Without a doubt, i give him credit for trying to make the moment but damn, even the moves he pulled during his match, mae young did them better at her 90 year old age
I’m amazed that with me only having a passing interest in WWE after being a fanatic from the 80’s to about 2014, it amazes me by how well WWE still engages with its audience and puts on a good show, over two nights no less. I had to see Stone Cold on night one, and now I’m watching Edge and AJ Styles put on a clinic. Still has a “Wrestlemania” hype and feel even though I don’t know who half the talent is.
Yeah someone was sayin he had some metal on his jacket and maybe when he threw up his hands he hit himself. I think thats more likely since its only on one side.
Heroes return was good but the best part was whenever the fans went crazy to see him back like I never thought that Cody Rhodes with get cheered on again
I highly enjoyed Cody Rhodes returning and obviously found the stone cold moments absolutely amazing I cannot wait for tonight I was genuinely surprised by how great the show was because of how uninvested I've been recently but so far WrestleMania 38 has been able to completely capture my attention again and the flip spot drew did was dope af
Cody seth started really sloppy and slow picked up towards the end. No question tho Bianca Vs Becky was match of the night and Steve and ko had a great match all considering. I thoroughly enjoyed day 1
I thought Drew's flip was amazing but they seemed a little awkward working together tbh and I do agree with you but I did enjoy the show as a whole which I'm pleasantly surprised by lol🤙🏻
Last night was just another example of why WWE is light years beyond any other company.
What a fucking show. Presentation, match quality, moments I’ll remember for years, moments that had me feeling like a little kid.. bring on tonight
Couldn’t agree less- it was a great show but week to week? Raw is light years worse than any other wrestling program. It unwatchable. They’ve failed to make any stars beyond Roman, that’s why they brought in Stone Cold, Ronda, Cody, Logan Paul, Johnny Knoxville, and a part timing Brock Lesnar. WWE has money to put on a good show when need to, but to say they’re light years ahead of any other wrestling company is just absurd
Unwatchable? 1.9 million people last week disagree with you mate..
Brock isn’t even part time anymore, he’s on the show every week, and booked for the next 3 PPVs. Cody? Can’t complain about them singing a star who was a free agent.
Austin? Nostalgia. Celebrities? Not sure if you knew they WrestleMania has always had celebrities perform..
How long of a timeframe are we talking here?
Attitude era? Well, obviously yeah but no company will hit those heights with the technology now to watch when it suits the viewer.
Anything else you want to throw at the wall here, to see if it sticks?
Lmao compared to last years go home show, the year before that oh and every year before that. Their ratings have declined year over year since the end of the attitude era.
yeah... no shit...
I 'm not sure if this is going to be a surprise to you but the Nielsen TV ratings are worse for any TV program now than they ever used to be due to streaming and youtube... Most young people don't even have cable anymore so to keep this stupid "TV RATINGS" argument up to rank wrestling is insanely stupid... people watch on HULU, PEACOCK, YOUTUBE.. like fuck... use your brain.
Wrestlemania 38 was extremely mainstream and made wrestling feel cool again.. the show and the presentation was AMAZING. I am not saying that week by week the programming is great.. but my god.. wrestlemania 38 was a GREAT TIME TO BE A WRESTLING FAN
I loved it. I truly loved it..... oh and dont use the Nielsen ratings to rank TV programming today dumb fuck.
So first you said RAW is unwatchable.. then I mentioned the 1.9 million people who watched RAW last week, and didn’t even throw in the steady 2.2 million who watch Smackdown every week.. now your argument is that those numbers aren’t good enough..?
It’s cute when AEW fans try.. much like Tony Khan 🤡
I’m saying that those are very low numbers for what Raw once was and that the product is terrible now and their main demographic is adults over 55, according to demographic data. This means WWE audience is shrinking while AEW is growing. But I mean it’s unwatchable on a personal opinion. Sure they can put on a good show now and then but they are not leagues above other companies as far as show quality. There are tons of indies I’d rather watch than anything WWE is producing. Idk why you’re hyper defensive about this.
How many times am I going to have to watch someone who got over 30 years ago be the main event of PPVs now.
How many stellar wrestlers have WWE let go for one pop with Cody Rhodes?
Not saying AEW/NJPW is perfect, nothing is, but there’s way less bloat in their product.
Stellar wrestlers like Jericho, Big Show, Billy Gunn, Dustin Rhodes, Hardyz, Mark Henry, William Regal, or Sting? And then you trash on a company featuring someone who got over 30 years ago? AEW is going to end up like WCW which isn't surprising since they rely on Arn and Tully to produce. Watch next month on Dynamite for the return of the Nasty Boyz managed by Jimmy Hart or run in by Greg Valentine. The only thing missing is Hogan calling the shots.
beautiful reply,,, thank you for letting this man have it. Wrestlemania 38 was one hell of a show IMO.. wrestling is hot right now and some people will just be haters no matter what.
Everyone you mentioned is regularly on tv or involved, Austin was brought in for a one off. So we’re all the celebrities. It’s not the age that matters, it’s the use of star power to pop ratings as opposed to long term booking. Was Austin at Mania awesome? Yes. But it was really random, there was no build aside from a month of Kevin Owens shitting on Texas. We didn’t even know Austin was having a match til the night of. WWE basically pulled a Saudi Arabia super card and randomly brought in Austin cause no other match on the card could’ve main evented
The Stone Cold match brought a smile to my face, felt like it was the attitude era again. Great match! Stone Cold kept looking younger by each movement. Glad the new generation got to witness what we were all so lucking to see
austin 3:16
true legend
i give it a 9/10
i would give him that extra +1 if he gave crawled on all fours and cussed in KOs face
what a show the two put on tho
Even though it was 6 hours with the pre show, I really liked the pacing, I wasnt really sitting there looking at the time.
I personally like my wrestling more serious and the first night seemed more wrestling centric and less stupid shit than in years past.
Dammit Vince, just when I think I'm out you know how to keep me Sports Entertained. Even though I prefer AEW, Cody getting his moment was awesome and I hope he continues this momentum to new heights. Stone Cold giving us what we all thought was impossible was fantastic. Bianca and Becky subverted my expectations in the best way possible. Only match I didn't care much for was Charlotte v Ronda but it wasn't like it was awful. Honestly, it was a stupendous event
I still don't like a glorified beer commercial being the night's main event instead of a pro wrestling match with the top title on the line. But I guess it is fine since fans are happy with it.
I know. But in this case, with those blatant beer can shots at the end of the match, it is a bit too much as the main event for me. It would be fine if the match was placed in the middle of the event.
THIS IS WHAT WRESTLEMANIA ISS ALL ABOUT.... ITS NOT ALWAYS 5 STAR MATCHES..... THEY HAD A 5 STAR MATCH.... CODY VS SETH..... CHARLOTTE VS RONDA WAS PRETTY SOLID... BECKEY VS BELAIR WAS ALSO A 4 STAR..... YEAH A FILLER MATCH BUT IT WAS JUST WHAT THEY CALLED... ALMOST STUPENDOUS... ITS ONLY 50% IF TEY MANAGED TO PULL OT NIGHT 2 IT WILL BE ONE OF THE TOP 5 WRESTLEMANIA
I never saw the Boogz match, but if you see the type of shit he pulls in his homegym, I would've thought that a combined Jimmy and Jey would've been lite weight.
Don't think it was the combined weight as much as the way Jimmy (Jey?) jumped up on him. Instead of landing flush, he landed on an angle, and his weight offset Boogs' balance to the extent that his knee couldn't take it.
How can night two even come close to this? Rock gotta show up now and challenge roman. Imagine buying tix early this year and missing out on stone cold and night one? Something has to balance it out
Wrestlemania 14 had a scsa beat hbk and in my adolescent mind I would never forgive Austin. I thought Shawn’s last match would be a loss against Austin and the following night get dumped by HHH
I never cheered for Austin. Here we are years later and I’m watching wrestlemania cheering on Austin in the main event of wrestlemania. Wild.
Frankly : I think the commentary team is what is killing Wrestlemania / WWE at the moment
The Comms didn’t sell Cody’s entrance or Stone Cold’s return to the epic proportions they could have .
It was a solid Wrestlemania for sure but not absolute elite
That is absolutely true and I also hate the camera work. I understand HD caneras expose a lot more but watching matches from 15-20 years ago and there were so many fewer cuts, it was so much better to watch. Who cares if I see things miss their mark if it's actually enjoyable to watch?
Seemed like a really unbalanced first night. Highs of Becky/Bianca and Rollins/Rhodes and Austin/Owens, but then a lot of lows like the tag titles, McIntyre/Corbin, Charlotte/Ronda's ending, the New Day getting bumped off the show entirely, and holy fucking fuck, SO MANY GODDAMN REPEATED COMMERCIALS. So much fucking filler that I could barely stand watching it.
Not sure how anyone could consider this a "great WrestleMania" but hey, to each his/her own, I guess?
EDIT: I guess people don't like the truth, do they? :P And yes, I did entirely forget the Mysterios tag match, but that's because I didn't watch it, didn't give a fuck about it beforehand, and hate Logan Paul, so hence, totally forgot. With that match included, which I heard was decent and Paul did better than he should have? I'd probably put it in the middle, not great but not bad, so still, the overall show quality was "okay" with half bad and half good, if I had to summarize it as such.
I thought it was good but I don't get how they can go over on time having to bump New Day while the first match was cut so short due to injury to the point they had to create new video content on the fly to fill space. I hate to speculate but I wonder if that match got bumped for other reasons (last minute illness or injury?)
Good speculation, because yeah, if that match wasn't cut short, this show would have went well past midnight. Did they not realize their commercials alone would take up like... what... an hour or more? If it wasn't that much, it certainly FELT like it, so what the hell happened? There's no way they would cut The New Day entirely from WM, would they? Hopefully it's just bumped to Night 2, especially after what happened to Big E :(
People are feeding off the somewhat unpredictable energy of the thing. Not every angle has been good, not every build has been good, the Royal Rumble part of the leadup was wretched even, but WWE has still had a certain special something going on when building up this mania that's made it feel more unpredictable and grandiose (maybe because there's no thunderdome episodes on the way to it?). The fact that there was dumb shit on the show or around the show kind of gets forgiven in that light.
Y'know, I had my doubts about a short talk show followed by a stunner to main event night one, but then those madlads made Austin and Owens wrestle a good 20min match with Austin taking bumps alongside Owens.
Stupendous.
I have to say that was a great night of wrestling - every match was good, shame about the injury in the first but even that was pretty seemless.
I can't believe that I'm sat here, 5am in the morning in April 2022 and I've just seen the Stone Cold Stunner in anger.
Boogs was going for one of his strong man tricks, trying to carry both Usos on his shoulders and he buckled under the weight. He held onto his knee. Until the announcement I though it was a kayfabe injury but I guess it was real.
Absolutely heartbreaking. Mans works so hard and his knee gives out on him in the biggest spot of his entire life, a moment hes probably dreamed about since he was a young lad.
He had to have been looking so forward to that spot, and to have it go so awfully wrong.
Prayers for a healthy recovery Boogs. Itll be a long one, but hopefully a successful one
I'm successfully sports entertained
Sometimes you just give people what they wanted and it's just fine. The only things that were a lil fucky were Boogs injury and the Flair finish. Everything else was exactly as it should be
Wrestling can be simple
It would fit the bill of their relentless path to artificially inflating Charlotte's title reign number. She can't get to 17 if she doesn't drop it 16 times
i said already, but you take the women's matches + Seth/Cody,
Austin/KO, put them next to the best of tomorrow night, and this is a really solid Mania all around given tomorrow night doesn't completely suck lol.
Except you've now made people sit through 8 or more hours to get to it. That drags the experience down. They'd do much better to just have Wrestlemania be 1 night and all gold.
Put that mediocre but still better than average stuff on the Go-home show and the Raw after mania.
Did you see Smackdown last night? It was an absolute joke.
I was against it at first but I embrace it now. Also being a fan of other companies as well, it’s nice that one weekend a year can be dedicated to quality wrestling. WWE makes mistakes like not having the US or Intercontinental titles defended, but at the end of the day I like having 4 hours on Saturday and Sunday to digest than 7 straight.
I’m at a buddy’s house for a WM party, but tomorrow I can chill with my wife and dogs at my house and watch the second half in a more peaceful environment haha
I can’t wait for the 24 episode on this. I want to see Vince and Austin backstage after the match. I’m sure they’re both emotional right now.
20 years later and, for 1 match, we were back in the Austin era.
Did anyone else feel it was a bit too PG? Not enough cussing /middle fingers
KO was almost better on the mic than Steve Austin. If KO was in the attitude era, he’d have been over af
That was a perfect first night - Becky and Bianca edge out the match of night from Cody and Seth. But honestly no match was terrible. A few "Wrestlemania Moments" if you will. And KO has to be flying after living basically every attitude era fan's dream.
For a show that on paper wasn't super big compared to night 2, it definitely delivered. Seeing Cody back in WWE is so surreal & Austin had a really good match despite the almost 2 decade ring rust

So who interferes? The Rock or John Cena?
Vince just botched Austin surprise. BOTCHAMANIA!!!
Without a doubt, i give him credit for trying to make the moment but damn, even the moves he pulled during his match, mae young did them better at her 90 year old age
Vince going old man on that stunner represents his ability to run the company
Oh man i totally agree, he was just botch city, when austin theorys music hit he confused it with austins and gave away the suprise early
Vince’s age is really showing tonight but good on him for trying his best to make it a memorable night for the fans
Oh my god Vince you can't even stand up for a stunner you son of a bitch
Did you guys see McMahon flinch too early for Austin Theory's music because he thought it was Stone Cold's lol
I couldnt stop laughin
Haha, yeah, it was hilarious. The Stunner even more. 🤷♂️🙄🙈
He's fucked
Unpopular opinion, Pat Mcafee is one of the better workers on the show tonight.
Sorry, but Pat McAfee sucks as an announcer and a wrestler.
Yo love Cody rhoads music but imagine if it played real American (his dads music) and just as it hits dream it fades and nightmare by A7X plays 🤯🤯

“What sort of unholy union is this?” 😂 They still know how to sell it! I didn’t realize how much I missed watching this stuff until this weekend.
I don’t have to guess if someone is going to kick out because the referee makes it so obvious.
I’m amazed that with me only having a passing interest in WWE after being a fanatic from the 80’s to about 2014, it amazes me by how well WWE still engages with its audience and puts on a good show, over two nights no less. Did the pyro blow up in ajs face?
Me and the homie are wondering what happened. You think the pyro actually hit him? Looks like it’s a punch or something
Yeah someone was sayin he had some metal on his jacket and maybe when he threw up his hands he hit himself. I think thats more likely since its only on one side.
Knoxville..., this is entertaining but not WrestleMania worthy.
WWE needs more no DQ triple threat tags. This is awesome
Going all out with the AR tonight
WrestleMania Night 2, let's go!!! Here for Unified Champion, The Tribal Chief ☝️
Any surprise return tonight?
Heroes return was good but the best part was whenever the fans went crazy to see him back like I never thought that Cody Rhodes with get cheered on again
Odd glitches with most apps on my phone today quite peculiar
Yoooo who knows where to buy a stone cold tshirt , the design he wore last night with the USA smoking skull on the back
that was the texas state flag https://shop.wwe.com/collections/stone-cold-steve-austin/products/stone-cold-steve-austin-3-16-texas-skull-t-shirt
I don’t know if I’m getting more cynical but I think Cody vs Seth and Austin vs Owens saved last night.
Certainly, Becky and Bianka was pretty good as well. I didn’t think the Logan Paul match was bad either considering he is a celebrity
For a match with Logan Paul and Dominik Mysterio in it, I think it went just about as well as it possibly could.
I agree.
Last night was just another example of why WWE is light years beyond any other company. What a fucking show. Presentation, match quality, moments I’ll remember for years, moments that had me feeling like a little kid.. bring on tonight

1.9 is extremely low for Raw historically

agreed. I'm still feeling the hype.

Not that it really matters but what happened to the New Day match?
Sunday night

I agree. AEW marks are so silly.
Maybe the real wrestlemania was the comments we made along the way
Night 1 far exceeded my expectations! I’m hoping for the same for night 2 and I have high expectations!
Lesnar, Roman, AJ and edge have to come correct tommorow, night 2 will totally judged based on how good those 2 matches are
Even though it was 6 hours with the pre show, I really liked the pacing, I wasnt really sitting there looking at the time. I personally like my wrestling more serious and the first night seemed more wrestling centric and less stupid shit than in years past.

I know. But in this case, with those blatant beer can shots at the end of the match, it is a bit too much as the main event for me. It would be fine if the match was placed in the middle of the event.
Biggest star the company has ever made. First match in 20 years.. Its either the main event or nothing
From what I've heard about the NXT show earlier today since I didn't get to see it live, WWE had an absolute fantastic showing today
THIS IS WHAT WRESTLEMANIA ISS ALL ABOUT.... ITS NOT ALWAYS 5 STAR MATCHES..... THEY HAD A 5 STAR MATCH.... CODY VS SETH..... CHARLOTTE VS RONDA WAS PRETTY SOLID... That was a great show!

During the 4 way match in next I had to look away due to the camera cuts. It was dizzying
They cut away even if there is a chance of botching something and then you miss the entirety of the move. Eg, top rope flips, etc
It's terrible
Their commentary is garbage, however, I was actually happy they laid off during Cody’s entrance. They’re usually terrible at letting moments happen
they sounded like they were out of it or bored or something. Lackluster at best.

Shut up.
JUST ANOTHER AEW BITCH....
cry harder.
This is absolutely going in KO's hall of fame montage. What a highlight.
Next year WrestleMania: Kevin Owens taking rock bottoms on Hollywood Boulevard
I still can't believe I finally got to see Stone Cold wrestle one last match. I gave up on this years ago. It was a dream come true.
It's WWE product can we just be impressed that there were that not "highs"
It wasn't terrible, and parts of the show were better than I expected (aka not awful), so yeah, I guess I can give them credit... somewhat?
Agreed lmao, I had no faith that it would be good & G times I was entertained
It's not great, it's stupendous
Agreed, some great matches/moments & a lot of content that didn’t interest me at all.
That was fine. I won't be watching night 2.
bye
OK, bye.

Genuinely was not expecting this night to be so fucking good, but I’m happy they delivered way way above my expectations! Stone Cold is fucking legend
I have to say that was a great night of wrestling - every match was good, shame about the injury in the first but even that was pretty seemless. I can't believe that I'm sat here, 5am in the morning in April 2022 and I've just seen the Stone Cold Stunner in anger.
Only match didn't see was the first, what happened
Boogs was going for one of his strong man tricks, trying to carry both Usos on his shoulders and he buckled under the weight. He held onto his knee. Until the announcement I though it was a kayfabe injury but I guess it was real.
Do we think boogz and nak were supposed to win and then they audibled? There were like 3 times I thought boogz was gonna save but he was Mia.
Itll be a long one, but hopefully a successful one
> njury in the first What happened
Both usos on his shoulders as he tried to stand up and his right knee I think it was gave out
Rick Boogs legitimately blew out his knee
I'm successfully sports entertained Sometimes you just give people what they wanted and it's just fine. The only things that were a lil fucky were Boogs injury and the Flair finish. Everything else was exactly as it should be Wrestling can be simple
I’m hoping there’s a rematch on Raw after WrestleMania and Charlotte drops the belt.
It would fit the bill of their relentless path to artificially inflating Charlotte's title reign number. She can't get to 17 if she doesn't drop it 16 times
Now THIS is a Wrestlemania! Great show all around!
How happy was KO to get beat up by Austin. I felt like the whole time he was like “I’m getting my ass kicked by Stone Cold, hehe!”
i said already, but you take the women's matches + Seth/Cody, Austin/KO, put them next to the best of tomorrow night, and this is a really solid Mania all around given tomorrow night doesn't completely suck lol.
His first match was at Sportatorium, right
No lie, Stone Cold Stunner would be so much fun to take.
Boogs gave up his entire knee for this.
We got to see Stone Cold and a girl's boobie, so this is the best wrestlemania ever.
whose boobie?
Flairs Boobie
My screen cut to black, I figured it must've been a wardrobe malfunction
I missed the boobie. Damn it lol
It’s the AE come back for one night!
What happened with Sheamus match?
Bumped
Cut for time, we’ll see if it happens tomorrow.
He tweeted out a scissor emoji lol
he loves the acclaimed obvs
Tomorrow they should show Kevin Owens getting processed and locked up in jail, just like they did to The Mountie when Big Boss Man beat him.
Nobody puts on a show like WWE!! What an EVENT!!
They already have Cody merchandise on WWE Shop lol
Did anyone else feel it was a bit too PG? Not enough cussing /middle fingers KO was almost better on the mic than Steve Austin. If KO was in the attitude era, he’d have been over af
> Not enough cussing /middle fingers Did SCSA do it
It’s been too PG for like 13 years lol
This could be the best mania in years. Night 1 knocked it out of the park without question.
I’m watching this again …. Holy shit Austin took a ring post bump outside, duplex outside, a tri pod shot a stunner. This was a legit fucking match

He had another 6 or so after the tv show ended lmao
> if not the best WM nights ever Slow down. Best of 2020s so far, we'll say that. Although hard to top Taker vs AJ
I really liked liked 2020 and felt they did so well with the circumstances
Wow. For as bad as the card looked on paper, that show was wayyyyyy better than I was expecting.
Wow. What a great show. I mean, they just hit a grandslamn.
I could’ve watch Stone Cold celebrate for another hour.
He about did hahaha
Every now and then someone comes into the ring, he tosses them a beer and stuns them until there’s like 7 people lining prone in the ring.
i couldnt stop giggling about how he was *still* drinking...he just kept going!
