I think this boom era actually started at Wrestlemania 38 when Cody returned and Roman unified the titles, but it would never be as big as it is now without the Sami stuff.

Swantonbombthreat

cody debuting 100% is why we’re at where we’re at today.

ThaSipah

It happened before Sami, but he played his role incredibly well.

RichardKingBITW

I agree that Sami Zayn helped. But the way this is worded it's almost like he's giving Sami the sole credit for it. When it's the combination of the work the Bloodline had been doing up to that point and the addition of Sami to give it a new dynamic and dimension that really did it. Wrestling is its hottest when you have a really big babyface to go up against the big bad heel. Roman established himself as the big bad heel(one of the greatest heels ever in my opinion) ever since he came back in 2020 and it was just a matter of time until they found that big babyface to put him against with. Ended up being both Sami that was already in the company but working as a heel and Cody who wasn't in the company when this reign started but endend up joining back at WM38. Both also doing some of the best babyface work in years.

alltheworsttoyou

It didn't happen right away (just like it didn't happen right away after Austin 3:16), but this successful era was paved when Roman came back and turned heel. He's the biggest reason why WM 38 marked the end of a decade+ decline in popularity and was involved, in some way, in every accelerator thereafter. Sami deserves major credit for his role as a supporting player though. The Bloodline and Roman's run couldn't have happened the way it did without him.

jamalmac3

So everyone get credit but Roman?? Smh lol

hashtagdion

Have fans and critics ever gone to such great lengths to deny proper accolades for the top guy before? Sami is fine, but Roman was the top box office attraction in wrestling long before and long after Sami's inclusion in the storyline.

Pyotr_WrangeI

Sami Zayn kicked off the Women's Revolution

RepresentativeFly565

The sami saga doesn't work without roman. Would it play out and have nearly as much fan interest if sami was in imperium instead?

zeromied0

Well I’m glad he’s doing well after he left One Direction

Muskarat

Best moment of the entire bloodline was “I don’t give a damn what the Tribal Chief says”, so yes the Sami Uce saga was definitely up there

hunterflair

Always find this weird. It took loads of things. Sami, 100%. Roman being awesome in his role. Same with the Usos. Cody returning. Austin being on that show.  You can’t just get to wwe’s recent levels off one thing. Otherwise people wouldn’t stay around to watch the rest of the show.

AllezLesPrimrose

I mean.. he was a huge part of taking it to the next level but people were responding to the Bloodline presentation before Sami, certainly before he became a focus of the story. Looking back it absolutely was Mania 38 with Cody returning and Roman winning both belts that started the ball rolling for this run.

Stumblebee

It feels a little weird to say out loud, but I can see the argument. Without the Honorary Uce, the Bloodline story probably hits a massive lull. They got like 8 months of a legitimately engaging story and got two bonafide main eventers (Jay and Sami) off the ground.

RepresentativeFly565

The bloodlines first year was fantastic especially the initial roman and Jey stuff. This sami saga doesn't work without the right characters (bloodline) to play off of Roman pretty much elevated everyone within the bloodline

Joelredditsjoel

The only WWE I have watched in the last two years was because of the Sami main event against Roman. (To get ahead of it, this is me agreeing with you)

Chelseablue1896

So we're just going to ignore the brilliance of the Roman-Jey story? That is what got quite a few fans back into the product i'd imagine.

YOUgotGRIZZEDon

Paul and Roman are responsible for kicking off the boom. Cody's return and treatment hooked the smarks. The whole cast of bloodline, sami, kevin, cody made it more mainstream. The Rock's return and heel character have put the product over the top right now. I was at Raw in Memphis and haven't seen it that packed since Stone Cold whooped Mr. Redacted's ass at St. Valentines Day Massacre.

JacoBee93

Rofl no.

RKO360

I would say that this boom era started once Cody made his return to WWE while Sami did helped made The Bloodline reached its peak when he became Honorary Uce. Sami was already a star thanks to his NXT days, but he became a much bigger star thanks to his Bloodline run as Honorary Uce while re-established himself as a main eventer. This boom era has been good so far with the returns of Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and Randy Orton, The Bloodline drama, Jade Cargill made her debut, Drew McIntyre's entertaining heel run, the likes of LA Knight, Dominik Mysterio, Gunther and Liv Morgan being top-tier players, Triple H being Head of Creative and Hollywood Rock 2.0.

EcoterroristThot

without him The Bloodline has mostly been bad

ptd163

I'm so annoyed by fans and critics alike giving everyone Roman has worked with credit for this new boom instead of Roman himself. He is the one constant. We can all argue over when it started, but the simple fact is it doesn't without Roman.

thatguyad

"Boom" era. The fuck is that?

PrinceNana128

Bloodline with Zayn was must see TV. I 100% agree with this take.

Kenjiko3011

Sami Uso is definitely the highest peak of Bloodline story. Everything after that is just the aftermath and we're basically waiting for the ending of this story.

AllezLesPrimrose

Hombre, this Rock stuff is very clearly the peak in both the story itself and in popular interest in it

ChuckKiddman

Cody is great and the top babyface of the company but as an underdog against the Bloodline I really felt more passion for Sami winning

[deleted]

Sami in the bloodline was absolutely amazing, no denying that. But this dude is ignoring the leader of the group and center of the storylines during this boom period lol.

gorgeoff

Personally, WM 38 was my last stand when it came to WWE. After the Belair/Lynch match at the prior year's SummerSlam, I went cold turkey until Royal Rumble... and it sucked. I thought that year's Wrestlemania was it for me as a viewer as it was Undertaker's Hall of Fame and that seemed like a good ending for me, as well. That was until I saw the Sami Zayn Johnny Knoxville match. It was so silly and over the top, I couldn't help but feel absolute joy watching it. That match along with the Kevin Owen Stone Cold non-match match were so perfectly crafted along with the rest of the card really stepping up, it was like the WWE got back on track after antagonizing the audience for far too long.

SpaceGooV

Zayn was definitely part of it. Credit goes to Jey and Roman tho. The feud they had was the beginning of the bloodline stuff and was/is over with the fans.

cahillpm

They squandered Sami's popularity in a very specific WWE-way. He was the most over guy in the company while Cody was hurt. He should have won his match in Montreal versus Roman with a short run with the title ala Mick Foley. He won the tag titles at Mania. Then he just kind of tumbled back down the card and he is going to lose to Gunther this year. We are legitimately at the point where it's questionable whether he should re-sign with the company when his deal is up at the end of this year.

jx3ga

I agree. WWE is hurting right now because they didn’t let Sami win in Montreal. There may be no coming back from that. If Sami leaves, it could be the end of WWE.
