“Formerly Darth, now just Maul.” I also love Mauls character development. The clone wars and rebels took maul from being a one dimensional villain and made him a three dimensional character whose entire story is a great tragedy.
It really is a tragedy. Imagine if Ahsoka didn't stop him from escaping mandalore. He would have successfully ruled the underworld and been a thorn in the empires ass; he coulda done so much.
"YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE DOING"
Ahsoka really is the reason he ended up falling so far. He assumed Kenobi would die, he had big plans, actual aspirations of power. But instead he wallowed in hatred and degraded in his rage rather than becoming empowered by it. Tragedy is an understatement
Literally. Sidious was right, maul was competition. And Sidious used it to his advantage to make sure Ahsoka wasn't with Anakin either
Maul ironically was probably one of the best hopes for the galaxy to stop the empire. But Palpatine played him worse than he played the Jedi. Idk if either of them expected Ahsoka to beat him though, that probably caught everyone off guard
I think Maul is by far my favorite. He was always my favorite character growing up because of his lightsaber and red/black skin and black robes. No be fair nihilus is awesome too but I’d like more backstory on him.
But then the extended universe gives you a wealth of new info about him.
I think not using Maul to his full potential and literally just using him as a “maul” was one of sidious’ greatest mistakes. Maul proves himself to show all the qualities possessed by a powerful Sith Lord. He becomes a major threat to sidious’ grand plan by the end of his story arch too and is apparently still alive be and well and survived the Jedi purge so with any luck we will see maul again on the big screen or In a spinoff we can only hope and pray won’t be woke trash.
I can’t speak for Clone Wars since I haven’t seen it yet, but I don’t like the idea of bringing back characters that clearly died in Star Wars no matter how well executed it is. The Maul thing may’ve been well handled (idk), but that opens the door for something ridiculous like Palpatine’s return in Episode 9.
My first impulse would be Darth Bane for his sheer tenacity and foresight leading to the *Rule of Two*. As far as the ‘fall from grace’ storyline, I would have said Vader *until* I watched *Tales of the Jedi* and Dooku’s fall to Tyranus, imo was just as devastating in its own way.
If you haven’t yet, you should listen to the audio drama *Dooku: Jedi Lost*. It predates the show, and does a great job of going more in-depth into his backstory and disillusionment toward the Jedi
He's an oddity for the fact that his eyes never changed. From what I read, he never gave all the way into the Sith mentality. Not to be crude but I think back to when George Clooney's character in From Dusk Til Dawn told Juliette Lewis' character at the end, "I'm an asshole, not a fucking asshole." I think this is Dooku.
The way he fought that one Jedi Master was crazy. Lightsaber throw doesn't work? MF Force pushes the opponent, leaps twelve focken feet into the air and recalls the lightsaber, yelling and falling on the guy with impaling intent. The fact that the Jedi survived that as well is irrelevant.
I get it...there are a lot of other Sith Lords that are really cool in the movies and expanded lore, but unless the question is proceeded with "Besides Vader..." then what can you do? With that caveat I'd pick Darth Maul if I'm considering his entire arc including the animated series. But still, Darth Vader will always be the First Among Equals in my eyes.
Bane for my favorite in universe, but Vader is definitely the best bad guy. Easily the most iconic too. For example I've heard FF7's Sephiroth described as "The Darth Vader of game villains." When you're the example other franchises use to describe their villains, you know you've gotten something special.
It happens in every single fandom. We consume so much Star Wars content that we’re almost “tired” of the main characters.
It’s like fans of artists: Ask an Eminem Stan what their favorite song is, and it’s likely not a song in Eminem’s top 10 most streamed list.
I could try.
He's just pure fearless menace...from his first appearance when he strode into the Tantive IV through the blaster smoke and snapped Captain Antilles neck after his patience was tried for just a few moments longer than it should have been tested every moviegoer knew that being in a room with Darth Vader was like being in a room with Death himself.
If he's coming for you there's almost no door thick enough or distance far enough to keep him from killing you with a mere gesture or a casual swing of the lightsaber.
But beyond that, we learn that he was once, quite possibly, the greatest hero the galaxy had ever seen...a hero that unfortunately failed to live up to his own expectations; he might have been the most capable Jedi Knight ever...but he wasn't capable enough for himself. He could accomplish almost anything, but "almost" wasn't good enough.
All these "whos your favorite" questions that have been going around lately are making me realize I really am a super basic star wars fan but like come on its gotta be Darth Vader! I mean every single aspect of him not only is iconic but was iconic from moment 1, most of what we know about the sith comes from him, the reason they use red light sabers is to be like vader, the reason kylo ren or the inquisitors or darth revan wear edgy helmets is to be like vader, he inspired so much of not just this franchise but media as a whole.
Not even to mention how cool he is, i mean he's THE ONE CHARACTER that weather it's rebels, obi-Wan, rogue one, the comics or whatever seems to always be gotten right he is pure joy (and terror but mostly joy) whenever he's on screen.
not even to mention how he basically is the emotional core of Star Wars.
Ya know i've always sort of seen star wars as 2 things. 1 being a series of six iconic and loved movies, born from one mans creative genius. and then 2, a collection of varying quality story's that were all made by other people who were lucky enough to play with that mans toy's and ideas. and as far as those six films go, the heart of star wars Vaders arc is the core of the franchise.

Good shout. A galaxy full of Jedi and not one of them figured out he was not only *a* sith lord but ***the*** sith lord. Anakin was basically the first person to figure it out and that was because Palps basically told him and was doing the whole manipulation thing. And not just that but every move in the war was orchestrated by him. Even the clones being able to execute Order 66 was him and that would have been way before he was Chancellor (the creation had been ordered 10 years prior to Attack of the Clones)
Mine too. And the entire franchise is literally a story about Palpatine. He may be in the shadows half the time, but he is the puppet master for almost every major event that ever happens in the entire story.
Darth Sidious for sure.
There’s some great Sith’s out there, with various great aspects to them.
However, Sidious is just to much fun.
With all these broody, edgy and dark tone following alot of them, and how some are either struggling to be as evil as they need be, or are tricked by someone else to fall into the dark side, we have Sidious.
Sidious is just an asshole through and through.
A charismatic, and extremely fun one, but an asshole nonetheless.
He isn’t evil, and do evil acts because he needs to feed his anger, to gain power, that’s just who he is,
A psychopath that lacks empathy, and is simply evil because he is evil.
While the other Sith treats you with silence when you fight them, Sidious is out there laughing his ass off, screaming and having a blast.
And some come of as stoic, even if they take heavy damage.
Sidious is out there screaming like a child because Yoda pushes him.
There is alot of great Sith’s out there.
However, no one is as fun as our boy Palpatine (my opinion ofc).
He really takes pleasure in being one, and an over the top sith at that.
Darth Traya*
She is seriously one of the best written characters in all of Star Wars. I wish they had finished that game before releasing it because it was already so good if they just didn't scuff the ending so bad it would be hands down the Star Wars story because it was seriously the antithesis of everything bad/corny about Star Wars.
Fuck I wish I could go back and play it again for the first time. Or that the switch version ever got patched...
They cut a bunch of content especially towards the end of the game and released it unfinished. Lots of dialogue and side stories. You can mod it on PC to be closer to what was initially intended.
https://youtu.be/Swqf1N9_vWc?si=IHaY5wbFnmpxr86s
I respond to spam texts with" Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend..." makes me laugh.
Sir Christopher Lee was criminally underutilized. One of the most talented actors to grace Star Wars and he got maybe 12 minutes of screentime across two movies.
Christopher Lee brought this awesome character to life, as he did with all his performances.
Ironically, he quite-possibly did the exact opposite to some poor souls during his time in the RAF.
Darth Zannah, Revan, Bane, and Vader in that order. Zannah was fucking hardcore. Killed 2 Jedi at 10 years old and was abandoned by Bane as her first test. Killed Another Jedi and a whole family to achieve her goal of reuniting with Bane. Then stifled his attempt at taking over her soul. She was a bad motherfucker.
Darh Revan is my favorite for how absurdly strong he is. He's that overpowered character you make up in the playground as kids. "You can't use that ability, only Jedi can use it" "NuH uH" My guy can use abilities from both sides of the force. "I stabbed you so your guy died" "uM ACkshamAlly" Revan is so strong can use the force and will himself back to life and his Ghost can still damage you"
Obviously Vader in my book; he is the chosen one. But Dooku was a brilliantly written character and def is up there. Also Dooku has the coolest lightsaber
Shin Hatti isn't a sith, she is a dark Jedi. She presumably learned from Baylon who was a former Jedi and neither of them rock red sabers. They may be on their way to becoming sith, but I don't think they're nearly as ruthless or evil as true sith from what we have seen so far, they're just force sensitive mercenaries with Jedi training and a hidden agenda.
Count Dooku is not only a Sith Lord, he is an actual lord! And he is easily in the Mt Rushmore of Counts with the likes of Count Chocula, Count Drakula, The Count (Sesame Street) and the Count of Monte Cristo.
I got to say Bane. He’s less scummy than Palpatine, and is just pure Sith. If there was a Golden Example for the Sith to follow it’d be Bane. Palpatine was only ever an extension of Bane’s will, and the tool to see his ultimate goal achieved.
I gotta say Bane. Without him creating the Rule of Two, the Sith would have never achieved any real power. I also feel I should give an honorable mention to Kylo Ren. Despite how disappointing the sequals were, Kylo was a legitimately interesting character. While watching those movies, you can kinda tell that he isn't meant to be a Sith, and that rift causes him great pain. I just really think he's interesting.
Darth Bane, the Sith'ari. He had the best understanding of what the sith were at their core and was ultimately responsible for the destruction of the Jedi.
Darth Tyranus obviously because Sir Christoper Lee was a real Knight/Nobel who traced his linage back to Charlemagne he was a war hero and an Olympic class fencer so his fight scenes are god tier wish they had used him more. His whole fall to the Dark side is great too.
You picked the AARP card carrying Sith that wasn't even afforded the dignity of a stunt double for some proper duels? Tisk tisk.
On a less trash talk filled note, how happy were you when tales of the Jedi came out? That did this character some justice. I see him in a whole new light now.
Dooku, because he had a tragic path to the Sith. His padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn, was killed by Maul. Palpatine manipulated him,, by saying the jedi, purposefully, sent Jinn to his death. Then, Palpatine promised he would be part of the new order when that was, never, going to happen. In a way, I wish Dooku had been the one to kill Palpatine. He was older than Palpatine, a Jedi master... he, **NOT** Palpatine, should have been the reigning Sith lord.
Regular Sith - Darth. Vader just cuz revenge of the Sith is my first and fav Star Wars movie.
Other than Vader, I’ll give it to the Ronin just cuz for reasons
maul
“Formerly Darth, now just Maul.” I also love Mauls character development. The clone wars and rebels took maul from being a one dimensional villain and made him a three dimensional character whose entire story is a great tragedy.

But instead he wallowed in hatred and degraded in his rage rather than becoming empowered by it. Tragedy is an understatement
He was also expecting Anakin to be sent instead of Ahsoka to stop him but as he said Sideous was moving faster than Maul foresaw
Literally. Sidious was right, maul was competition. And Sidious used it to his advantage to make sure Ahsoka wasn't with Anakin either Maul ironically was probably one of the best hopes for the galaxy to stop the empire. But Palpatine played him worse than he played the Jedi. Idk if either of them expected Ahsoka to beat him though, that probably caught everyone off guard
It seems that Kenobi respected him greatly
He is responsible.
“I am Maul. 😡” “This is Savage. 😊”
Well said
I think Maul is by far my favorite. He was always my favorite character growing up because of his lightsaber and red/black skin and black robes. selber maul sincerely, a german
His lightsaber reveal moment made my jaw drop
Rule of Cool wins, sorry not sorry.
You disappoint me. Surely you can do better.
Maul, but Episode I Maul. Not Clone Wars, fan-serviced back to life, cartoonishly Shakespearean villain Maul. Sometimes less is more.

That sounds like an incredible read, thanks for the suggestion-got it in my cart!!
Bane is my pick. With his armor he was pretty unstoppable but I liked the older version of him better.
I finished the trilogy recently, I think I like young Bane the best, especially with his soldiers, he’s just such a driven badass.
Wasn’t he called Des or something like that?
Des was his name before joining the sith
Two votes for Count Dooku.
Twice the vote, double the fall
Twice the lightsaber, double the beheading.
That was ironic
Darth Tyranus, you mean
He's an oddity for the fact that his eyes never changed. From what I read, he never gave all the way into the Sith mentality. Not to be crude but I think back to when George Clooney's character in From Dusk Til Dawn told Juliette Lewis' character at the end, "I'm an asshole, not a fucking asshole." I think this is Dooku.
Always two there are
M A L G U S The trailer with him sacking the Jedi temple is awesome
Lost trust in Vitiate, and said fuck it, I’ll form my own Empire. So bad ass. I have a custom lightsaber that’s modeled after his. Also check the pfp
He's awesome in all four of the trailers he's in. Until he got bodied by Havoc Squad.
Darth Vader. How are we not all agreed on this? He's Darth Vader...
Damn….. almost makes me want to change mine
Because Darth Nihilus looks cooler and literally ate a fucking planet
Disagree that he looks cooler, but upvoted because it's a matter of opinion. ;-)
Vore in my star wars?
This is absolutely the answer
The OG.
Bane for my favorite in universe, but Vader is definitely the best bad guy. Easily the most iconic too. For example I've heard FF7's Sephiroth described as "The Darth Vader of game villains." This is the only answer why is this even a question lol
My point exactly. We can't properly explain why he's cool. He's just cool
Maul, i was 9 when episode one came out, was intense as hell. Love everything about him.
Rewatched phantom menace the other day. Maul really was the highlight.
Revan
"Like staring into the heart of the force..." Darth Revan it is
If Revan was in the main series he would be much higher up on this list.
I'm sure most star wars fans know who Revan is
Darth Bane
Bane is such an incredible character. I would love to see his story adapted into a movie trilogy one day or at the very least, a TV show.
These peasants don't know the origin of the Rule of Two.
Nah, I just like Plagueis better Bane was cool though
To me, Bane is the I my answer. I would live to see him come to the screen. Tom Hardy I think would be great… he was already a good Bane
Revan or Nihilus

Yeah, Dooku is definitely *hands down* the best.
Tied between sidious,Vader,dooku,maul and Nihilus.
Darth Bane, the Sith'ari. He had the best understanding of what the sith were at their core and was ultimately responsible for the destruction of the Jedi.
My license plate says Tyranus
Jar jar binks
Darth Tyranus obviously because Sir Christoper Lee was a real Knight/Nobel who traced his linage back to Charlemagne he was a war hero and an Olympic class fencer so his fight scenes are god tier wish they had used him more. His whole fall to the Dark side is great too.
Maul
100% agree with you. Dooku is a boss.
I don't know if it's the suit, or the class, or the lightsaber style that makes Dooku so Goated in my opinion.
Darth Talon
Asajj Ventress
No sith
I’ll go with me
Regular Sith - Darth. Vader just cuz revenge of the Sith is my first and fav Star Wars movie. Other than Vader, I’ll give it to the Ronin just cuz for reasons
