Yes! Every few years I’ll >!plant as many fairy roses as I can and swap out my ruby crystalariums for diamonds!<. Make a crap ton of fairy dust and make iridium quality starfruit wine. Rinse and repeat. Thrive.
Is it, though? Let's assume you're using only the greenhouse (with iridium sprinklers placed to allow 116 ancient fruit to grow), a shed with 116 kegs (no need for more than that in this scenario), and you fill all your casks every two seasons. I'll also assume you've a) got the artisan perk so you're maximising your wine profits, and b) got the setup already going so I'm not considering weeks where you're just growing your first crop of ancient fruit and haven't got anything in the kegs or casks yet. Finally, I'm assuming you're filling all the casks in one go, not split over two weeks.
With 125 casks, every two seasons there's one week you won't sell any wine, one week you sell 125 iridium quality wine and 107 base quality wine, and six weeks where you sell 116 base quality wine. Over a year, that nets you 4,864,860g.
With 189 casks, there's still one week you won't sell any wine, one week you sell 189 iridium quality wine but only 43 base quality wine, and still six weeks where you sell 116 base quality wine. Over a year, that nets you 5,160,540g.
And for argument's sake, not bothering with any casks at all, you're just in a cycle of picking116 ancient fruit, kegging them and selling the base quality wine once a week, doing that for all 16 weeks of the year. Over a year, that gets you 4,287,360g.
The vast majority of your income comes from just selling the base quality wine throughout the year that you don't have space in the cellar to put into casks. Casks add 13.5% (125 casks) or 20.4% (189 casks) to the profits of your wine-making operation, but when you're at the point in the game where you're making nearly 5 million a year with next to no effort involved, is it really "more than worth it" to empty and refill the cellar with casks twice a year just for an extra 295k?
That is so valid. I use the no path method and I absolutely dread empty and fill day. It's the only thing I can do that day and it's so tedious. Thanks for doing the math for me.
It's only 8 hours, and you gain 189 wines more than if you just sold. With a walking layout aging to silver or gold may be better, you don't lose or gain profite
The layout is different for the sheds since they don’t have the columns and other decorations getting in the way. You can check the wiki for the most efficient layout.
There is also a mod that adds 4 floors below it, so you have 5 basements, and the CJB cheat menu allows it so it Processes wine into iridium quality in like 2 seconds
https://preview.redd.it/vacah3bulfjc1.jpeg?width=2296&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8812ac2dd8038439ad2cfd3e3c8fcca8eb4070e6
Also dis what I was talking about
Nah I wasn't talking about the expanded cellar mods. That's fine. Completely. Seems like a great addition.
I was talking about using CJB cheat menu. Using it to process everything immediately at iridium makes it a moot point really to sell things because at that point, its basically the same thing as using the CJB cheat menu to add $100,000 at one click from the menu continuously. I only use that on runs where I'm trying to make a really nice looking farm cus I can just add whatever and move things around and freeze time.
> I am playing modded
If you use automate you can fill the whole cellar. It'll take 189, or 188 with a chest.
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Cask#Gallery
Looks like you could add one more to tie for the wikis efficient layout. Remove the one in front of the middle pillar and move it left up (diagonal). Then you can add another one two to the right of where that one you removed was.
Everyone should assume that the wiki already has the most optimal layouts - it's been left unchallenged for a long time despite being accessed by millions of players
The most effective cask layout is every single spot taken by a cask. You can't go down there, there's no room. Then when it's ready to harvest, you simply take your hoe and use it to harvest. You hold down to power up and the first hit grabs all the wine. The second hit grabs the casks, so you can keep moving in deeper and deeper.

OP: WHY IS REDDIT DOING THIS TO ME
Your post was incredibly redundant, because you were posing a question with zero research, and a few seconds worth would have easily answered your question and shown you were quite incorrect. My definition is quite within bounds.
Oh my god. Your deleted complaint was that people were telling you the same things multiple times and asking them to stop. Making the information you were being provided redundant. Are you being purposefully obtuse to be petty or is this all genuine?
First of all, it's you, not your also. This is my first time with a basement, so I just got excited. Also, I couldn't find the basement section on the wiki, so yes, this was a genuine question.
Turns out I messed up, and there was a tile where there was supposed to be a cask, and if you fix that, there will be 125, so if you like the look of this layout you don't have to sacrifice the cask
If you set them all at the same time, you could in theory cover every square space and pickaxe them after you collect to move through the room
[удалено]
Charge the upgrade hoe for larger area of effect. Aging wine takes a few months, so it’s not a big deal to fill every square.
I’ve always had to pay my hoes
When you become a true master, the hoes will pay *you*.
Pimpin ain't easy
(Waves a chunk of quartz around), hey bitch, you wanna make some motherfucking money?
hey, how’d you know i was hungry?
And put pathing under any cask you want to leave in place
I can never wait that long. I’d rather age goat cheese, it only takes a few weeks.
If you’re impatient stock up on fairy dust 🧚✨
Yes! Every few years I’ll >!plant as many fairy roses as I can and swap out my ruby crystalariums for diamonds!<. Make a crap ton of fairy dust and make iridium quality starfruit wine. Rinse and repeat. Thrive.
This. I age a few casks of Ancient Fruit wine to iridium, but I mostly age goat’s cheese.
Wtf I had no idea you could put cheese in the casks! 🤦♀️
Yes! The casks turn Gold cheese into Iridium cheese. Goat cheese is the best earner.
I can't believe I am still learning new stuff about this game.
I’ve been playing for years and still learning new things. That’s what makes it such a great game
Agreed!
Not only this, but you actually make about 40% more with the extra casks, making it more than worth it.

TIL. Thank you!
Yeah, I’m like 800 hours into the game and I just figured that out a few days ago. I was so excited that it popped up all my bee houses.
Wait, does it let you harvest the honey and leave the bee house or does it take the house up too?
It will let you take the honey. However if you have flowers planted nearby it will turn into regular honey.
So it leaves the houses?
I actually don’t know. But if it’s like the casks, it will remove the one you actually hit and leave the rest.
No, it takes the houses too
That's what I do
Aint nobody got time for that.
If you do it right, it’s about 8 hours of in game time every couple months of in game time and it gets you a shirt ton of money.
Forkin shirt man
Mother forking shirt-balls!
You mean shirt bowls, right?
Son of a bench!
Is this the bad place?
I don't know, doesn't seem worth the trouble and planning to me. You're already going to earn a lot of money if you don't maximize the space.
It's only 8 hours, and you gain 189 wines more than if you just sold. With a walking layout aging to silver or gold may be better, you don't lose or gain profite
That's what I do. My wife says I'm crazy. But when that pay day hits and I buy her a new pair of boots she ain't complaining then.
this what i do, 1.2mil in purple starfruit wine
That’s what I do!
That's what I do. You don't need to reach the barrels until your harvesting all of them.
Wiki has a layout with 125 casks
Damn so close
125 casks, gets the job done. https://preview.redd.it/avfzoxbcuejc1.png?width=974&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2112380a7899586d8efd65bb0718ac9eb5b6dbcb
I’m assuming I could also do this with Kegs in a large shed?
The layout is different for the sheds since they don’t have the columns and other decorations getting in the way. You can check the wiki for the most efficient layout.
This is the way.
I need to do this lol
Naw, fill every square inch of that baby with casks and hoe them when your done. Takes a bit more time but it boost your gold amount by quite a bit
I am playing modded so I truly only need 2
Ahhh ok. If your using automated chests I would just set them all up and make sure the chest is stocked lol
There is a mod that quadruples the size of the cellar so you can fit way more kegs
There is also a mod that adds 4 floors below it, so you have 5 basements, and the CJB cheat menu allows it so it Processes wine into iridium quality in like 2 seconds
Yeah, but at that point, the CBJ menu allows you to add a hundred thousand dollars with one click so what's the point really.
Decor

Look at my money in the original image I already knew, but it's still fun to do the things I thought I could never do
What could you have never done? Not like making money is that hard in this game. But to each their own.
> I am playing modded If you use automate you can fill the whole cellar. It'll take 189, or 188 with a chest. https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Cask#Gallery
Possibly even 0 if you use the stair
Casks make more than cheats, so I use casks to make money faster
?
For cheet sheet the max you can spawn in is 100k but several stacks of iridium ancient fruit sells for much more
Ok but what does this have to do with placing an automatic chest on the stairs?
Wut
No you, like why mention cheating when we are talking about automate (well ig it is """cheating""" but like Automate isn't cbt cheats)
No I was talking about how cbt cheet menu can speed is up

I was asking a question
And I'm providing an answer
Ok
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Cask
No the most efficient way is to cover every square in a cask fill as you set them then use your upgrade hoe to collect
Works on all versions and all versions too
Your cask not filling the corner at the top is extremely annoying
Where?
See at the top of the room where there’s 2 indents? One has a gap of 1 tile, the next one over has a gap of 2 tiles. For no reason
I see now

wiki might say its not but i like the look of this layout
Yes thank you!!!
Why would you post before even checking the wiki, where this is easily verifiable?
Actually, I messed up, and it is possible to have 125 with this layout
Sheds should have cellar too as a second upgrade! Change my mind.

I guess i'm fine with the few casks i have, i rarely use them tbh
Try f12 next time

Redundant means no longer needed or helpful so fix your definition
Your post was incredibly redundant, because you were posing a question with zero research, and a few seconds worth would have easily answered your question and shown you were quite incorrect. My definition is quite within bounds.
I mean, you said the information I gained was redundant reread the second part in your post.
Oh my god. Your deleted complaint was that people were telling you the same things multiple times and asking them to stop. Making the information you were being provided redundant. Are you being purposefully obtuse to be petty or is this all genuine?

“Your deleted complaint”? That’s the one you think should be “you”? Holy shit dude
I mean, I deleted it as I saw how stupid it was
You are having immense difficulty following this conversation huh
