Idk if you know, but Steve is the lead singer of St Louis most beloved band, The Urge. He is St Louis royalty and we are lucky to have him. Total class act.
Haha yeah, I've been told in this post multiple times, I just know that he's a super nice guy who seems incredibly passionate about his food can't recommend enough
Oh, no problem at all!! If you're a fan of Star Wars also you will be in heaven, they had the Mandalorian playing the entire time and it's Star Wars-themed, I’ll personally be buying a shirt from them when I get home haha I just couldn't fit it in my budget.
The owner is Steve Ewing, lead singer of a famous local band, "The Urge". They've been around since the 90s and a few of their songs made it to MTV & movie soundtracks. Check em out for a good time!
Yeah, I saw this but couldn't fit this in, while I was there sadly. Gotta pick your battles sometimes haha I just figured I would try my best to do things that weren't in my area and were unique to St. Louis itself.
Indeed! Haha, I’m a huge history buff and avid hiker so once I pulled up trails on AllTrails I had to go, it's a wonderful peaceful nature walk with plenty of sights to see!
Glad you had a great time! Always nice to hear visitors enjoy the city. I'm gonna be (hopefully) heading to New England next year, I'll have to stop in Maryland and get some crab!
Oh, I highly recommend Maryland it's full of history and our crabs are unmatched, I would highly recommend Jimmys Famous Seafood, but of course, you will always have different recommendations it's just my personal favorite. Make sure to get your hands on some JO to take home I love Old Bay of course but JO is superior in my personal opinion. Make sure to check out Baltimore also!!! I know it gets a bad rep but I promise you as long as you're not going places you shouldn't be going to in the first place you will be perfectly fine!!! Lol, just a heads up if you hear someone call you “dummy” or “Hon” do not take offense they are terms of endearment.
*oh almost forgot be sure to try some crab pretzels and crab dip, be sure to get your hands on a pit beef sandwich and ask for some tiger sauce if you're a fan of horseradish, also try out some cream of crab soup it's a personal favorite, you can check out my profile for some sights I've posted, if you have any questions please just reach out!*
Noted! Thank you for the recommendations, I always like to get suggestions from locals to try the cuisine. I love seafood and crab, so I think I'll be pretty content! It's been years since I've spent leisure time in Maryland, so I'm looking forward to it.
Well, Maryland welcomes you, I did the exact same thing any chance I got I would ask for recommendations for places to see or places to eat, I will say though that since Maryland is just such a small state you might as well visit DC also, it's like an hour drive from Baltimore.
DC is for sure on the list of places to visit; one of my good friends lives near DC and he offered to let me stay with him and his family while I'm in town.
Oh well if I were you personally I would work my way from DC to Maryland, plus Virginia is right there also, idk how much of a traveler you are but the Tri-state area is so easy and fast to maneuver if you find yourself in Virginia try and visit Shenandoah National Park it's an amazing drive that takes you up to 4,000 feet with breathtaking views, especially in the fall, it's all driving if you wish to do so (:
Thank you, buddy! But I am just me (: haha but you are definitely right about my genuine sense of curiosity! I have so much to see in this life and I plan on seeing and experiencing as much as I can! (:
It was absolutely gorgeous and I loved every second of it, if I lived here I would easily get a yearly membership, also gotta ask because of the name fellow modest mouse fan? Haha
Ayyyy absolutely a modest mouse fan. You got good taste mon ami. I've had this username since 8th grade lol and 8 th grade was 15 years ago now lmao
I've lived in KC for about 3 years now, have never been to St. Louis until we went last month to see Good Mythical Morning Tour at the Stifel Theatre. Cool place!
If you're ever over there again I highly rexommend Sauce on the Side it's a calzone restaurant it was 🔥🔥🔥
Dude, yes, I can absolutely +1 to Sauce on the Side!
I've only been in STL a few years and my girlfriend introduced me to it last month. I was like, "dang gurl, you've been holding this out on me this whole time?"
It's a great calzone.
Haha right back at you with the good taste mon ami, yeah I’ll definitely be back down around this way again, still so much to see and explore, plus I've gotta head out to KC anyways for the strange music HQ.
FWIW-the botanical gardens are free to St. Louis City and County residents on Wednesday mornings and Saturday mornings so if you lived here, you wouldn’t even need the membership to visit all the time.
Thank you so much for letting me know this, I'll be sure to pass this information on to my friends who live here, though I know they are like me and will end up getting the membership anyway to support them, plus they seem to have some great bonuses.
Haha oh, no problem at all, I will never understand why people do this, I’m from Baltimore so I understand where you are coming from, people for some reason love to take pics driving lol instead of getting out of their cars and embracing and exploring the area.
I feel the same way when people come to Baltimore and Maryland, we are an insanely prideful state and city lol our flag is everywhere tatted on folks, and the clothing options with our flag are everywhere lol, it was an wonderful time and I will be back I still have so much to see and do here.
Haha, awesome to hear honestly a huge highlight for me again the owners are super nice and friendly, and the food is amazing, they deserve all the business they can get!
Oh, I had absolutely no idea!!! Again just very down-to-earth and seriously was so happy when I told him how much of an amazing time I had there, you can tell how much it means to him.
Oh, it's my absolute pleasure!!! Thank you all for being so welcoming, hope you swing by Maryland one day and that we can show you the love and respect you all showed me ❤️
Haha honestly I am not too sure but this was at the city museum and they have a ton of little sculptures all around including my personal favorite of a Gator coming out of a sewer dragging him in lol
Aw I’m sorry to hear that, I would honestly still recommend going by yourself but I understand where you are coming from, if I am ever in town again I will gladly buy your ticket and have a city museum adventure with you (:
I'm glad to hear that!!!! Seriously even if you are by yourself it's so interactive that you will be very distracted, make sure to get tickets so you can also go to the rooftop! (:
Hahaha, I am going to google this now and see what I can find, I’m resting up today before my flight tomorrow so I have spare time on my hands, I’ll let you know what I find (:
This is the first I have heard of it, I went to Snarfs, Ethyls, Narwhals, and Steve’s, but sadly I couldn't try every place, of course, haha I always budget and I am staying with a friend so we did home cooking to save money for the both of us, but I’ll be sure to add it to the list for next time!
Oh, the heat wasn't an issue in the slightest for me and wasn't much better if I had stayed in MD lol. I had a fantastic time thank you all for being so incredibly welcoming!!!
Hey OP, lived I'm st louis area my life and I have no idea where that third to last Pic (all the trees, water, and rocks) I'd located at. Can you give me the location so I can go check that out?
Thank you! I have been meaning to make a trip there with my wife for a few years now but never a good chance. I'm going to have to go soon that spot looks awesome.

You know it is always better to share your experience rather than just saying “It’s gross” I can't take this comment seriously in the slightest. All I know is my food was amazing, fresh, and hot, the staff was incredibly nice as well, and the restaurant itself was incredibly clean. I'm not trying to be mean in the slightest but you are in the minority and are the only person I've come across to say this lol
“Opinions were like kittens I was giving them away”
You went to Steve's! You are now family.
Haha yeah, I had to go, got a Horseshoe dog and Baby Yoda with a side of garlic cheese curds.
Idk if you know, but Steve is the lead singer of St Louis most beloved band, The Urge. He is St Louis royalty and we are lucky to have him. Total class act.

Thanks, OP! We're going to STL next week and hadn't even heard of Steve's! Because of this thread we're definitely stopping by there now!

Im from Louisiana moved here in October I love it my Boyfriend lives here! Love the city n the winter! Summer ain't that bad so far either!!!
Is that Fort Bellefontaine?
Indeed! Haha, I’m a huge history buff and avid hiker so once I pulled up trails on AllTrails I had to go, it's a wonderful peaceful nature walk with plenty of sights to see!
It’s a hidden gem, but totally worth. It’s not usually a first timer destination, but AllTrails is like having a hiking concierge.
Yep, easily my favorite app, you can always find so many amazing local sights anywhere just by pulling up trails near me.
Glad you had a great time! Always nice to hear visitors enjoy the city. I'm gonna be (hopefully) heading to New England next year, I'll have to stop in Maryland and get some crab!

We're visiting STL next week -- where's the Pinocchio statue at??
Seriously have a wonderful time!!! I have a ton more pictures that I will be adding later, but this is at the Citygarden Sculpture Park (:
Downtown in something called citigarden, which also has water features( dress accordingly)
I love LOVE the botanical gardens in St. Louis. Went there last month and it was such a lovely day.

Thanks for not slowing down on the highway to take your arch picture.
Haha oh, no problem at all, I will never understand why people do this, I’m from Baltimore so I understand where you are coming from, people for some reason love to take pics driving lol instead of getting out of their cars and embracing and exploring the area.
I love when out-of-towners fall in love with our beautiful city. ❤️
I feel the same way when people come to Baltimore and Maryland, we are an insanely prideful state and city lol our flag is everywhere tatted on folks, and the clothing options with our flag are everywhere lol, it was an wonderful time and I will be back I still have so much to see and do here.
Glad you had a great time! :) Don't worry, I don't think we're dumb enough to let Steve's down again.
Haha, awesome to hear honestly a huge highlight for me again the owners are super nice and friendly, and the food is amazing, they deserve all the business they can get!
The owner was the lead singer of The Urge, who were modestly successful in the 90s.
Oh, I had absolutely no idea!!! Again just very down-to-earth and seriously was so happy when I told him how much of an amazing time I had there, you can tell how much it means to him.
I love this❤️ thanks for the STL love

Who's the little top hat guy holding the sack?
Haha honestly I am not too sure but this was at the city museum and they have a ton of little sculptures all around including my personal favorite of a Gator coming out of a sewer dragging him in lol
That explains it. I've never been to City Museum because I felt weird going there by myself.
Aw I’m sorry to hear that, I would honestly still recommend going by yourself but I understand where you are coming from, if I am ever in town again I will gladly buy your ticket and have a city museum adventure with you (:
Aw thanks! You are welcome back anytime! I'm setting a goal of going before the end of the year.
I'm glad to hear that!!!! Seriously even if you are by yourself it's so interactive that you will be very distracted, make sure to get tickets so you can also go to the rooftop! (:
I would also like to know this. Does this dude need to become part of the local lore? What's his story? Where does he live?
Hahaha, I am going to google this now and see what I can find, I’m resting up today before my flight tomorrow so I have spare time on my hands, I’ll let you know what I find (:
Did you try the ravioli?
This is the first I have heard of it, I went to Snarfs, Ethyls, Narwhals, and Steve’s, but sadly I couldn't try every place, of course, haha I always budget and I am staying with a friend so we did home cooking to save money for the both of us, but I’ll be sure to add it to the list for next time!
From the Steve's crew: We love ya! Thanks for stopping in on your trip.
Thanks, buddy much love back can't wait to buy a shirt when I get home! I'll be coming back soon enough haha
Oh look, there’s the Arch!
You are very welcome!
Your welcome
Thanks for coming, sorry it was so hot.

Thank you! I have been meaning to make a trip there with my wife for a few years now but never a good chance. I'm going to have to go soon that spot looks awesome.
I will be posting more pics and such when I get the time, but I highly recommend it such a beautiful place with a ton to see and explore.

Steve’s is and has been gross for a long time.
