artist.
He works stiff, but so do many fan favorites over the years (Low Ki, Inoki, Shibata, Hashimoto, Kawada, Kenoh, Dr. Death, Yone, Samoa Joe and Bryan Danielson in their younger RoH days, Brock, hell Japanese wrestling as a whole has been built on stiff workers since the start). It's only an issue when people get hurt, and in a 20 year career there's been 3 cases of someone being hurt by Nakajima *for real.* Long time NOAH viewers know about the trope where Nakajima "knocks out" his upcoming opponent at press conferences, which was flipped on it's head this year when it was Miyahara who dropped him heading into One Night Dream.
The only people within wrestling who have openly mentioned their dislike of Nakajima are Kento and Masa Kitamiya (who also, like Nakajima, despise each other dating back to their days under Sasaki). Anyone else who may hate him aren't open about it. The only people I could find on many Google searches who hate him otherwise are western fans who compare him to Nia Jax and hyperfixate on the very few incidents because of what happened to Endo (which should not have happened anyway).

I try to stay out of the AEW vs WWE nonsense but I am curious what’s Tony’s reaction to this. He seems really protective over his relationship with NJPW.
Edit: Wrong company nevermind
Lots of people in this comment section need to actually watch the video. They’re going “Dragunov! Dijak! Breakker!” when they specifically mention the phrases “Submission Assassin” and “Killer Catch Style” meaning it’s probably Drew Gulak or Charlie Dempsey
Given how no Jaoanese outlets are reporting on this, I severely doubt his is the case and the most it probably will be is someone like Thatcher or Hideki Suzuki who has had a WWE spell in the past. If it is someone from NXT, it'll probably be Gulak.
Between Nakamura going to NOAH, Karl Anderson wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom, AJ appearing on IMPACT, and now this, WWE has been tiptoeing through the Forbidden Door and I love it
The year of 2023 in professional wrestling maybe the craziest year ever in wrestling lmao. This is pretty cool to see, I been watching ajpw for the last 6 months and they've had a resurgence and even outsold noah in Koruken hall, hope this extends to main roster eventually for more exciting potential matchups.
I think things like this is actually better for the wrasslin’ industry as a whole. Being completely insular just helps a single company. No matter how big WWE can be, it won’t encompass all of pro-wrestling. Not just the TV product but management styles. Some people do better under some bosses than others.

Fukuda said that it’s a submission specialist, “Killer Catch style” wrestler. Could be Drew Gulak.
Gulak or Dempsey fit the bill.
![gif](giphy|69AL3cRW9S6eNX7c8Y|downsized) Regal already making moves.
It could be Axiom since he's a submission specialist.
i think he is too short to challenge tbh
Are the guys in AJPW big fellas or something?
Yes, All Japan has a very clear distinction in size between there heavyweight and junior heavyweights, even compared to say other companies like NOAH
Tall Japan.
If it’s Nakajima, not that big. If it’s Miyahara, he’s big enough to pass for main roster WWE. In general though they’ve definitely got some heavyweights.
They have specific height requirements when taking on dojo tryouts. They definitely care about it
It'll be Kento, who's a nice 6'1" with some beef.
Nah the triple crown champ at the minute katsuhiko nakajima isn't a bad lad at all.
[This Katsuhiko Nakajima?](https://youtu.be/TioqInn3fJw?si=nxmr5feZGM_barQh)
Gulak, Axiom, or Dempsey.

Japan is in need of some lexual healing
Lex offenders going wild
I think the preferred term is “The Lexually Active”.
The annual gathering of his countless fans shall be called.... The Lexicon. 🤘
Lexual Deviants rise up
Randy Orton about to be a part of another group with Lexis and create the Lexual Predators
We're all lexually repressed.
Or unless Luger has trademarked "Lex Express"...
InteLexuals
Lex a mania running wild
When you get that feeling You need...... Lexual healing Lex u up Let's wrestle tonight🎵🎶🎵🎶
Dude would have one of the best/funniest theme songs on the roster.
I hope they spread some lexually transmitted infections
Lmfao now I'm all in for him having a sampled version of Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing.
Lex get it on
they are going through a population crisis, so it wouldn't hurt
AJPW getting Lexual is the real Forbidden Door
"Thanks for giving me that Gaijin spotlight, baybeeee!"
I came here to make this joke lol would be funniest option possible.
Can’t wait for nakajima to kick him so hard his testes explode all over karouken hall

Legit thought it was an anime title, “A Phone Call from WWE to All Japan Pro-Wrestling President Fukuda!”
"I Got Hit By A Car And Died And Got Reincarnated As All Japan Pro Wrestling President Fukuda!"
Damn, Panic! At the Disco song titles are getting crazy
It's time to play, "Panic! At the Disco title or Action Bronson lyric?"
Was it Dudley’s Car?
It was Rikishi. No one’s sure who he did it for though.
The people. He did it...for the people.
i'd watch it. obviously light novel adaptation
"Whoop That Trick" Fukuda: \*pikachu face\*
Triple Crown Von Wagner
Hey Meltzer! Take that stupid polo off, we’re in the Tokyo Dome!
Guess what, Jan 3 in Japan is Tuesday in the States
Wednesday
Its gonna be CUM TUESDAY somewhere at least
My favorite part is when Von Wagner said “It’s Von Wagner time” and won the triple crown in 15 seconds
Cum Tuesday, we're gonna be in Japan. One day too late, though. It's on a Wednesday.
It's gonna be Corbin. Going "Burn the Ship" Corbin to "Japan" Corbin.
this is all a long ploy to figure out how deport him
I thought that's why they're doing the France ppv? Take Corbin over there and just leave him.
Only if it's Bum Ass Corbin. I wanna see how the Japanese audience reacts to that lol.
One can dream that it’s Ilja Dragunov; imagine Ilja vs either Miyahara or Nakajima?
Dragunov vs Nakajima would leave no survivors tbh.
Nakajima keeps trying to kill Ilja with his kicks, but Ilja just keeps screaming in his face to keep it coming.
Ilja finally pops that vein on the side of his head
\*Cue Ciampa's old theme\*
Didn't he get his neck kayfabe broken this Thursday? Not sure how that would work storyline-wise.
True, but in Japan, necks CANT be broken.
The ibushi rule
Tell that to Hiromu Takahashi
Didn't that happen in the US?
Now that you‘re saying this, I believe it happened at the G1 Special in San Fran
Yep at the Cow Palace
True enough, but Hiromu did end up “walking it off” more or less (unlike poor Hayabusa RIP).
Old school wrestling used to have people get work injured in American territories so they could go work Japan Granted people didn’t know what was happening in Japan back then
Some fans travel internationally to watch shows. Old school carnies exposing the business! /smh
They were working under the premise that anybody who had a passport in 1982 probably knew it was all a work?

injured but I don't think broken they could do something like call it a stinger

I do indeed remember reading that; also love the fact that Yuma Aoyagi has used a “Rock Bottom” style Uranage against Kento as a statement.
AJPW have historically been the more America friendly promotion out of it and NJPW. Not to say that NJPW haven't had western partners. But AJPW in particular was NWA faithful and so on. Yeah I think the Hokuto/Naka comparison lands pretty true.

Kento is a massive Hulk Hogan fan and his character is his own spin on the Hogan character.
Best of the Best!
I believe he said Submission Assassin and Killer Catch Style. Who dat? Dempsey maybe?
gulak or dempsey probably
gonna start my "Trick williams next AJPW Triple Crown Champion" agenda pronto!
I like it!
Awww yeah man!!
If Trick wrestled Yuma Anzai they better have a sequence where they both go for their flying knees at the same time and do a double KO spot.
Otto, sono torikku
How do you say “Whoop that Trick!” In Japanese?
What did I just watch lol
??? You just watched absolute cinema, friend!
AJPW's president and the joshis he pulled by having no rizz.

And Noah's recent Monday Magic/Monday Night NOAH shows
DDT.
Sure but the Triple Crown champion we are talking about knocked out a 2 guys last year after shooting on them.
He misplaced a kick on Kinya Okada. Idk about Endo, just gave him the hand of God but he def wasn't shooting in one of those.

If this isn't a comedy bit. Bron Breakker I would assume is the guy. If this is the start of a working relationship using the NXT brand and All Japan what a huge deal. Are we going to see something like a 4 month long excursion of Yuma Anzai in All Japan or Brogan Finlay excursion in All Japan.
Imagine how crazy the women in America would get over Rising HAYATO?
Too much star power for NXT they'd have to put the belt on him.

Sounds like Baron Corbin about to win the crown
Sounds interesting and fun in my humble opinion.
I think it's Gulak, Corbin, or Dijak. A main Roster talent that they aren't afraid will injure themselves.
Andre Chase is taking AJPW to school
Flashbacks to those "WWE is buying All Japan" rumors.
Can't flashback to something that didn't exist in the first place. It was NOAH
I’m calling Bron with Big Poppa Pump in his corner at this show
cool
Lots of people in this comment section need to actually watch the video. They’re going “Dragunov! Dijak! Breakker!” when they specifically mention the phrases “Submission Assassin” and “Killer Catch Style” meaning it’s probably Drew Gulak or Charlie Dempsey
I never saw a ajpw show this is a good excuse
Oh shit this is why Ilja got injured isn’t it
Von Wagner ?
Tyler Bate!
Given how no Jaoanese outlets are reporting on this, I severely doubt his is the case and the most it probably will be is someone like Thatcher or Hideki Suzuki who has had a WWE spell in the past. If it is someone from NXT, it'll probably be Gulak.
I mean this in a good way. ![gif](giphy|CxZwfzM5LqqpcdghbT)
I just thought of a name I haven't seen mentioned in this thread and that's Noam Dar. He's definitely a couple steps up from one of Gulak's crew
so, considering it's on news sites you'd think WWE would notice, And they'd deny it if it wasn't true
2m viewers on AJPW video via X past 12 hours! Congrats!
FWIW, I think this is a bit. We'll see.
Please do not be the start of NXT Japan.
NXT: ALL JAPAN
No. Sorry, forgot Haitch's pronunciation. Noah.
This is such a layered joke
Can't take credit. I took that joke from Cultaholic's Tom Campbell.
Between Nakamura going to NOAH, Karl Anderson wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom, AJ appearing on IMPACT, and now this, WWE has been tiptoeing through the Forbidden Door and I love it
Until WWE confirms it I think this is just a gag.
Wouldn’t they say WWE instead of NXT if it was a gag?
Man, Trips and HBK are just out there doing whatever they want, and in the best possible of ways too.
I hope it’s Boa, Veer or Lash Legend. That would be peak.
Veer is Coming.
Send Bron Breakker on a 6 month excursion to Japan and he’ll come back 10x better.
Thinking this is also a way to have Nakajima appear in NXT, possibly at the Stand and Deliver show during Mania weekend.
Nakajima is a freelancer, he can do whatever he wants.
There’s so many ways they could’ve announced this but I’m glad they chose this route lol.

If this is WWE creaking open the forbidden door...I'm here for it. The money and moments that could be made would be wild.
Japan did just kind of start a union...strange if something happened to sour it.
well, news sites are treating it like it's real
Now this is shit I love to see. No buying companies, just working together to better the business.
