Cody/Randy/KO vs the new Bloodline at MITB. Randy turns on Cody after the match to set up a title match at Summerslam. Wouldn't be surprised if the a Randy vs Cody program carries WWE programming for months in a trilogy of matches.

Cody was unconscious at one point. In a normal match, AJ would have won there.
I kind of want Randy to win the title in the first match for a bit of shock value before Cody wins it back. Cody doesn’t need a long continuous reign like Roman and it wouldn’t impact his story with Rock at all.
Finn, Drew and Chad Gable are all acceptable men’s MITB winners IMHO. Makes sense for all of them to cash in on the WHC. Finn makes sense to cash in on Priest, Chad makes sense to cash in on Gunther. Drew makes sense generally.
I would say LA Knight but he’s likely winning the US title from Logan Paul and he doesn’t need the briefcase for that
I'm thinking Roman "saves" Cody at MITB because he doesn't want Solo to take control of the Bloodline by beating Cody. That sets up Solo vs. Roman for SummerSlam.
Somehow we get to Cody vs. Orton at some point. Maybe a random RKO as Cody celebrates. This was always my dream feud for champ Cody. Randy has to go full sadistic heel though.
To be fair one of the smackdown biggest problem is their lack of top heel believable enough to be Cody's challenger
Aside from AJ and probably Solo, there's no other legit top heel for Cody. Shinsuke is nowhere to be seen ever since the draft, Carmelo hayes isn't ready yet. Logan is part timer that only appear once every 2 months. on the other hand all top heels such as Gunther, Judgement day and Drew all on RAW. so makes Orton turn heel is good solution to adress this matter
If you actually watched he was looking at Cody's arm, which he grabbed and raised, while saying to him he was gonna raise his arm. Was nothing to do with looking at the belt

With the old legacy connection this feud makes sense with a potential built in feud
